The McCann stuff is simply appalling - especially when the BBC and Sky News sneak words in like "privacy" making out that they're respecting the couple's right to privacy.

As for Doug Stanhope, the truest thing he says is probably at the start: "I'm Doug Stanhope, and that's why I drink" which never fails to crack me up. But his points are true. I think in the self-same episode of Newswipe, Charlie Brooker pointed out that more people die in a year from diabetes than have ever died from terrorism (and ever will) and yet its not mentioned on the news - despite the fact we all need to know what to do and what to eat in order to avoid/lessen the condition and its unpleasant effects, and is much more useful to much more people than knowing how Airport security works. But of course, on commercial news channels, you have companies selling you the very food and drinks that cause diabetes each break...
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

No, we only get BBc 1 and BBC 2. Is it just me, or do the clips you posted take an eternity to load?

Very good analysis indeed. And not only that, but the government needs us to be afraid, too. If we weren't constantly bombarded on the news with fear about 'terrorism', we would never allow the slow but steep eradication of our privacy and civil rights.

On an unrelated note:

Doesn't that just make you all warm and fuzzy on the inside. It's sure as hell making me feel something on the inside - it's not warm and fuzzy though...

How many of those '1151 registered voters' do you think are republicans, I'd say - this is just a guess by the way - 49%. Yep, seems about right.

Just goes to show that people LOVE biased networks, especially with Bill O'Tool. Even John McCain agrees.

Independent studies have already shown that people who watch Faux Noise are the least informed on politics and current events. Even people who watch Jon Stewart's Daily Show are more informed than people who watch Faux:
SURVEY: Daily Show/Colbert Viewers Most Knowledgable, Fox News Viewers Rank Lowest

A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last.

The results about Fox News echo findings of previous surveys. In 2003, University of Maryland researchers studied the public’s belief in three false claims — that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

The researchers stated, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.” Fox News viewers were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions.”
