Um, I think you are mistaking the concept of rip-off here.

This thread is about products that blatantly rip off or down right steal from Disney (or any other company). What you seem to be talking about are Disney attractions that don't deliver on their promise, hence the term "rip-off" meaning that you lose money on something that you thought was worth it.

So which is it?

Yeah, those aren't technically rip-offs. They are simply new concepts. Afterall, how is Iago and Zazu running the Tiki Room a rip off? Describe that exactly. Its the same show, with Iago and Zazu coming in now and then. Frankly, no different then adding Jack Sparrow, Barbosa, and Davy Jones to POTC ride. Its all done to "modernize" the parks. They are trying to keep up with Universal who isn't afraid to go against the grain and be a bit more adult. Frankly, Disney is doing the same, with having Genie do a Tiger Woods joke, Mad Hatter making a comment about Jerry Springer. Etc.

Disney often does surveys from guests about what they find entertaining. And a majority of guests wanted less 1930s and more 2000s. Its sad, but true. But no way are they rip offs.

Siren's right. Disney fans are throwing a fit over how Disney update their rides.

A friend of mine once said that his family got tired of going to Disney because they felt they weren't updating their parks enough and not making them relevant to what is popular today.

Not to mention its been confirmed that guests want to see more of their favorite characters on the parks and rides.

So again, you have to explain why you posted those attractions as rip offs.

If I am not mistaken, they were never called new attractions. Updated maybe, but not brand spanking new.

You're describing disappointment in theme park attraction idea decision. Hence why you probably felt "rip-off". This thread is talking about outside products that rip off the Disney brand to earn their cheap bucks.

There were lots of rippofs in the Golden era of American animation, Both ripped of from Disney and Disney ripping of from others. Almost all Harman and Ising stuff are Disney rippofs and Disney ripped of Paul Terry's Aesope fable series.

But it has always surprised me that this forum is not more interested in the roots of the Disney ie. in the American animated short business.

Eisner and Katzenberg were "outside" products, who thought changing the sets on Walt's Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse would amount to a new attraction. Cheap, lazy strip-mining of the past, on order with their cheapquels. Rip offs.

Oh yeah - while we're at it - the titles you guys are mocking are no worse than the direct to video horsecrap cheapquels produced under the banner of Disney home video. They are rip offs as well.
