The Number of Posts are Wrong

Post by zackiellovedisney »

Um, I was viewing my profile and it said I had 16 posts. I know this is wrong because when I picked see all my posts I had something around 130. I know your rank increases with the more posts so how come my rank hasnt increased.

Posts that you make in the Polls and Games section don't count. I assume that's what happened with your account, since I know you're very active around there.

They just don't. I don't know why. Maybe because the posts there aren't really discussions, so you're post count shouldn't go up every time you add something to HoH, for example.

Posts made in Polls & Games don't count because in the past, new members would make 50 frivolous posts in that forum, give themselves an avatar, then never posting again. Or, in some cases, they'd do 50 quick posts in P&G, give themselves an avatar, then just post very sparingly the rest of their time. The things people do for an avatar...

Also, Post Count used to be part of the display beneath a member's name on actual forum posts, instead of just in the profile. It was removed on December 6, 2006 so that people wouldn't keep making fluff posts simply to raise their number.

Both things (P&G posts not counting, removal of Post Count display) were done to avoid over-posters and encourage raising the quality of posts rather than the quantity of posts.

Oh. That makes a lot of sense, Scaps.

And reading that old thread you linked to makes me wonder why they never did the gender idea. It seems like a good idea, since a lot of people have been confusing a lot of other people's genders because of their avatars.

Thank you that really clear a lot of things up for me. Who knew all those people would just do that many things for an avatar. I don't want an avatar as much as I want a higher rank. A high rank shows that you have somewhat of authority. Also since we are talking about rank will there be a diamond rank coming out soon.
