So apparently there are new Special Edition DVDs of each coming out March 23rd and May 18th as well. Anyone know if they are two disc or not or whether or not it's any different than the current 2-Discs out transfer-wise:
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Now if I had to guess by how it's described it appears to be a single-disc release which is a turn off.
I know this isn't the thread to ask all this in but there is no thread/discussion about the new Special Edition DVDs. It's as if they're not happening.

If Amazon's listings are correct the blu ray combo packs are going on sale in March & the dvd SE's are going on sale in May. Much the same as what they did with Snow White. Blu Ray combo gets a couple month head start (& it does appear that the Toy Story SE's are one disc).
15 gallon 7 pint blood donor as of 1-4-11. Done donating. Apparently having Cancer makes you kind of ineligible to donate.

According to the news item at DVDTimes, the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo packs are being released in March, followed by the DVD release in May, like buffalobill said. Given that the listed bonus material for each film amounts to a little over a half-hour (according to BBFC), they'll likely be single discs DVDs with just the movie and the new special features (and likely not carrying anything over from Ultimate Toy Box or the two-disc editions from 2005). The older bonus features probably will only be Blu-exclusive now, and since they were in SD, will make the Blu-Rays be single-disc as well.

Do you expect the Special Edition DVDs to have the same quality transfers as the older 2-Discs Special Editions?
Disney... can we have this cover instead of that title treatment on wallpaper thing you've been putting everywhere ?

Based on the fact that they are taken directly from a digital source, the Special Edition DVD's will probably look exactly the same at the 2-Disc sets from a couple of years ago. The Blu-ray will blow it out of the water though, without question.The_Iceflash wrote: Do you expect the Special Edition DVDs to have the same quality transfers as the older 2-Discs Special Editions?

Yeah, it doesnt even really count as a transfer since its not being sourced from film.
one thing I do expect though is that they'll use the re rendered version they made for the double feature(only you'll naturally only get one of the eyes).
Which means there will be very subtle differences from the previous versions of them. I didnt even notice too many in the theater, but heres what I remember.
The stars in the gas station scene, and the establishing shot where they reveal Pizza Planet are smaller and sharper, and there are more of them.
Some textures are more detailed, such as under the truck.
Some minor animation goofs have been fixed, Woody's foot doesnt intersect the blankets. (I cant remember this specifically, its something I read in an interview with Lee Unkrich)
Now, for the double feature they replaced the replaced the Pixar version of the castle with their new one, meaning the transition they had where the castle fades into the wall is no longer there. Im hoping they change it back to the old way, I like it much better, it feels odd starring a blank wall for a few seconds with no logo to fade in from.

Yikes! it's even more blatantly obvious than the re-used Tink on the two Tinker Bell movies! (Of course, since she's the only one on the box, and she's at least got something different going on with her hands, its OK, and just adds to a sense of uniformity. But this.... this is just silly!)rexcrk wrote:Is it just me or is Buzz the same on both covers? lol

It's just boring to me. Like, even if it were just characters standing there, it wouldn't have the big half-image block color title, which is what annoys me the most.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
