I didnt realize how many gay people are on this freaking board. Seems like Im one of the very few straight people, its very odd and uncomfortable and I don't approve of it at all. It's actually rather disgusting. I'm leaving the board forever, you'll all probably love this because of this one post and think I'm an awful person because i hate gays! WHICH I DO! SO GOODBYE ALL YOU GAY QUEERS!

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and say he is just trolling a very gay oriented thread for the sake of lulz.

If he was serious, good luck finding Disney communities filled with only straight people...

I'm a little late in this thread, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your horrible incident, Disney Guru. It sickens me seeing that there's still much hate out there like this for the GLBT community. I see it first hand every spring semester when Repent America comes to our campus every year and stakes either outside our center or the academic forum. I've had less than pleasant remarks hurled at me for it from them when I've walked into and from the center from there, and my other friends victimized for it. I'm just so happy to hear that at least you and your friend made it through that horrible situation okay.

Speaking of which, I don't know what to consider of your post, ironicially called "Just.A.Friend." I would have thought by now you would have picked up on it, considering my gushing about my favorite heroes, and the numerous gay topics that we have discussed here. As pap eloquently said, good luck finding any Disney forum without any GLBT members...

I really thought he was just telling a joke. It reads that way anyway. If it wasn't, he didn't make his point properly. :P

Ugh.

Don’t take that the wrong way. I’m not saying anything bad about you (not that you would care anyway), but—and this might just be a personal thing, I guess—I never think about people I actually know in that way. I mean, sex with people I know doesn’t bother me (had to say that before you thought I was some arm's length strange person). But for some reason thinking about them makes me feel like a stalker sniffing someone’s boxer shorts. That’s probably just me though.

Thinking more about it, maybe that's one of the reasons porn is so popular? One of, I said.

I'd like to think I'm open-minded and get appalled when I hear about hate crimes and prejudice against people because of their sexuality, gender, race, etc. :(

I don't think I've said much on the subject here lately, but if I had to label myself I'd say I'm bi. I'm definitely attracted to women, but it doesn't really matter at this point in my life since I'm committed to a guy I'm very much in love with. As I've probably said here before, I always figured I'd fall in love with the right person, regardless of their gender. 8)

At the same time, I'm a very big believer of monogamy but don't force my beliefs down anyone else's throat. And even though I work for porn site I don't see myself as any type of sexual "deviant," lol . . . in fact I probably lead a rather boring (albeit healthy) sex life. :p

I thought Just.A.Friends was making a satirical post, imitating stupid hate-mongers (which you find all over the internet). Maybe he can come back and clarify if I'm right?

You got that right. Seems like you're starting to know me.

Er... that's not exactly the first image that pops into my head when I find out two of my beautiful girl friends have made out. :P

Just out of curiosity: are you a man or a woman?

Man. I'm starting to appreciate my gender-neutral user name. Bothersome. Still better than those early "Ursula" names. They thought I was a transvestite. :P

A long time ago, I thought it was strange that me and Disney Duster had so many similarities. Both DD's, both gay, both with Michael as our real names (though he goes by 'Mike,' it seems), and we joined around the same time. We have a lot of differences, too, but I still find that weird.

Btw, is Michael a common gay name? I've always thoughts so, but maybe it's just my geographic area.

Don't do that.

Do you know how many "I'm not!" replies you'll get?

Just so we can always keep things clear - being gay is not a life style. Things that actually indicate a lifestyle are things that can be changed. Such as: how you eat, how you dress, what you watch and listen to, basically how you act - more like: the way you treat people. Being a fashion fiend is a lifestyle choice. Being a Britney fan is a lifestyle choice. Things you can actually choose are lifestyle choices and as we all know, being gay isn't something you choose. How you see the world and things inside you that make you feel the way you do are not things you choose.

Sorry if anyone feels that is unnecessary but I want everyone to know the difference between the choices we make and the things we have no choice over.

Now now, everyone... I share your disgust and anger. But we can't allow ourselves to use this board as a forcefield to pretend there isn't hate in the world outside... I appreciate the reminder every now and then- just how ignorant and foolish people are about gays. If only this would actually serve as a reminder to the people who don't understand how much pressure we're still facing as a people by recognizing how much violence there is out there. That this isn't even 1% of the garbage we get thrown at us.

I think a mandatory month-long suspension, at least, is in order for this member of UD. Whether they're leaving for sure or not. And if they're joking... they should have more tact.

If these people are abusing freedom of speech in America - and this is a clearcut case of non-peaceful protesting - it's a crime and they need to pay for it. They in fact hurt the whole nature of protest and are only causing the gay community to further unwind in our peacefulness to combat their evil. It's hard to take the high road when you see the opposition we face every day of our lives.

I appreciate how many positive people are on this board, but I have to be the one who keeps saying - it's 2010. When are we going to mature and evolve as a species, as a nation, as an animal with brains and hearts? My guess is never.

Another example of the fact that people in positions of power and influence:
A) gather together to incite anger and hate, and spread ignorance
B) state that being alive for us is a sin
C) compare our sexuality to filthy things like beastiality

No isolated incident, I'm afraid.

I guarantee you those people have never met a gay person and get all their info from movie/tv show stereotypes. Hollywood very rarely shows gay people as just another person but most of the times are displayed as ridiculous stereotypes. All through high school I was a homophobe until I got a summer job at an amusement park and worked with some (actually a lot) of gay people and didn't even find out they were until the season was up. They were some of my greatest friends and pretty much matured me past the immature homophobic behavior brought on by what I saw on TV. In fact, they were the only people I could talk to about Disney that didn't make me feel weird.

Complete agreement. And, same here. There was only one out student at my high school and I completely resented him for being what I thought was so stereotypical. I'm sure if I had any idea what he was going through, him being so obvious and everything, I would have been a lot more sensitive. I had it very lucky being a huge horror fan, people always looked at me as "the weird guy" or the psycho, like I was going to explode and kill someone. So... still some stereotyping going on. But I was grateful for being a brain or a loner and not a flighty girly type person. I don't think like that anymore of course, but that's basically what things are like in high school.

When I was in high school, I actually criticized other people for being Disney fans. Not extremely, but- this of course were the years of The Lion King where everyone wouldn't stop freaking singing "Hakuna Matata" and playing "The Circle of Life" on CD. I always had a low tolerance for anything too mainstream.

:o Wow! This thread really came to life over the weekend! I seem to have missed a lot of interesting stuff!

Just.A.Friend!? WTF, Dude? Either come out with a "jk" or good riddance you horrible, horrible person!

Anyway.... All of the intolerance is making me very sad.

On a positive note.... I'm offically out, now! :D I told my grandma, who was, like, the last person I wanted to tell (she's probably the most supportive person in my life, but she's also super-conservative). Luckily, she just said that she supports me no matter what, but also stated her hope that I end up with a male, just so she can be a biological great-grandmother. :P Oh well, she said that even if I bring a woman home, she'll just be happy to see me happy! :D I am super-thrilled!!!

But on the other hand... my mother's been pointing out that she finds me "increasingly masculine" and makes fun of me for not being a perfect little "girly-girl." She thinks I'm "faking" being bi, so that I can "keep my options open," because I find myself unnattractive and fear that "no man will ever love me." Now THAT pisses me off. It's true that I'm just about done with high-school age boys, and have sworn off males until college. (Yes, with the hopes of actually having my first girl-on-girl exprience....) But mainly because high-school age boys are shallow, conceited, and way too "macho" and pig-headed for me.

Oh well, I'll take the bad with the good and keep on fighting. There are ignorant people out there, but in 20 years, I'm sure they'll be just as frowned-upon as racists are now.

Reminds me of an old boyfriend who got all bent out of shape when I said I was going to stay over my gay friend's house to pet sit for him and I was gonna swim in his pool and use his jacuzzi.

My boyfriend, disgusted: You would swim in his pool and jacuzzi
Me, flippant and smart ass: Yeah, why not? You swim in hotel pools, least I know him.
My boyfriend, uber-disgusted: But you don't know if he had gay sex in there!
Me, uber-smart ass: Why, do you think its contagious?!

I hadn't know he was that hateful of gays till that day, that one conversation is actually what made me break up with him the next week. I have too many gay friends to want to deal with a boyfriend who can't cope with that idea.

So as I told my BF, I will say to you (if you aren't joking), don't let the door hit ya on the arse out...its a big gay door after all

Good for you, Margos, for coming out. I'm glad your grandmother reacted to positive!

I share your optimism (and that's not in my nature) about acceptance of gay rights. In 2009, several American states have legalized same-sex marriage. Also, Portugal's new socialist government will likely be the next to legalize it. Meanwhile, even Mexico City and Buenos Aires have legally recognized same-sex marriage. And since President Evo Morales took office in Bolivia a few years ago, gay rights have been put into the constitution for the first time in history.

Progress is being made. The US just has to make sure to catch up to Third World countries.

I hear you, Goliath! We always seem to be behind pretty much every "superpower" nation (and many smaller ones) in promoting the general equality for human beings. It's sad really. We have a very bad history as far as treating minorities of all kinds. Especially when we talk about the current gay issues do I feel somewhat ashamed to be American. But, again, it'll probably get better soon!

It's kind of funny, though. I was talking to my mom and grandma the other day, and my mom said that I had to be one of the biggest minorites ever because I'm a bisexual, multiracial person with a "disability."
