I never go to the cinema to see a film a second time, but I was so jonesing to see The Princess and the Frog again, I couldn't help myself. And I actually loved it even more on this re-watch. I noticed even more of the details of the animation and Naveen and Tiana's growing relationship melted my heart even more. The cinema was also packed this time around and it was interesting hearing the crowd reaction, which was extremely positive. The audience even applauded at the end. But, anywhere, this definitely finds a spot on my top five favourite Disney films. I seriously love this film so much and I had a massive smile on my face the whole time (minus the sad bits, of course). Such a beautiful, funny and touching piece of film.

And then when I exited the screening, there was a long line for the film and the next showing was already sold out. So, I think with the holidays now come around, we should see some more satisfying grosses coming in.

Princess and the Frog was one of the last films Brittany Murphy saw before she passed away.

Princess and the Frog is my favorite Disney movie of the decade if you don't count Pixar. It is better than all the others animated or live action. I hope it inspire Disney to do regular 2D animation and go back to hand drawn things. I'm not saying I don't like CGI but I like hand drawn a lot better

wow... it's always weird thinking about what movie I'd want to be the last one I see before I die.

I guess TPATF isn't a bad "last movie"... Brittany was just way too young though.

Divinity, quite right, those voices and the way those scenes were done were more romantic and just better than the Evangeline one. I mean, those tunes are better, too.

But I also realize that those two had not been falling in love as long as the other couples before their supporting-character-sings-romantic-song scene.

Also, I think if you do sing a duet, revealing your own feelings of love, telling your lover, making your lover happy, is more realizing of the couple and characters, but it doesn't make the characters more enjoyable or make the film better necessarily.

As you've pointed out, the supporting character sung songs have outdone duets and porbably were the best choices for some films. Oh, but don't forget Beauty and the Beast also had "Something There".

As for Naveen, he seemed to steal the scenes from Tiana to me. But the more fun characters tend to be more likeable...

Naveen's scene thievery can only mean that this isn't totally Princess-powered.

So true! I just saw the film for a second time with my mother (she really loved it btw). I'm also planning on seeing it again this Sunday with another friend of mine. I also noticed a lot more to do with Tiana and Naveen's relationship and how it developed this time around. I also actually cried again during the ending. This is truly a great Disney film that I'm glad to be able to call a DAC. I can't wait for it's home release!!!!

The Princess and the Frog

Well, I don't think any character should steal scenes from the movie's title character. Poor Tiana. That's not right. It's her movie...

Sadly, that's bound to happen in any story. It depends on how the writer handles it, but there will always be a character that steals the show from the main character/ers.

Technically, though, Naveen is also a title character. He's the Frog before she's even the Princess!

Exactly. Which, imo, "The Frog Prince" might have been a better title.

I actually thought that Naveen and Tiana had their respective time on film. Each was unique and I thought each had as big of an impact as the other did to me.

I've seen the movie twice now, both during the same week (first week it came out to the public), and I liked the movie. But after that I didn't think about it much. That's up until recently. I haven't been able to get it out of my head and I have such a big desire to go see it again. That's not something that often happens to me. I love Pixar and their films, but I have never said to myself "I have to go back and rewatch it!".

What I'm trying to say is I think this film has something very special about it. I don't know what that special thing is exactly, but I know there is something there. I really think that it parallels TLM a lot (merchandise, story, etc) and I really think that this film will grow to be a huge classic. People may be disappointed with the overall product and such, but there's not one film that every single person likes. It's just not possible to please everyone. I agree PatF has its faults, but in the end I think that it works!

2 things:

I think I noticed a DELETED SCENE from PATF...remember that scene we've seen on making-ofs and trailers... where Tiana says " Daddy always said dream big..."

I dont belive that is even in the movie.

Also, I dont think this has been posted here. Its a making-of, but its kinda disgustingly racist. Its only black people who worked on the movie, and they call them "brothers"...

I think it was probably just test animation. The footage also shows rough animation of Frog Naveen that looks very different from the character's final design.

Finally getting to this...I saw the movie and loved it.

Something I did notice...I think out of all the princess movies, Tiana is kissed or does the kissing more than any other princess. I thought it was so adorable when Tiana says, "You just kissed yourself a princess" and he says, "And I think I am going to do it again" or something like that. Very cute.

I felt Mama Odie was kinda underused, but used effectively all the same. Falcier's (sp) demise was at least different, not many cliffs in New Orleans to throw him off of ;) I love Charlotte, she was fantastic.

I am disappointed in the music. It was just too much New Orleans. I would have liked a more traditional song, especially a traditional love song. Lion King had a lot of African-themed songs, but Can You Feel The Love Tonight? was more traditional and fit into the movie quite nicely. Not that I didn't like Ray...I liked him more than I originally did...but his voice was not one of romance.

But overall, it was a wonderful movie!

I saw the movie and it was lovely. Some of the most fun I've had in a theater in a while. Hopefully I'll write a detailed review of the movie later, but so far, it's been great!

I really enjoyed Dr. Facilier. I wanted to see scenes containing him more than ones with Tiana and Vaneen when they were on their mission to become humans again. How is Dr. Facilier's name pronounced? I thought I heard his name spoken once. If so, it happened so fast I couldn't memorize it before he got nicknamed 'Shadow Man' and everyone stuck with calling him that. Fah-sill-ee-er?

Dr. Facilier is my favorite character as well!
It is pronounced "Fah-sill-ee-ay" I believe.
