The Rescuers is a Platinum/Diamond edition?
According to the DVD Aficionado website at www.dvdaf.com, THE RESCUERS is listed to have a Platinum 2-disc release on March 13, 2013. Any info on this? It would be cool if it happened, but I don't think it will.

I hope they don't release them as a double pack. I refuse to buy double packs because I like to arrange my DACs in release order and this makes it impossible.Ostrum-Safari1992 wrote:They should re-release "The Rescuers" (and "The Rescuers Down Under") on DVD sometime soon. "The Rescuers" DVD was released way back in 2003, and the "The Rescuers Down Under" DVD was released in 2000.
You never know, but they could release the two films as a double pack.

Agree. The actual release dates for next year's Diamond releases are still largely swathed in mystery, so for Disney to announce "Rescuers" so incredibly far into their release calendar is quite bizarre.tlc38tlc38 wrote:I find it highly unlikely that the release date is even correct. 2013 is 3 years away, Disney isn't going to announce something 3 years in advance. They never have and they never will. We'll just have to wait and see...

I'd have a hard time believing this film would ever see the light of day on anything less then a single disc.
Likewise I agree, I hope we don't get any "double film" collection here. I wasn't the biggest fan of when they did that with "Amigos" and "Caballeros" but at least they go side by side in the official "cannon" order. For the "rescuers" films to do this would not work as there are a number of films between them.

I don't think we will get anything but a single disc for The Rescuers, either. Disney continues to treat all their 1967-1988 films like shit (just like their 1943-1949 films, by the way). Which is a real shame, because I think The Rescuers is one of Disney's best! I hope they don't do a double pack, because I don't care for the bland sequel.

I've been holding off on getting either film on DVD because they just weren't my favorite DACs. I guess if they were to be re-released I would buy them because although they weren't my favorite, I did like them (just as I do any Disney movie obviously
).
As far as double packs, I wouldn't mind, but that's just because of the price. Chances are there wouldn't be any price difference in releasing the two films as a double pack as opposed to the prices of the films if they were each released separately. That's just a guess though, assuming the double pack would be like the Saludos Amigos / Three Caballeros double pack.
Like others have stated, though, I would prefer the films to be released separately.

It's about time the Rescuers got its proper due on dvd/blu-ray. I never picked it up on regulard dvd b/c I knew as soon as I did the SE or whatever would come out. I love this movie, I just got the snowglobe on eBay dirt cheap b/c this is just one of my favorite DAC.
I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

DVD Aficianado is largely a fan community with a few moderators. Any member can submit a movie title and all it takes to get it put up on the site is a moderator to click "approved." The purpose of the site is to make a sharable online list of your movie collection, but it is not to be taken as a serious news source for release dates.tlc38tlc38 wrote:According to the DVD Aficionado website at www.dvdaf.com...
On top of that, 'The Rescuers' is not one of the fifteen titles which Disney has announced to be included in the Diamond Edition line and as others have pointed out, the Platinum Edition line ended in March. 'The Rescuers' is certainly due for a re-release, but it will most likely be before 2013 and definitely won't be a Diamond/Platinum Edition.
I'm currently watching and reviewing every Disney film in chronological order. You can follow along at my blog, The Disney Films, and also follow me on Twitter.

Just imagine a pure CAPS sourced BD! The true saving grace of RDU is the fact it is so gorgeous in a 1990s fluro coloured sense with a great adventure score... and they actually had time to do decent animation, unlike BatB.Barbossa wrote:The Rescuers Down Under definitely needs to be taken out of the Gold Collection line and be given a better edition.
If they do decide to do any special features, the CAPS innovation needs to be celebrated.

Since Disney is releasing Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 together, I bet if these ever get released, it will be a double feature. I would prefer them to be single because I also organize my collection in order of release date.
These two films really need to be looked at and released in a special edition Blu-Ray.

Of-course it is. Everything is "Platinum Edition" at Disney nowadays.
What a joke. It started out as a prestigious line of 10 best-selling titles, then extended to 14 titles and now even "The Rescuers" is being considered a PE?! And I'm not even talking about other titles rumored as PEs in the last few years.
The line-up should have stayed 10 films. When they added 4 more films, then it became stupid.
And I know the line is supposedly over but it's just annoying. Nothing prestigious about that lineup anymore.
