NO Fricken way, I can't believe it....Roy was the one who saved Disney Animation from death. He pushed for animation and Disney quality to its own limits. It's like you never would've expected him to leave Disney in anyway.

And I know what you mean, Jedi. I think David Oneal from Classic Theme Parks said it best today. When he interviewed him he said "It was close to meeting and knowing Walt that I will ever get."

What other role did Roy play in Disney? aside from rescuing Animation and starting up SaveDisney....I know he worked on True Life Adventures and other lil projects.... Some info would be nice.

I still can't believe Roy's dead....just like Walt's death....totaly unexpected... I wonder if Diane will step to the throne that her cousin occupied for Disney Animation.... She is the last TRUE Disney to inherit the throne. Why didn't he or Diane take over the studio after Diane's husband was forced out?? I think it'd be fitting to have a Disney family memeber uphold the control of Walt's studio.

Thanks Roy, for bringing so much to the Disney Studios. I hope the struggle wasn't too hard. And at least he's now reunited with his uncle Walt, among others.

Never going to happen. The 'Walt' side of the family don't want to have anything to do with the company, the least being with Dianne. It's complex and layered, but a big part of it would be the constant fighting with the 'Roy' side - Roy E. turfing Ron (who I think was earmarked by Walt to be a successor in some way) probably has a lot to do with that.

Short story is, Dianne hated Micheal and the company with a passion, focused her energy on the concert hall for her mother and now the museum.

If anybody was going to take over, it'd be Roy P., which I could potentially see happening but considering that he is a successful businessman in his own right, he has never held and executive position with the company and the fact that the Roy's stakeholding is likely be be split among multiple children means he can't force himself into one.

I'd be making myself known to one Mr. Stephen P. Jobs (who deep down I hope would be a Sid Bass style supporter of any efforts to maintain quality within the company's content and management... Unfortunately he's no use to us physical media people

)

Hmm, you'd think Diane would want to be part of her father's company..... You're right, Ron Miller was hand picked by Walt to run the animation department (according to Behind The Myth) and I read in Disney War that Ron getting moved out of the studio by Roy E kinda made an unexpected rift between the cousins...

All we can do now is hope that John Lasseter can uphold Disney Animation

Well, a big part of it is she doesn't see it as her fathers company. If she was running the show, it would probably be frozen in 1984 form perpetually (a hokey studio making instantly forgettable family films with a few theme parks on the side), which wasn't sustainable then nor is it now.

I just got really mad while reading a CNN report about celebrity deaths in 2009. Out of the many stars they listed that died this past year the original "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" dog made the list and not Roy. Pop culture in the US is so stupid sometimes.

Jeez... that's ridiculous, singerguy. I can't believe it. That's truly disgusting to me. Sure, we'll all miss that cute chihuahua. But he's certainly no Roy E. Disney.

but I agree bout Taco Dog getting attention then Roy E. Hopefuly the Oscars will pay tribute when they present Best Animated Feature

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers about the passing of Roy E Disney. He has been at Disney for 56 years, but he was a great man. First, there was Walt Disney who died 43 years ago on December 15th, 1966, but now 43 years later, his brother is now gone. I've been a Disney fan forever since I first saw "Pinocchio" in a theater back in 1978 when I was a wee one.

There is only one VHS tape that I found in my collection is the 1994 VHS of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" with the introduction done by the late Roy E Disney. Thanks to "videos4everybody" for putting this up. Here it is.

Correction: Roy E. Disney was Walt's nephew.

Roy O. Disney (Roy E.'s father) was Walt's brother.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

What concerns me is that when the company went in the wrong direction, Roy was there to help fix it. One time was to bring in Eisner, another was to get him out. But now that he's gone, if that were to happen again, there won't be anyone to save it now.

Or i'm serious about this.....we can.....if we preserve and constantly remind them of the work Roy E Disney....the company didn't die with Roy....he helped things a lot...now its OUR TURN AS TRUE DISNEY FANS...and heck make petitions but honestly we should all organize and with our rememberence of the good old days and I feel its the biggest way anyone can pay Roy Tribute is to keep his dream alive through us....Roy E Disney changed my world and way of thinking when I met him.....on my make a wish trip.....and I for one am will do an interview for the way I remember that unforgettable priceless day and how real Roy was...he truly was carrying the spirit and belief of his father and his Uncle....and now it's our turn I feel...I mean if people can rally together for politics (tea party yuck) but surely its not that impossible for there to be an band of true true disney fans like on face book....Don't let what Walt Started die with his Nephew...WWRD WHAT WOULD ROY DO!!
