That? was amazing...I had chills the entire time watching it. Now for my shot-by-shot-analysis:

* I love the design of the Red Queen's castle and the heart motif throughout. Now, I'm not sure if the White Queen's castle that we've seen on the poster is this very one after Wonderland is restored, or if they're two different palaces. The White Queen has her own during her banishment that we've only seen the balcony of, but it may be completely different from the White Castle on the poster.

* Alice looks good in red. It seems like they've changed the script at this point and have Alice witness the Mad Hatter's trial as opposed to having her elsewhere. I like the change since it adds more drama and keeps her present for all the major story points.

* The entire backdrop of the mad tea party has changed. While I like the dark, foggy, atmospheric look, I have to admit I prefer the warmer dusk background from the teaser.

* You can see the Jubjub bird gashes on Alice's arm.

* The March Hare is creepy. I like it.

* The Dormouse is adorable, and it seems she's going to be actual mouse size for this. The script seemed to indicate she'd be a bit bigger, but I prefer the animals to be kept at their normal sizes.

* On the other hand, the Cheshire cat looks freaking huge with his whole body, but this is probably because Alice at this point has shrunk.

* The croquet ground is beautiful and quite colorful.

* They kept the moat with floating heads in! I was afraid they'd do away with that.

* If the shot of the Knave with the Queen is any indication, it seems like it's not just the Queen's head that's enormous. Her torso seems rather large, too.

* Nice to see the Rabbit will have his costume change as the Queen's servant.

* The bandersnatch sequence should be amazing in 3-D.

* Just like in the script, the animals being used as servants is a nice touch that gives the croquet game some context. You can monkeys holding candelabras and Alice's footstool (and of course the pig as the Red Queen's footstool).

* The White Queen's running. I thought Anne said she floats a few inches above the ground? I guess that only applies if she's casually moving from place to place.

* The Mad Hatter with a sword. Heck yes.

* Just as I had hoped, this will be a war between chess pieces and playing cards, as evidenced by the armor designs for each side. It does raise the question of where are the black cards/pieces from each, but that's okay.

* I love the ruins as a backdrop to the battle. Very dramatic.

* Alice pulls off the armor better than I expected. The Vorpal Blade (and the armor, too) are very nicely designed.

* What little we see of the White Queen's throne room is lovely. Talk about a stark contrast to the Red Queen's.

* It seems at some point, Alice re-arranges her oversized dress into something more manageable, complete with bow/flower at the top corner. Perhaps the Hatter even helps her with this. It's certainly be a nice touch.

* While Alice is riding the bloodhound, where'd her arm bandage go? Unless those shots were flipped for the trailer.

* Looks like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum get branded with hearts on their foreheads when captured. Ow?

* The fight between the Hatter and Knave looks epic.

* Now this is interesting. It seems there's some sort of fight in the Red Queen's dressing room that takes place before Hatter's arrest. Now I'm wondering if the Hatter isn't actually arrested until he's already at the palace designing the Red Queen's hats and Alice's dress. Perhaps that means when Alice rides the Bloodhound to the palace to save the Hatter, she thinks he's been arrested when he's actually just been summoned to do some design work. Hmmm...It's also interesting that Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska weren't even in the same room together since she wasn't in this shot in the teaser trailer.

* The "only if you believe it is" line has the battle backdrop here rather than the forest one from the international teaser.

* I wonder is this rabbit hole shot is from her entering or leaving Wonderland.

* The Jabberwocky looks amazing. They clearly based him off Tenniel's illustration, which I'm very pleased with.

* Looks Wonderland at the end of this is going to be gorgeous. Not that it isn't already, but it'll be a more serene and less gothic beauty.

* I really, really hope the music we're hearing is Danny Elfman's score for the film. It's fantastic.

So, yes, I'm more than pumped for this. I wish Alice had more lines in the trailer, but she'll have plenty in the film, so I'm not worried. The visual effects also look crisper and more photorealistic than in the teaser. That sort of digital sheen look is gone here.

I'm very happy with how Disney has been marketing this, and with zero competition at that time, this movie just has to become a hit. If it doesn't, then for once we can't blame Disney. They chose a good release date (unlike Prince Caspian) and have been raising awareness of this film months in advance (something that seemed oddly lacking about Enchanted's marketing).

Why isn't it March, yet?!

It's Tim Burton doing Lewis Carroll, so that makes me interested already. Though I'm not too fond of the Mad Hatter's design, to be honest. And this 3-D looks like it falls into the "things popping out of the screen" vain. I felt like I should have been wearing glasses when watching that trailer.

Extended trailer from the UK!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka94tPInrDs

It shows us the real world at the beginning and gives Alice (gasp) lines! This was how I was hoping the trailer would start. I forgot about this in my trailer analysis, but I meant to say how surprised I was that they didn't ease us into Wonderland by showing us the engagement party and rabbit hole stuff. Hopefully an HD version of this pops up soon. It feels more complete to me with these bits at the beginning.

Wow, that looks really good. Now I'm not really aware of the original Alice in Wonderland novel (never read it) so all of the small things Disneykid is talking about are going right past me. Although Helena screaming 'off with her head' is great :D .
I thought the music was very good, and I hope Danny Elfman's score will be another great one. The work Elfman and Burton do together are always amazing, perhaps even more so than Burton does with Depp.
And I totally forgot that Crispin Glover was in this.

Wow.... Jeez! Why can't March hurry up and get here!? I need to see this ASAP!

Everything looks incredible, absolutely stunning! I love all of the character designs (even the March Hare, although he looks a little cartoony) and locations, and I can already tell that this is going to have such an epic feel to it!

And I totally LOL'ed at "I love a nice, warm pig's belly for my aching feet."

The extended trailer is now available in better quality at the official website here:

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/ali ... index.html

And here it is with an introduction by Mia Wasikowska:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7wlWd1J ... r_embedded

So I guess the extended one is actually a domestic one, as well. My guess is Disney's considering that the official trailer worldwide, and the shorter one without the real world scenes is going to be the one shown in theaters with Avatar. That's sort of what happened with the teaser. The 3-D version of it in theaters was missing the shots of Alice running through the woods. I guess this means either the real world scenes won't be in 3-D, or they just haven't completed those, yet. I'm hoping it's the former since it'd give the use of 3-D more of a storytelling purpose.

One thing I noticed in the HD extended trailer is how Hamish (the guy proposing to Alice) vaguely resembles the Mad Hatter: red hair, distinctive teeth, pale skin, and dark circles around the eyes. His bow tie even has a similar color combination as the Hatter's. This can't be a coincidence.

I hadn't noticed that before, AliceinWonderland, but you're absolutely right! The right one is much larger than the left one.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Post by Disney Duster »

I swear that the scenes of Alice running were kept in the 3-D teaser I saw for G-Force...I'm so sure I saw them, and I know I saw her fall down the rabbit hole. I think it was all there, all in 3-D.

But I've come in to comment on the new trailer which has made the film look epically excitingly more amazing than even before! The Red Queen sounds like quite a threat, there's danger, and drama, and adventure, and wonder, and beauty, and coolness!!!! Powerfully awesome, this revisit to a classic tale in such a great way. This movie looks so well-done...

Disneykid, what is the bandersnatch...? Was he from the original? And the jabberwocky was just a poem in the original of a monster, did the poem say he was a real creature in Wonderland originally?

The CGI does indeed look more realistic now, more finished. The Queen's head is fine now, and actually looks great! Her torso doesn't look any bigger than normal... However, the CGI pig quite bothered me in still looking CGI-ish, but not so bad, and it does all work pretty well for the idea that in Wonderland, things look different. It finally works well enough for me. The Wonderland humans looking different from the Wonderland animals...it's not as bad as it was before.

I prefer the new background for the tea party, the dusk one was kind of an eyesore to me, and the Hatter's eyesore orange and yellow colors were also made more red and better as well through the whole film. The whole background, even the windmill changed a lot. And so did the Queen's dressing room. I think the tea party scenes were re-shot, though, at least partly, but maybe not.

I like the White Queen a lot, but of course she reminds me of certain other pure good royal characters... I didn't like how she said her line though, seemed not as innocent or soft as the character looks, but I love how she moves all regal yet floaty. Has anyone noticed her dress looks bluish in the newest poster thing (and the gold crown clashes to me!), and now I see her dress is a lot like Alice's, and they both have blonde hair. So they are supposed to be alike in goodness and other ways. I like the White Queen's dress a lot, by the way!

I do love the music a lot in this trailer! But I did not like the music I heard in the Tea Time fashion show! So...we'll see, or hear.

Also, the guy proposing has greenish blue eyes, at least it looks in some trailers, like the Hatter's green ones.

Well, both times that I went to see A Christmas Carol (in different theaters, too), the 3-D Alice teaser began with the low shot from inside the hole of her approaching it. The shots before that were gone.

The Bandersnatch is merely mentioned in passing in the Jabberwocky poem Alice reads in Through the Looking Glass. The father of the poem's hero warns him to "shun the frumious bandersnatch." There's no description of him at all. So the filmmakers just took that and created their own creature out of it. They did the same with the Jubjub Bird (who snatches Dee and Dum in both trailers).

The Jabberwock never actually makes an appearance in Through the Looking Glass. He's merely the subject of the poem. That hasn't stopped other adaptations from making him a character, though (most notably the 1985 CBS mini series). He was actually going to be in Disney's version as a friend of the Cheshire Cat's. An image of him appears in a read-along book. I can't find the image online, so I'll have to remember to scan it later. There's also a song demo about him (which I guiess was supposed to be sung by the background chorus) on the DVD.

I do still like the Tea Party background, but I'm always drawn to color, and the teaser's dusk setting just pops at me more, even if the misty one from the trailer is a lot easier on the eyes. I guess I'm just biased since dusk is my favorite time of the day.

The Red Queen's torso looks the same, but for some reason in the shot with Jack, she seems to completely dwarf him. I guess it's the perspective and focus that makes it appear that way.

Yeah, I noticed the White Queen's blue tint on the character collage poster. Not sure why that is since her dress will remain white throughout. I do agree that the crown clashes with her costume, but we'll only see it on her in one scene, so that's okay.

Having watched the latest trailer, it vaguely reminds me of American McGee's Alice. (Key word: vaguely.)

Still looking forward to it when it comes to theaters in March.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Post by Disney Duster »

Ah, I love talking to you Disneykid.

I was just wondring if the poem, or anything else in the books gave indication as to whether the Jabberwocky was something just made-up in the poem, a monster that was said to live in Wonderland but was just made-up in the poem, or the monster actually did exist in Wonderland and a poem was written about the real creature.

Hehe, I'm confusing. Also, as you know, Disney has had white/silver look blue in shadow/the dark in many films...Cinderella, Enchanted (though it could have been the blue glow of the well, city lights), and I think even The Princess and the Frog (Tiana's party dress looks white in some scenes).

Oh, and I do like dusk, though sometimes it makes me feel depressed, maybe because it is the day ending, I don't know, night can be sad, even if easier on the eyes. Perhaps a different looking dusk may have been okay for me, or just before dusk, or darker dusk, or mistier, more subdued dusk...

Though why does the Dormouse look like Despereaux? I can't picture all these people sitting together calmly.

Even though it's awkwardly photoshopped, I like this character collage (the other one, however, is still more attractive). It's nice to see the March Hare and Dormouse on there, and it's our first look at the latter without her Red Queen servant attire from the trailer. With all of these character banners and stands being released, it makes me wonder what the final theatrical poster's going to look like.

Perhaps this is a stupid question.... But since when is the Dormous female? Has "she" always been? I never noticed!
