I agree...but I would be in favor of them making some of Roy's wishes come true that he didn't see finished of his family such Disney should release getting Song of the South and Destino or dedicate the Walt Disney Treasures to him....and wasn't he on the recent documentary about princess and the Frog on ABC...

When I went to highschool, there was one guy with the last name Disney. Don't know if he was related to thee Disneys or not.

anyway to answer your question....there are Disney's alive...heck I think Walt's daughter is alive and I know Roy had kids.....not sure how interested they were in running it.... I think Diane Disney does some voicing for a christian animation company like Max Luacardo or something with that and a cateplillar...I know the voice of Pumbaa set up a an animation company that has junior kids shows that teach them about god...so I think Diane works for that perhaps....at least I know I saw her name on the back of the box of one of those one time recently... somthing about a hermy the cattepillar although I am not sure

Also sorry for the back to back post....my timing is very off because a bunch of emotions are flooding back to me.....my meeting and everything my autograph of him in the book im holding in my avatar how I met Spencer breslin at the same hotel I was while he was filming That Cat IN the hat and he and his sister were at the swimmping pool and how Roy VS Eisner taught me the only sense I can make of the stock exchange and how it works for my brain...

Don't worry. We still have John Lasseter, who helped steer Disney in the right direction with Bolt and The Princess and the Frog.

I am shocked and deeply saddened by this.

Roy was the "conscience of the company" and also an important, familial link between the company started by his father and uncle and the modern Disney Co. Wilth Roy involved, the current Walt Disney Company felt like there was some continuity with the company Walt and Roy O. Disney built.

On more than one occasion, Roy stood up for, and helped save, Disney animation. In the mid-80's Katzenberg and others wanted to shut down the animation department but Roy wouldn't let that happen. The result was the Disney Renaisance of the late 80's and 90's.

Roy also stood up for traditional animation in the 2000's, and now The Princess and the Frog is number 1 at the box office.

With his Save Disney campaign, Roy helped steer the company back into a better direction than where it was heading.

With his support for the Disney Treasures line, he helped insure that classic films and television programs from the magical era of Walt would live on and delight longtime fans, new fans, and future generations.

Roy was also a supporter of wildlife and conservation, and I've always enjoyed the animal stories he produced for the Disney anthology series in the 60's and 70's.

Thanks for your dedication to the Disney Legacy, Roy. You will be deeply missed.

I think im starting to cry which I have not done yet....but If anyone wants to know anything about my Make a Wish trip that isn't written down let me know...I want people to know Roy Disney as I met and how I want to make sure that no one will ever forget in time the things that Roy E Disney has accomplished on his father and Uncle's behalf through all these years.....

Yes, Thanks Roy, for being our "Walt". You will be greatly missed, and it was a shame they didn't continue your "Legacy" collection, it would have been nice to see where you were going take that.

It kind of makes me rethink the whole Dick Cook susposed resignation, and Igers influence on it? Waiting for Roy to be too sick to intervene?

This is sad news indeed.
It was Roy who saved Disney.

The obituary says Roy was shy and though. I remember the time of his open revolt against Eisner on 'SaveDisney.com' for which I signed. There will never be another person who is so deeply rooted in Disney-history as Roy.

That was kind of my reaction too. I felt like I knew him a little, especially on the Front Lines Treasure, he tells a memory of his childhood during the War. It's a very sad day for the company and for animation in general. My condolences to his family.

I know that Roy was a person who the fan community adored.

I hope we get a documentary showing his contributions to the company over time.

yeah, that's inappropriate. And besides, Dick Cook's replacement just canceled Wild Hogs 2 - so maybe he's not as bad as we thought.
