Farewell, Roy. You'll be mised. :(
Disney seems to have it worse than others this year. First Wayne Allwine and now Roy...

I always loved it when he came on in documentaries and featurettes on our dvds. It's sad to know that that won't be the case anymore.:(

I never knew he even had cancer. :( I never saw this coming at all.

He was the one who started the Disney Renaissance, and I give him great thanks for that. He was a fighter and a true believer in his uncle's legacy. He was nice to have on the documentaries, and now I really don't know what else to say. This is the perfect example of how random and sudden death can be.

RIP Roy Disney. :(

What I will always remember the most is how he valiantly tried to save Disney animation during the early 00s when Disney wanted to focus on just CG features. It was then that I realized that Roy truly did believe in Disney animation, otherwise he wouldn't have fought so hard to keep it alive in some manner.

With the release and success of Princess and the Frog I hope his efforts weren't in vane.

RIP Roy. Say hi to Walt and Wayne for me...

I just want to cry now! I love Roy Disney because he was always so invested in keeping the true meaning of Disney alive. My deepest condolences. RIP Roy. I'll miss you just as much as I miss the Nine Old Men.

If only my sister didn't mess up our old Disney DVDs with him putting a good word in. I'd go and watch them now.

NOOO! It's sad, I was just thinking about Walt last night, and thought, "Gee, it sucks that he's been gone so long... At least we still have Roy...." And now I read this.... I never even knew he was sick. Now that he's gone, who will be there to save Disney if things get out of hand? Do you think Lasseter's going to end up being the heir to the throne of Disney magic? I hope so.... because if he isn't..... We'll be lost without Roy......

I know that many of you kind of resent Lasseter and don't see him as a "true" heir to the Disney legacy... But I think the company will be just fine with him in charge.

Thanks to him we have Princess and the Frog, some surprisingly good CG efforts, promising future movies, the return of Winnie the Pooh and many other things. He isn't Disney, but he definitely understands what Disney means and is working hard.

If Roy had passed away during the darker years then yeah, I would be worried and sad. But I am not.

I was listening to Peter Pan's commentary the other night, and could tell that Roy's tone was way off. Now that I know that he had cancer, I can understand why he sounded a little bored.

Rest In Peace, Roy. I always loved seeing, hearing, and reading his say on the studio.

Roy Disney Dies

Post by Disney Duster »

It always felt special when he was in anything, because it was like he was the closest to Walt, he had Walt's magic...and he did look like him. It felt like something of Walt was there with him.

And indeed, of his own doing, he kept Walt's magic alive, in him and the company, for everyone.

May he go to that big castle in the sky! I'm sad you're gone Roy, but have fun now!

In the absence of Walt, he was the member of the family keeping the dream alive and the vision of his uncle firmly planted within the corporation. Who will be the next person to take up his banner? I hope there is one...
