I'm curious coz a lot of BD Netflix users are complaining about how long the queues are for newly released BD movies, how long does it take to get a newly released movie on BD ?
My friend uses Blockbuster to rent Blu-rays and hasn't had many problems. Not sure about Netflix. He said new releases he has to wait awhile, but its not bad according to him.

I'm wondering how many Blu-rays Vs. DVDs they stock for new movies. That might make the queue lines longer for the Blu-ray.

I'm very interested in the new Netflix plans that are coming out. Its for streaming movies only, and you don't get any DVD/Blu-ray discs. I just wonder how much they will change, and if the amount of movies/tv shows will increase when they offer this plan.

The streaming movies are included with all there plans, so you can rent DVDs/BDs and at the same time get unlimited access to movies through your Internet. The only thing that's not so good about Blockbuster is the amount of titles, they don't have as much titles as Netflix. I just hope Netflix stock up on more BDs so the queues get shorter and everyone is happy.

I've been using netflix for over 3 years, and only ever looked back for game rentals or homework assignments! My blu-ray access is satisfying, if not perfect.

I didn't know that about Blockbuster.

Yeah you can get the streaming movies with any plan over $8.99 now, but Netflix is making new plans. You want get any DVDs or Blu-rays at all in the mail with these plans and it will only be access to the streaming movies. The plans should be pretty cheap (I think), for those that just want the streaming movies on their Roku Box/360/etc...

I hear Blockbuster takes longer to ship from the nearest facility than Netflix.

I just signed up for Netflix this morning on a whim (and I didn't know that UD had a Netflix affiliate link until I read this thread- ugh, I never remember those links- I'm sorry!). I do enjoy watching movies, although I mostly watch Disney ones, but there are quite a few that I've either been interested in seeing, or have at least heard good things about. I chose the $8.99 a month, 1 DVD at a time plan.

I was at the library the other day, and I borrowed 3 movies, but Netflix's selection blows the library out of the water. And it's pretty cheap, and I'll have a new hobby!

My mom's been a member for a while, so if I have any questions, I can just ask her, I guess. I've top-loaded my list (except for 4 titles) with Christmas movies!

Okay guys, you are paying way too much for your movie rentals. I switched to the local Red Box at my WalGreens down the street. $1 a night, and we are a test market for Blu-Ray rentals. The selection isn't great yet, but is very promising. I always though that NetFlix was cool, but then I started using Red Box and haven't renewed my subscription to NetFlix.

I thought about RedBox, but I figured that Netflix has a better selection. And my mom said that you can get about 7-8 movies a month with Netflix if you time it right, so it's really $1 something per DVD, and the extra $ is worth it for the selection. It sure beats $4.99 a movie at Blockbuster!

Not to mention the time it takes to get to a Redbox, (often) wait in line, and then go through the selection process, and then do the same thing to return it within how ever many hours. The only way I can see Redbox being better is if you're someone who only rents like 1 new-ish movie a month and don't mind renting something and then immediately returning it. And even then, Netflix's $4.99 plan seems way better. Less time, less effort, and such better selection.

So- how much is that a month versus Netflix, per month?

Even with $1 per night rentals, RedBox is not a better value for me than Netflix. For $13 a month on the two at a time plan, I can watch around 15 discs a month with good timing. There's also the online streaming selection, which is great for watching old TV shows.

Mainly, the selection and convenience of Netflix make it my rental agency of choice.

About 20 films in my queue have a "Play" button- I'm so glad I read your post, because I had forgotten about the streaming option- that's even a better deal, because you get more than just 8 movies a month with good timing since you can stream some!

*edit*

Question: My mom mentioned something about if you stream too many movies on Netflix, your Internet provider gets mad because you use too much bandwith or something. I have 0% knowledge of any of this, so if any of you can explain, that'd be awesome. I just streamed a movie today, so does that mean that I can't later this week or something? Thanks! :)

Some internet providers do add a surcharge for exceeding a bandwidth limitation during the month. Cox Cable does not have such a thing right now, but other ISPs do. The best thing to do is check with your provider on their website or on the phone to find out what your restrictions are or if they exist at all.

I just did the online chat on Brighthouse's website, and the person said that we don't have a limit! Woo-hoo! Thanks for the advice, Brandon!

I have the Netflix $8.99 plan plus, $2.00 for Blu-Ray access. I got the instant streaming disc for the PS3 (which they will ship you for free), and I am really enjoying it. I've seen quite a few movies that I would never have gotten around to watching, plus, watched a lot of the streaming on my PS3. I've got all of the episodes of LOST in my instant streaming queue, as I've never seen the show, and it's in HD! I can't wait to get around to those! Just got G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on Blu-Ray from Netflix, today.

I just joined Netflix a few hours ago, and have already ordered and streamed a movie! :P

It was really on a whim, and it's so much easier and better than our local movie store or library's video selection. And now with our new Blu-Ray player, we can stream them to that from the TV!

I recommend it to everyone. The sign-up process was extremely easy and so far, everything seems to be working out!

I just canceled my Netflix membership. I just finished watching the one movie left in my queue (not including movies that just came out or will be coming out soon) that I really wanted to see...I didn't care too much about the others. One movie that my library has about 3 copies of, I guess I didn't have time to take it out of my queue before it was delievered, so I spent money on that when I didn't need to, but the other 2 movies I really wanted to see I got from the library (one I still have to watch). I can always re-start up, so I feel that I got my $16-$17 worth (that includes the 2-week free trial), and now for newer movies, I'll just go to Redbox, and for older movies (and newer movies), I can go to the library.

I just got my Netflix Disc and am going through titles to decide what I want to watch instantly instead of using discs. Naturally, Lost and Pan's Labyrinth came up, along with some documentaries.
