Enchanted on TV! So soon?

Post by tsom »

Apparently, Enchanted will be on the USA network December 18, 2009 at 9:00 PM.

I'm just surprised it's on television so soon.

Game Plan premiered on USA network, too. I think back in late October or early November?

Sad that Disney Channel COULD air these and haven't yet.

I wish Disney Channel WOULD air these first. They are airing Santa Clause 3 tonight (the DC premiere), but ABC Family premiered that first.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Yeah, although it may seem soon, it really isn't so soon. Movies usually premiere on TV 2 - 3 years after their theatrical release, so this year would seem right to show Enchanted.

Yeah, cable starts showing movies earlier, but that's fine with me! YAY! Enchanted is my favorite Disney movie in years. Did anyone hear that Amy Adams is expecting a baby with her fiance?

Yeah, I get digital cable too and I know it's always on Starz and Encore. I'm just surprised that its on a network that will air it with commercials, if you get what I mean.

Maybe things have changed, but I thought it usually takes about 3-4 years before a movie comes on a channel other than HBO, CineMax, Starz, etc. Also, I would have thought Enchanted would have its televsion premiere on a channel like ABC, ABC Family, or the Disney Channel.

I wouldn't want it on ABC Family with their obsession with commercial breaks. When they air Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, they put aside 3 1/2 hours for it, but Disney Channel which finally premiered it earlier this year, they managed to have no interruptions for the premiere and minimum interruptions for each subsequent airing.

Disney made $50 M letting USA have broadcast rights to this and six other movies: Story Seems like an especially good deal because Disney Channel doesn't have paid commercials.

so its ALL about the almighty $ for Disney.

Problem is, USA network will be probably airing adultish commercials during the commercial breaks and 'Enchanted' is a FAMILY film.

Shocking, I know, to have exposed such a thing.

And if by "adultish" you mean "White Collar"... then yes.

USA became a soft-core porn channel so gradually I didn't even notice.

Clearly! How else could you describe a film where a fully clothed woman touches a man's partially exposed chest? And less than 24 hours after she'd straddled him wearing only a towel! How can we expose children to such filth?!
