They air the Beethoven movies MORE than they air anything Disneyish.

The main reason, as I understand it, is because Disney Channel is contractually obligated to air around 25% licensed content. They used to show more Disney movies, but at the time they also aired reruns of non-Disney shows like Sister Sister, Growing Pains, Smart Guy, etc... Currently, most of the shows that air are produced by Disney, with the exception of Life With Derek. As a result, they have less air time to devote to movies made by Disney.

That's a bummer about the postponement, which also affected A Charlie Brown Christmas.

On the bright side, Hallmark is showing the Alan Menken musical version of A Christmas Carol tonight starting at 8PM ET/7PM CT.

They would have more time if they didn't have marathons of shows every day. Today they aired Hannah Montana from 12:30 (right after a movie ended) until at least 2:30 or 3:00. Then they were to air Jonas. Cut back on the constant repeating of the same shows over and over and you'd have more time for Disney studio produced movies.

They should be obligated to air Disney Studio made films ONLY.

Toy Story hasn't aired for a few years now.

Anyway, Disney channel COULD have aired Prep and Landing.

Yeah, Family Channel (the Canadian equivalent of Disney Channel) pulls the same thing. Do they honestly need to air Hannna Montana eight times a day? They could use all of that extra time to air classic shows like Boy Meets World, Even Stevens, Darkwing Duck, Dinosaurs, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers and Are You Afraid of the Dark (which they used to air, but don't...ever).

I actually sent them an e-mail last year, but I could one of those cliched automatic responses which weren't helpful in the slightest.

Yeah, its something like Canada wants the profits for themselves and only allows Canadian run stations and requires a certain amount of Canadian programming. Don't remember where I read it but the government seems to control their programming and doesn't allow much freedom to outside companies wanting to get in. Not that having the actual Nickelodeon or Disney would help, as all their good programming has fallen off and you'd just get 24/7 Spongebob and Hanna Montana.

I didn't catch it on CTV but I'll catch it on ABC, kinda glad it's not on Family Channel just yet... at least it'll be HD this way.

This includes news programs too, its not a bad policy -- though there have been some spectacular failures but a lot of success too. I personally don't mind it, some great CANADIAN programming on CBC.

You didn't miss it on CTV. CTV is airing it on Sunday, and online on Monday.

Canadian broadcasting needs more shows like Trailer Park Boys!

And no, it won't be showing with Princess and the Frog. Originally it was supposd to be a theatrical release, probably with Frog, but the powers that be at Disney decided to air it on ABC instead.

I thought it was fun and generally good, but nothing special. I liked the character designs (especially the reindeer) and the animation was top notch, I just couldn't care that much about the story. The dog they encounter at the beginning looked like they must have used the same model from Bolt.

My favorite part was the Mickey's Christmas Carol cameo.

I loved the Mickey's Christmas Carol nod as well. Nice touch, considering John Lasseter worked on that short.

Anyway, I absolutely loved the special. I was laughing through a lot and I really liked how they combined the gadgetry with Christmasy things. The message was typical of this sort of programme, but the writers didn't stuff it down our throats. Excellent special.

I must say, I agree with Brer Brandon. I did like the story, but I think it could have been better developed, maybe if it had been a little longer. Did anyone else sincerely question the logic of the whole operation, though? I mean, it seems like they were going through a lot for a single house, which appeared to be the only house in the area that Santa visited. Oh, and on a minor point... why did they have to name that boy Timmy? Isn't that, like, the most typical Christmas-special child-name ever?
