The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh isn't one of my favorite Disney Animated Classic but I think it should get a 2 Disc Masterpiece Edition treatment. I do own the sequels The Tigger Movie, Piglet Big Movie and Spring time with Roo.
I really like the sequels more the original for some reason. I guess I don't like Winnie the Pooh very much I guess it's the silly old bear.
My favorite character would be Tigger and Roo. The others are ok but I really dislike Pooh.

I really enjoy watching Winnie the Pooh. The DVD is probably going to be the next Disney DVD I buy of those already on the market.
This is a little bit off-topic, but I wish the next movie in theaters was about Eeyore instead of a Heffalump. There is a reason that there is a boatload more merchandise for Eeyore than any other minor Pooh character!

I think it's time Rabbit gets his/her (which is it?) own movie.

I do believe Rabbit is male. At least, to me he's always had a very male voice. I suppose his anal retentiveness comes off as a bit feminine.awallaceunc wrote:I think it's time Rabbit gets his/her (which is it?) own movie.

Actually, although I am not a big fan of Disney's more modern Pooh endeavors, a humorous side of Rabbit in the original books was that he was always plagued by his enormous group of 'relations' (being that he's a rabbit and all). That could make for a (possibly decent) movie right there, I'd say!

Author strives to echo Milne in 'Winnie-the-Pooh' sequel

I'm actually quite excited by this new book. Also, I wonder if it will become a classic over time, and Disney might use some of the stories in upcoming Pooh films.
The Pooh films have never been my favorites, but I do enjoy them. They're cute. I do like and appreciate the different personalities of all the characters. Eeyore will always be my favorite...he's just so gosh darn gloomy, and I love that.
As far as "The Ultimate Guide to Pooh", I haven't read it in quite a while, so I will be reading it right now...
I never put 2 and 2 together before...
Very nice overview, Loomis!

The storybook idea is definitely a pretty unique one, and it makes it more fanciful, if that's the right word. To me, it's quite magical, going from one page to another, and the things that happen on the pages themselves; they're not just static pages. Like, there is animation on the pages, and I've always enjoyed that.this film manages to maintain a consistent storybook feel throughout, something which I believe has made the film all the more endearing to viewers over the years.
The show was always a success with me, and with lots of people who grew up watching it! I loved how they were puppets. I don't know if little me thought that they were more "real" than seeing them in animated form or what, but I adored this show."Welcome to Pooh Corner" (TV series) (1983)
"Puppetronic" version of the characters. Unsure of its success, but Disney wisely moved back to animated Pooh after this.
Vol. 3 - It's Playtime With Pooh (very unfortunate title)

Thanks for telling us about that! I love the original Milne books (sometime I'll have to purchase a copy of those) and I'll be very intrigued to see if this new guy can live up to his stories because they really were spectacular.blackcauldron85 wrote:Bumpity bump bump. Bump bump.

There isn't a real soundtrack to this film, but on Amazon I found this CD:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eimprovemz
Does anyone here have the album? Do you know if these are the original versions of the songs from the film? (Well, Tracks 1-8 and 10?) Or is there a better Pooh album out there with songs from this film? Thanks!

If I had to guess, I'd guess that those are the re-recordings done (predominantly) by Jim Cummings that are available elsewhere. Someone almost says as much in the comments, and I'm pretty sure the original LPs have never really been released completely on disc form.
The Jim Cummings tracks aren't bad, per se, I used them in my own "The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh" soundtrack. They're just not the same as the movie.

Thanks, Brendan! There's this CD I saw at the same time, but didn't ask about it here since it's missing some songs, but this one has song snippets you can listen to, and I'm guessing that the songs from the original film (not Pooh's Heffalump Movie) are the re-recordings? They don't sound bad, from these snippets:

Thanks again!
Do you have any idea why Disney hasn't released the movie versions of the songs? (I have the DVD rips of some of the songs, and some are from Disney Classics (or whatever that 5-volume CD set is), but we only have copies of those made by a family member, and I'm really trying to get the real copies of all the available soundtracks.
I know that back in the day, often alternate recordings were released on records for movie soundtracks, but it still doesn't make much sense to me, and why they wouldn't, after all these years, release the original versions...

That never bothered me, but what does bother me is Bernard's eyes in The Rescuers. So many side characters have whites around their pupils, but what should be white on his eyes are gray like his fur.Mooky wrote:Totally random observation: is anyone else baffled by Christopher Robin's eyes being mere dots on his face? It's as if he's a puppet himself.

Is it just me, or do Bernard's eyes change from time to time? I could have sworn that they are sometimes just dots, and sometimes normal eyes with pupils.... Maybe I'm just imagining it...

I think it's just in the sequel that Bernard and Bianca had legit eyes with whites... wasn't the whiteless eyes what made Don Bluth leave the studio? Those things are full of controversy.

Yeah, I guess that's what I was thinking of. Still, it seems kind of odd to me that the eyes are different.... ah well.SpringHeelJack wrote:I think it's just in the sequel that Bernard and Bianca had legit eyes with whites... wasn't the whiteless eyes what made Don Bluth leave the studio?
