For once I'm happy that they are cheap sob's. :D

buffalobill wrote:Thanks Barbossa. I know I'll be getting a bd player if just for upconverting eventually. And with the $10 coupon the 4 disc blu ray is cheaper than the 2 disc deluxe. Since the features (shorts & deleted scene & 22 minute featurette & commentary) are in it I'd be a fool not to buy the combo. I appreciate your advice.
No worries. I was confused by it too. I don't know why Disney can't list what's on the DVDs in these combos. On UD's review:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/up.html
It said this 12 paragraphs down the page (just above the "Audio and Video" section:
...and a Blu-ray combo which includes the deluxe DVD and digital copy.
I don't have Blu equipment yet either so the Blu will be collecting dust for a little while longer.

The DVD in the Combo Pack contains the movie, "Adventure is Out There" Documentary, the two shorts, and the Commentary from the director and Bob Peterson.

Just Myself wrote:Went to two different Targets..... The first was a Super Target and they did not have Monsters Inc. Some guy claimed that the entire Orlando area Target stores did not get Monsters Inc. (to which I responded "Yeah, right. You're just saying that because your store didn't stock enough to meet demand. AGAIN." ). So, I went to my local Target store and they had both items... However, they wouldn't price match because they said the Best Buy Blu-ray didn't come with the Adventure Book and that was a Target Exclusive. :x

Oh well, all said and done it was $21.57 for both Blu-ray packages. I have no use for the DVD's / digital copies, so I'll just sell those at F.Y.E. :P

Cheers,

yeah...Target wouldn't price match Up either because they had the Target Adventure book and they woulnd't do the $18.99 Monsters Inc for some stupid reason I can't remember....and they wrang up all 3 coupons but they said the sticker on the box woudln't work....and they tried it and they a message popped up saying there were too many coupons so it wouldn't accept the one on the package...so they were $26.99 each minus $28 With the three coupons - It was $28.99 and I didn't feel like going to look for a better deal so....oh well...so much for $15 total...

This is what bugs me with the Blu/DVD combos. They say Disc 2 (or 3) is the DVD of the film, but they don't list what DVD bonus features are included. The same thing happened with DisneyNature's earth back in September. Wasn't sure which one to buy until I found out the same DVD was included in the combo, including the making-of featurette.

I guess Snow White didn't have any DVD bonus features, that's why I'm waiting another couple of weeks for the 2-Disc DVD.

Please Disney; list the DVD features on the Combo set covers as well!

What about the alternate scene: The Many Endings of Muntz? I know it's only a 5 minute feature but I was just wondering if you lose that for sd dvd when you buy the bd combo pack? Barbossa is right in that Disney should list the dvd features on the combo pack.

Well, I got Up today at Best Buy because I had preordered it there to get the steelbook case. I tried to get it with Monsters, Inc., thinking I could get ten dollars off for buying them together, plus use at least one if not two of the online coupons. However, they wouldn't let me use the coupons AND get the ten dollar deal for buying them together (didn't think they would, they're sticklers in my area), so I ended up just buying "Up" with the coupon. It came out to 7 something, on top of the 7 something to preorder. Still, not bad for a blu-ray. I am strapped for cash right now, so I'll probably just wait on Monsters, Inc. I still need to get most of the PIXAR Blus because I already have them on standard and since I have a PS3 but no HDTV yet, I can get buy with the standards for now. I just don't want them to go into the vault or anything before I snag them. So far, I only have Wall-E and "Up" on blu from PIXAR (have all their others on standard, including the old collector's edition of A Bug's Life and the Ultimate Toy Box).

Do any of the Pixar movies go into the vault anymore? I know the Toy Stories did, but before we knew it, they were out on store shelves again.

Hey if you have not opened the Blu-Ray yet, I advise you to return it and go back get the BEST DEAL possible. I am getting sick of the huge corporations taking advantage of the consumer!!

1. You had every right to use BOTH coupons from the on-line Print outs.
2. Best Buy on-line has the Blu-Ray for $19.99
3. Even if you pre-orders that does not mean anything, YOU STILL SPENT MONEY on it!!

Here is my break down on my BEST BUY DEAL today...(I know others got some better deals, but I think I got a great deal)

1. Price match on-line (BESTBUY.com $19.99), and use $10.00 off COUPON....$9.99 Before tax.

2. Then Monster's Inc drops down to $18.99 if you buy UP together, BEST BUY has it on their Ad!! So they can not say no...use $8.00 off which brings it to $10.99

$10.99 + $9.99 = $19.99 before tax, all together with tax ($3.70) I spent $23.68, so about $12.00 each on Blu-Ray!!!

**Note even if you did opened go back, and talk to a manager or someone competent.

So... what copies of "Monsters Inc." have a coupon printed on the slipcover? Is that a Target exclusive thing?

I don't know, I never really kept track because I always bought them the first day they came out. It's only now that they're coming out on blu-ray that I haven't been ready to rebuy yet (since blu-rays are pricey, I haven't done much double dipping yet because I don't even have an HDTV to appreciate the difference yet).

Well, I could say there are no local, competent managers, or I could say they are so competent that they know the fine print well enough. They pointed to the old line on the coupon about not using it with any other offer, which I have heard a million times around here. I don't know how it is in other areas, but where I live, they always point that out right away and it is the law of the land that you can't get around. As for price matching, many places here won't do it, but particularly not with their own online sales. They consider the online deals totally separate from the in-store deals. Circuit City was particularly bad about that, so I wasn't all that sad to see them go (except for the loss in competition for other stores).

Online, it seems easier to use coupons and such, but I can't shop online because I don't have a credit card (and don't plan on getting one).

And I know that preordering still involves paying, but breaking up the payment was actually helpful to me. Like I said, I am low on cash this week, so it was nice to only pay 7 something, even if I already had paid about the same amount. I at least have enough left to take advantage of the current Toys R Us DVD sale, which has several titles 2 for 20, including some Disney double features I want. With the little bit of cash I have left combined with a gift card I recently got, I hopefull can get both the Inspector Gadget double feature and the Honey sequels double feature tomorrow... (looks at clock) tonight, rather.

Incidentally, I can't use PM's here at U.D.

What state are you from, and if you really want it (I knnow you said you are low on cash), go to another Best Buy, or buy them at Target!! Does not matter if you have the Steel case already. It is their loss for not making the customer happy! Take you business and money eleswhere!!

I wasn't initially interested in Monsters Inc. (already have the original DVD release) but after reading about all the possible great deals here I went ahead and printed out the Target and DMR coupons.

Target was a bust. I can't believe they'd make that coupon available and only stock one or two Monsters Inc. sets in each store! The employees did their best to be helpful at least, calling around to different stores after searching their own. Most of the stores only had one copy that was being held for another customer. I was literally waiting around for over half an hour before they located an unclaimed copy that could be held under my name.

I made a couple of wrong turns on the way to the other store, and by the time I got there they had *just* closed. There has to be an easier way to get a good deal . . .

So I'll be heading there tomorrow in hopes that they'll still be holding Monsters Inc. *and* will have the combo pack for Up (the first store was sold out of those as well, which I didn't even notice until the employee was about halfway through all the phone calls). Oh, and after reading further experiences here, I'm also hoping that they'll take the price matching and coupons. Who knows at this point? I don't seem to be having much luck tonight.

I'm in Texas. And, unfortunately, I'm too familiar already with the business techniques used around here to waste time and gas TRYING fruitlessly to get the full deal. I'll be content for now with having gotten the 10 bucks off for "Up".

There were only two copies of Monsters, Inc. that I saw, on Blu-Ray anyway, at the Best Buy I went to, by the way. They had loads of Up, but I only saw those two Monsters, Inc. copies. It's funny, how they stock stuff. They didn't have any copies of Star Wars Clone Wars Season 1 on the day it came out (had to get it that Friday), but they had Justice League the complete series, which wasn't even supposed to be out yet. Gotta go back for Justice League, by the way, but I didn't have enough to get it at the time.

You sound like the perfect candidate for a debit card. You can't go into debt if you use one. They just won't make the sale if you don't have enough money.

There is. Go to Best Buy where Up is $23.99. When you purchase Up with Monster's Inc., they take $10 off making Monster's Inc. $18.99. Then use the $10 coupon on Up making it $13.99 and the $8 coupon on Monster's Inc. making it $10.99.

Grand total for Up and Monster's Inc. on Blu-Ray = $24.98.

My local Best Buy had lots of copies of Monster's Inc.

Thanks for the info, goofystich. This can still be a little confusing overall, lol. I'm not sure what I'm going to do today; I may venture forth to that Target, but tell them to shove it if they can't being my total down below what I can get at Best Buy.

Can anyone who actually has the Blu-Ray Combo Pack 100% confirm that the DVD disc actually includes the following bonus features:
1. Dug's "Special Mission" -- All-New Short Follows The Misadventures Of Dug
2. "Partly Cloudy" -- Theatrical Short
3. Director Commentary "Adventure Is Out There" -- Fascinating Documentary Chronicling The Filmmakers' Journey To South America
4.. "The Many Endings Of Muntz" -- Witness The Demise Of Charles Muntz With An Unseen Alternative Take

Or does it only include the following:
1. Dug's "Special Mission" -- All-New Short Follows The Misadventures Of Dug
2. "Partly Cloudy" -- Theatrical Short
