Also, I agree about not doing Minnie, Daisy and Chip'N'Dale sets. It seems silly to put them out when it's such a double dip, why not just put out the early treasure waves instead

Is there really even hope for this wave? I mean, from what I understand Disney's been reluctant enough releasing the last wave or two. As well as reducing the number of Tins released. Now factor in the fact a lot of people are disappointed in the Zorro wave, I wonder if poor sales on the Zorro will have a negative impact on whether or not there is a next wave.

>>Seems to be since none of us really got what we wanted we can just refer to the speculation on Wave 9.<<
Don't speak for me... I'm THRILLED to be getting a complete Zorro collection in back and white!!!
Next I want more of the anthology shows with original classic Walt Disney animation, such as Ludwig, Ranger, Jiminy, etc.

What a terrible year. First lousy treasures now Jerry Beck informs us by way of Shokus radio there will be no Looney Toons this year either. On hold until after the recession is over. There goes my winter TV viewing with the kids. Oh well, can always recycle the first waves, it has been long enough.

I am also super excited for this years wave. I sympathize with the non-Zorro fans, though. In the past we Treasures collectors have been offered a variety to choose from, whereas this year only caters to either those who collect all of the Treasures or those who are Zorro fans. Hopefully next year will be more diverse.

That's me too. I'm excited about the Zorro tins, but I understand that people are upset that that's it, so that's why I created this thread. So that people can talk about what they wanted on a more diverse wave.goofystitch wrote:I am also super excited for this years wave. I sympathize with the non-Zorro fans, though. Indeed, there'd be so much less speculation if they hadn't overloaded the first Rarities volume. Instead we're left with just the 3 solo Chip 'n' Dale cartoons, "Casey Bats Again," "Suzie the Little Blue Coupe," "It's Tough Being a Bird," and tons of guessing. I wouldn't mind (at least partially) filling out the set with post-Walt shorts, since many of them have been stronger than the actual features ("The Small One," "John Henry," "The Little Match Girl," etc.).mvd24 wrote:Me too!Lars Vermundsberget wrote:
At this point, though, one more set could fix the whole problem. No surprise, that's what I'm hoping for.
That's the Treasure I wish for the most.
I think the first disc could be filled with the remaining theatrical shorts from Walt's time:
"Susie", "Casey", the 3 Chip & Dale's, the 2 missing Goofy's, the original Winnie the Pooh etc. + some Alices / Laugh o grams.
The second disc could either be devoted to educational shorts (like the "I'm no fool.."s)
Or theatrical animated shorts from Walt's time to present. Like "Small one" for example.
Me too I would like proper anamorphic presentations of the cinemascope cartoons on the original Rarities set.

Walt Disney Treasures Wave X Discussion
Walt Disney Treasures Wave X Discussion

Since Zorro's Wave 9 is out I thought it would be time to start a thread for Wave 10.
What do you think will be in Wave 10? Will there even be a Wave 10? Discuss!
**************************************************************************
Since it's wave X, I want to believe...
I hope, there will be a wave X.
Ludwig Von Drake maybe?
People and Places?
Another theme park set?
Maybe Song of the South finally?
Hope the economic situation or swine flu doesn't kill this line next year and it reaches wave X.

Walt Disney Treasures Wave X Discussion

Anyway, I'm sure Rudy Matt and merlinjones will campaign enough for "People and Places" and Ludwig Von Drake, respectively, so I won't bother suggesting those.
I still want a Treasures-that-is-all-double-dip-save-for-three-shorts Chip 'n' Dale set and more of "Hardy Boys" and "Spin & Marty".

Four words:

I don't care if it's the only tin released. I really don't. As long as enough exist for me to get a copy, I will be thrilled.

I will be happy with any of the suggestions really...just so there is another wave. I just wont be too anxious if it ends up being a People and Places set. We already have the only episode that I personally have any interest in.
I really like the way wave 9 was released .....having fewer tins but more content in them. This is the way Spin and Marty, Hardy Boys, Swamp Fox, and Elfego Baca should have been released. With this presentation in mind I would like to suggest the following. Since Disneylands California Adventure Park is opening the night show World of Color next year.....I think it would be nice to release a set of movies that werent shown in US theaters but appeard on Walt Disneys Wonderful World of Color. Sammy the Way out Seal, Escapade in Florence, The Horsemasters, The Prince and the Pauper and other great but rarely seen Disney live action films could be included in this. In the Second 6 Disc Volume we could make more people happy by including the Ludwig Von Drake shorts and other World of Color content that was more focused on Animated movies and Characters.
JUST ANOTHER 27 YEAR OLD DISNEY BUFF.....

Isn't the "EPCOT" film already available in the Tomorrowland Treasures?
Or are there more films about Epcot that just haven't been released yet?

Well they could include the EPCOT Center opening day special, Magic Journeys, Captain EO, the True Colors pre-show to those films, Symbiosis, etc. A mix of both promotional content and actual attraction footage.Escapay wrote:Isn't the "EPCOT" film already available in the Tomorrowland Treasures?

anetfan has some great ideas about expanded tins for "Wonderful World of Color" content - - I'd be all for that. Here are my personal passions for great Walt era content that needs to find a way to the public again:
Song of the South
Ludwig VonDrake (18 one hour shows plus featurette)
Ranger Woodlore and Humphrey (shorts plus 4 one hour shows)
Chip N Dale (all shorts plus hour show)
Your Host The Magic Mirror (6 or 7 one hour shows)
Your Host Jiminy Cricket (educational shorts plus Jiminy hosted hour shows)
Swamp Fox (entire series)
Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Animation (all the cartoon related anthology shows - - about 80 hours through the late 60's)
Best of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color
The Prince and the Pauper (3 one hours plus theatrical version)
Disney Rarities 2 (the rest of the animated shorts and featurettes through the 70's - - plus the cool 50's commercials)
Disneyland 3 (including From Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow and Disneyland Showtime!- - plus films shown as attractions/preshows at the park)
Annette 2 (MMC highlights, Horsemasters, Escapade in Florence, music sequences)
Spin and Marty 2 and 3 (with Annette and Darlene)
Hardy Boys 2
Corky and White Shadow
Disney Family Album (entire series -- plus Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life)
A Walt Disney Christmas
A Walt Disney Halloween
The Mouse Factory (entire series)
People and Places
Song of the South

Thank you, I've been saying this forever, and I'd LOVE to have the opening special on DVD, and definitely Captain Eo and any other park films they might consider including (extinct attraction films would be awesome to get; How about "The Making of Me" or the footage from "Cranium Command"?). I wouldn't even mind them double dipping on the other EPCOT film if it means getting some of this stuff!Flanger-Hanger wrote:Well they could include the EPCOT Center opening day special, Magic Journeys, Captain EO, the True Colors pre-show to those films, Symbiosis, etc. A mix of both promotional content and actual attraction footage.Escapay wrote:Isn't the "EPCOT" film already available in the Tomorrowland Treasures?

Fact is, there are tons of potential Treasures sets they can make, and as has been stated, we've gone over many of them before. We do this every time a new wave is released. Some I would like to see the most are:
A second rarities set: There is a lot of material left to include here, from Chip 'n' Dale shorts to Jiminy Cricket, It's Tought to be a Bird, Dad, Can I borrow the Car, the What Should I Do series, Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons, Scrooge McDuck and Money (dying to get that one on DVD), and probably other stuff... There are plenty of educational shorts to fill out the set too, if need be, and the few theatrical shorts made since the 60s should be included as well, even Goofy's latest and Mickey's Runaway Brain (since the audio was out of sync in the Mickey set). There's Little Match Girl, John Henry, the Roger Rabbit shorts if they could include them, and more... They should even put Destino here. I don't really think it requires its own set. And we badly need an unaltered release of Small One!
The rest of Swamp Fox and El Fego Baca: Wish they had come out in individual sets, like Zorro. John Slaughter and the other, similar heroes should get sets like that too. But mainly, I'm a big Swamp Fox fan and feel so cheated there.
Your hosts, Jiminy Cricket and Ranger Woodlore or a first Von Drake set, or some other combination, maybe one that can squeeze in Moby Duck's episode of the anthology series. Perhaps The Disney Ducks, a set that could have some Ludwig episodes, the episode or two hosted by Donald that aren't released yet, and
Definitely, more park sets. The EPCOT one we spoke of is high on my wish list, but there are plenty of shows that are DVD worthy that could be put together on the other parks too, like Disneyland Showtime and the Mouseketeers go to Walt Disney World. Some sort of complete '70's Mickey Mouse Club set should be released to include that. Or, as I've suggested before, some decade themed sets going outside the bounds of Walt's time, like '70's, 80's, and 90's sets for stuff like Fluppy Dogs, Soccermania, Totally Minnie, certain birthday celebrations (like the Mickey birthday with Roger Rabbit), and so on.... Holiday themed sets are another great idea, for those classic holiday specials, the old Christmas show or the Disney Halloween Treat for example, and movies like Mr. Boogedy.
And, of course, Song of the South needs any kind of release it can get, and the Treasures is a great way to do it (I think it's possible we might see this if they don't kill the line), and maybe a set for the package films so we can have them uncut.
