I fondly recall the olden days when Zemeckis could make a movie without the need for mo-cap. I didn't know how potentially accurate my "Jim Carrey is mo-capped Eddie Valiant" suggestion could be.

Here's where it gets tricky. Even at its best, mo-cap technology creates characters that indisputably look animated. For the new movie, the prospect would be that for all the tech advances, the human actors would look less real than they did in the first film. Unless – and here we jump into pure speculation mode – that mo-cap look would be part of the storyline. Be still our cartoonishly beating hearts, could the film take place predominantly — or perhaps just the 3-D mo-cap portions — in Toontown?

The writer has a good idea there and I think he might be right.

Any Roger Rabbit movie is better than nothing at this time. We've waited FAR too long for a comeback of Toontown's craziest rabbit.

And if this really does mean things like more merchandise tie-ins and, most of all, a return of the Roger costumed character to the Disney theme parks, then I'm really all for this sequel being made even more.

And really, I guess it will be kind of interesting to see CGI (well, mocap, but, whatever) characters appearing side-by-side with the traditionally animated ones... Has that ever been done before?
It could be pretty good, anyway. As long as the plot is something interesting. Preferable keeping the film noir elements, since that's what made Roger Rabbit, well... Roger Rabbit!

Well, Bonkers was Disney's attempt at making a Roger Rabbit television series after Steven Spielberg got peeved at Michael Eisner (thinking about it, who wasn't angry at Michael Eisner in the past two decades? ). I remember Bonker being a pretty good show, despite the absense of Roger, Eddie and Jessica. Of course, it's been about ten years or so since I last saw an episode.

That's the thing about sequels, you never know what will happen. Look at Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger, and Chucky; at the end of the movie or a sequel they get killed but in the next they come back to life. It sounds intriguing that Christopher Lloyd wants to return. We'll just have to wait and see.

and more recently...the return of Barbossa In Dead Man's Chest From Pirates of the Carribbean perhaps and the return of Jack Sparrow in At World's End (though we knew that would happen no doubt) after being killed in Dead Man's Chest

They brought him back in a Marvel comics Graphic Novel: Roger Rabbit: The Resurrection of Doom. Kinda funny how they did it, too, ha.

Yeah, even Stephen Lang in Avatar (as the Colonel Quaritch) recently said that he might return in the sequal, even though his character had been shot twice in the chest by a Na'vi warrior.

"Robert Zemeckis was interviewed while attending the “Cine & Chianti” retrospective in Tuscany (Italy) and he talked again about the upcoming Roger Rabbit sequel. He said that probably Steven Spielberg will join him again for the making of this movie (Spielberg producing, Zemeckis directing), but also kinda revealed that the sequel might be presented in 3D!!

But don’t get alarmed fellas: he talks about the 3D feature that’s the current trend on movie theaters, not the CGI-animated graphics. The animation on the sequel will remain 2D and live action sequences will be filmed, just like in the original movie. Even he explains the differences between the 3D films that are being projected currently (the computer-made ones and true 3D films that require special equipment for its filming, against the 2D movies converted to 3D) and how Roger Rabbit 2 will take advantage of the newest technologies for providing a better experience to the audiences.
