Wow, is that second one safe to post here?
Not that I'm complaining mind you, it's no secret that I've drawn more explicit stuff than this myself . . .
I'm a little mixed about this. On one hand, I think it's cool that cartoons can be depicted in an adult manner in a widespread form. I think it's a huge step actually that an established, popular cartoon character can appear in Playboy, in a country where "nekkid toons" is extremely high on the taboo list and where cartoons in general are still mostly geared toward the younger set. On the other hand, it just had to be Marge, didn't it.
And don't get me wrong, I was an avid Simpsons fan when I was younger. I still enjoy the show from time to time, but it's not high on my priority list anymore. Once again, I really don't get the sexual appeal of Marge. Any toon can be drawn with a generally attractive figure, but the given designs of the Simpson-style faces throw me off. To each his own though.
Back to Lois for just a minute . . . yeah, I agree she's got a more suitable personality for this type of role, but I'd have to lean in the same direction as Marge when it comes to the style of her face. The main reason I pointed out that I thought she'd sell a lot more copies is that she's a much more popular character among the fans of this stuff.
I obviously can't see Disney ever agreeing to publish official sexy half-nude pin-ups of their girls in a magazine like Playboy. Although perhaps they were really pushing it with Jessica Rabbit at one time, and Tink has taken all sorts of poses that might make other Disney girls blush (the only reason she gets away with the teeny outfit and certain poses is because she's a fairy).
I do think it's a little nuts that artists set up adult content for everyone to see at the comic cons . . . for crying out loud, I'm all for freedom of expression and what-not but there are children wandering around those things, keep them put away until they're asked for.
