I am very, very sad. I was a local promoter for the WWF in the mid 1990s and Lou really was not around but I remember meeting him in airports a couple of times in the 1980s. I was once snowed in in Denver and spent hours with Lou Albano and Nikolai Volkoff(Joe Peruzovic). They were both so nice, humble and friendly.
In a business filled with scum he was one of the true good guys. He had not been well the last three of four years.
God's speed Lou.
Why couldn't the Ultimate Warrior be dead. What a moron. How many times can you get caught with drugs at the border? Now who is going to wrestle Andre the Giant? The guy is almost dead and he makes it to the bloody match. Oh, sorry about the ugly flashback.

You know that I love hearing your WWF stories. Andre should have just crushed Warrior though.

Even though he was in an immense amount of pain I think he could of destroyed anyone he wanted to in seconds including Hogan. I suppose all you had to do was get him off his feet and he was done but he was just so bloody strong. And so nice.DaveWadding wrote:

You know, Mr.Toad's stories confirm my belief that many wrestlers are, deep down, gentle giants. Lou Albano was one of them. Even though he was a big, tough looking guy, he seemed to have a good sense of humor about it. He did kid's stuff, made fun of himself, and appeared in stuff that people would think is ridiculous (like appearing in Cindy Lauper's videos).

I dunno, I mean, 77 is kind of old, not to mention he had health problems apparently. It's not incredibly long, but I don't think you can say his life was short and unfulfilled.

well the term of who considers what age Old is varies from person to person....Like I was showing a 5 year old at Salvation Army a Lion King book but he said he had no clue what that was...but was praising Kung Fu Panda toys....which that makes me feel old and I am 22.....heck it makes me feel old when I think Toy Story was made 14 years ago and the people I place Yu-gi-oh with are the same age as Toy Story.....so that in itself makes me feel like an old old fossil....
My Grandpa who died 17 years ago this coming Saturday died at 70.....after a few strokes and my other Grandma who was my Dad's mother died at 75 although that death was very tragic...she was 75 with her heart working 30% and was diabetic.....so we figured one day we would get a call from the hospital that she didn't make it some time....well it really put things in perspective how she died because it was a housefire that claimed her and my dad's childhood things....so that was very tragic....I mean for anyone to die in a fire is tragic.....and this january will be the 13th year of that tragedy....but even if the Fire didn't happen...I don't think she would have been alive right now today
and then of course my Grandpa who died about a year ago this coming January was 91 and we stayed with im on with help from hospice but he had his mind until the very end....he only had an 8th grade education.....but ..he was much more smarter than your average 8th grade education that you get today.....now I have my Grandma who is my mom's mother and my last living Grandparent will be 85 in 2 weeks....so like I said.....a person's age how old they are or young is really a person to person thing....Not everyone will agree that 70 is old and some will it is ancient....
RIP Lou Albano
May we all remember The Mario Dance even in future generations of kids..

Actually Lou didn't play as Mario in the stupid Live Action movie where the only thing they got right in appearnce was one of those walking bombs...DaveWadding wrote:I don't get the Mario thing...I NEVER EVER saw that show (or the live action movie where Lou played Mario as well), but it seems like more people know him from something dumb like that versus being one of the legendary managers in wrestling history. Just weird to me.
Bob Hoskins played Mario in the live action theatrical one and John Leguizamo plaeyd as Luigi

In Girls Just Want to Have Fun too. The Goonie video was great though. Is it an extra on the DVD or coming Blu-Ray?littlefuzzy wrote:Who will save the princess now?
I just watched the first volume of the Super Mario Bros. Show a couple of months ago... I grew up watching that. I also remember him as Cyndi Lauper's "dad" in the video on the Goonies DVD.
BTW, I actually like the Super Mario Bros. Movie!
