Real life "Up"? 6 yr old floats away in balloon
A 6 year old kid was inside a 20 ft. balloon in Colorado, and it got loose and took off with him in it, got up to like 5,000 ft. in the air. But turns out, when the helium slowly drained and the balloon descended, that the kid wasn't in the balloon, so now the search is on for the little boy. His little brother claims to have seen him fall out of it as it was taking off, but he hasn't been found yet.
Here's a clip of it in action:

So I noticed Anne Frank was a trending topic on Twitter, and turns out it's because everyone is RTing someone who said: "Yo Balloon Boy, I'm a let you finish, but Anne Frank had the best attic hideout spot of all time."

So did everybody see the video with the "accidental launch" complete with an "accidental countdown"?
Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqdiSelIqYs
And the police still believe this isn't a hoax? Makes me really put a lot of faith in the investigative abilities of the Police.

There's not proof enough that it wasn't entirely a prank by one or two boys, the boy who hid and his brother who said the former went up in the balloon. I think this is one of those coincidences that can't look good for the parents. You know what is always assumed: guilty until proven not guilty and then, still guilty.

That's hot.

Guilty or innocent, the parents are about to be charged:

10 and according to the interview the family gave when they showed this video he is working the camera.
Everybody who knows the dad is saying he is a publicity whore. He certainly seemed like a real ass on the episode of Wife Swap he did (my local station showed the episode the day after the incident).
Anyone who says the boy who hid (because his dad was yelling at him, not because his brother told him to) is at fault is crazy.

I have a secret- kids can be pretty stupid. No kid goes into something like this hoping "Gee, I hope this gets national coverage". I mean, I think my sister did something like this once where she hid from my parents in the basement. When my mom was little, she hid from my grandparents in a clothing rack because she thought it was funny at the time. Granted, neither is as grandiose as "My baby might have flown away in a weird-ass balloon", but there you have it. It's just as much a media fault for this being blown into breaking-news coverage. And even if the kid was hiding in the attic to be spiteful, if the parents had any sort of involvement in wanting this to be a publicity stunt, that is completely disgusting.Prudence wrote:Selfish little boy, hiding in the attic the whole time and letting everyone worry for his life. In the interviews, he looks like he doesn't care at all for how concerned his parents were.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
