I was even thinking yesterday in the car, I bet the new Britney set will be too expensive for me. I'll wait until I find out what all the B-sides are, though, and see which ones I don't yet have before I decide not to get it. I mean, Christmas is coming up...

*edit*
Okay, so, thanks to Wikipedia, I'll make a rough list of what songs could be in that box set (not including other remixes that might be on the singles):

Baby One More Time
Autumn Goodbye
Sometimes
I'm So Curious
You Drive Me Crazy (The Stop Remix)
I'll Never Stop Loving You
Born to Make You Happy
From the Bottom of My Broken Heart
Thinkin' About You
Oops I Did It Again
Deep In My Heart
Lucky
Heart
Stronger
Walk on By
Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know
I'm A Slave 4 U
Intimidated
Overprotected [will they use the Darkchild remix?]
I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman
I Run Away
I Love Rock 'n' Roll
She'll Never Be Me [probably not, but it was on the Jordanian single...]
[Anticipating doesn't seem to be in the picture that jrboy posted]
Boys [Co-Ed Remix]
Me Against the Music
Toxic
Everytime
Don't Hang Up [maybe, but doubtful if they're using US singles...]
Outrageous
My Prerogative
Girl Next Door
Do Somethin'
Someday (I Will Understand)
[Chaotic, Mona Lisa, and Over to You Now were on the Japanese EP, but doubtful we'll get that in the set...?]
Gimme More
Piece of Me
[Kimme More...doubtful, but maybe]
Break the Ice
Everybody
Womanizer
Circus
If U Seek Amy
[maybe If U See Amy]
Radar
3

I have all the early B-sides except "I'm So Curious" and "Walk On By", which I just have in poor YouTube rips. I've never heard of "Girl Next Door". I think I only have "Over to You Now" as a YouTube rip. I've never heard of, but I don't really care about, "Kimme More". I have "Everybody" as a YouTube rip, and then I'll download 3...or just buy the regular CD version. I'm not paying $99 for 5songs, lol. I don't use iTunes, but I could see if they have any of those songs that I need. I have the Australian versions of Baby One More Time and In the Zone, and I downloaded the 3 Britney foreign B-sides from Amazon, and I downloaded "Someday (I Will Understand)". I think that it's a nice thing for Britney fans who don't already own these singles, but it's a very redundant set if you already own the majority of songs, since a few songs usually aren't worth $99...? But it does come with a DVD, but that's still pricey...

This is perfect, especially since I was about to try and buy all the singles off eBay. Now I don't have to! :D I already have all her B-Sides and such, but this boxset is too cool to pass up.

The packaging and all the artwork is really cool and all but... wouldn't it be kind of annoying to change the CD every time you wanna hear a different song? :?

Have you ever been a singles collector? I haven't, but I understand there are lots of people like that out there.

I guess the great thing about having all those singles, with all those different mixes, is that for only a few bucks more you can get a 10 pack of burnable CDs and compile your favorite tracks in that box into a CD series.

$100 for that box set? Hmmm. Reasonable, but then again, not so reasonable. I feel like it would have been cheaper if they put the contents of several CD Singles onto a disc, that way it would take up less space and would be less expensive. Still don't know if I should buy this. It would be pointless for me to buy the standard edition, as I have all the songs that appear on it. I also think it would have been more sensible for them to include early hits that weren't included on the U.S. edition of Greatest Hits: My Prerogative ("Don't Let Me Be the Last To Know, Born to Make You Happy....and so on), and also the singles from after the first greatest hits to now. I'm sort of on the fence about this release...

So glad Britney's back in the full swing of things after that rough patch she had.

3 is going to debut on Billboards Hot 100 in the Number 1 spot tomorrow. This makes it the first single in over three years to debut in the spot, it is also Britney's 3rd number one hit on the list.

I was very excited to see this!

Any news of a new album anytime soon? I personally wasn't interested in her before the media crisis. It's actually pushed her into doing better music than she did when she was America's sweetheart. She'll never be able to do a ballad again without a large dose of people laughing at her. That's fine, though. Club music really suits her. And she gives good lyrical sass. "Piece of Me" is one of her finest moments as a 'serious' artist. And of course, the twist in her "If U Seek Amy" video was almost satisfying. She'll never be that girl again. If she embraces it- she's got a shot at a post-Motherhood career.

Los Angeles Times wrote:"Unusual You," a ballad from Bloodshy & Avant, stands out. It goes for that shimmering waterfall mood first popularized by Janet Jackson rather than strict Madonna-style workouts.

I wouldn't call that a ballad. And if that counts, so does the stellar "Why Should I Be Sad(?)" on Blackout. An album everyone would agree is ballad-free.

It's a chill-out track. Too laidback to count as a ballad. Lacks big dramatic punches and diva vocal posturing.

Best ballad from "Circus" (IMO):

And what were you referencing, Laz, about her being laughed at for her ballads?

Not an actual incident, Amy. Just her Circus "comeback" where she (and a team of image managers sucking her humanity dry for the sake of any money they can squeeze out of her) tries to reverse the Blackout club standards back to her Crossroads and Toxic glory-days. She can't pull off a "mature woman" routine, no matter how bad her fans want it to be possible. Just look at all the trash she's surrounded with in the "If U Seek Amy" video. She's not leaving the slouch and slum days behind her.

Her attempt at a ballad is laughable. No other word for it. I like "Out from Under," I won't lie. For 2 reasons. 1- I have no stake in seeing Britney Spears' crawl around in any of her messy career states. So, the clear desperation in her Circus incarnation matters nothing to me when judging the tracks. 2- it's a good track, regardless of the artist it's produced for. But it'd be better without Britney. Not because of her now-dusty star quality or any of the baggage in her personal life. But because she doesn't have the voice to pull off any soul in even her highest notes. Or the humanity to mean those words. She's become too mechanical. Too artificial. It's become too obvious that she's only able to fool her fans and no one else into thinking she's "come back." She used to be a pop star. Now she won't even end up being relevant if she doesn't embrace the hard-knocks of fame or return some of the fire she's gotten, like she did very well on "Piece of Me."

Before she can prove she's a woman who's moved on, she needs to admit she was a mess. Not pretend it all never happened, and that she's new, fresh, and clean now. This new phase of her career is catchy, but awkward to dance to.

I can understand that...

I, personally, have always enjoyed Britney's ballads, and I think that they're still beautiful (the true ballads- "Unusual You", even though I like it (but not my favorite song on the album or anything), isn't a true ballad...it's some kind of hybrid). I think that eventually, when Britney has matured and gotten even better, she'll go on Oprah or write a book or something, and be public with her thoughts on her life from this time period. But I think that, as long as she's okay with focusing on her work, that that's what she should be doing. It isn't necessarily the public's business what happened to her, but in this society, everything is known. As long as she's truly happy and doing what makes her happy, that's what really matters. Even with all the club-banging songs, she still has some sweet ballads. Except on Breakout- that album as a whole took a long time for me to embrace, and I wonder if that had a part in it. Britney only has one ballad (well, the US version, anyway), but that's my favorite Britney song, so I was okay with just the one ballad (but the other songs that didn't make the US version are amazing, like "I Run Away" and "Before the Goodbye"; they have non-ballad elements to them, but inside they're ballads wanting to break free.... (?)).
