Thanks for bumping this old thread! Comes in handy to introduce myself (although I have already caused some heated discussion, I'm afraid).

I'm Mark, I'm 23 years old and I don't live in the United States. My screen name comes from the main character in the Disney tv series Gargoyles, which I have loved ever since I first watched an episode (somewhere in 1998, I guess).

My Disney story begins with a Dutch weekly magazine called 'Disneyland', which unfortunately doesn't exist anymore, but which was targeted at 4-7 year olds. Through this magazine, I got to know all the classic Disney characters. When I turned 7, I received a subscription to the weekly comic magazine 'Donald Duck' (which has existed since 1952 and still exists and is widely popular).

The first Disney film I saw in theaters was Duck Tales the movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. I guess I was about 5 years old. Over the years, I've seen few Classics in theater, but I remember my parents taking me to see Beauty and the Beast, A Goofy Movie, The Jungle Book (re-release), Hercules and Tarzan. Except for the latter, all of them in Dutch.

Of course, I would always watch the Disney animated tv series whenever they came on, like Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, and especially Rescue Rangers. We also had an uncle who copied all of his daughter's VHS's for us (illegal!!1!1) so we could watch a lot of Classics that were OOP for a long time or my parents would simply not buy otherwise. From this come my childhood favorites Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective and The Rescuers.

I visted Disneyland Paris twice, with my father, mother and little sister. I remember only one time, really, since it was freezing that time around and we had to wear three pair of socks to be anywhere near warm. Some attracions were closed due to heavy snowfall. I got to meet 'Mickey' and 'Donald' and I got to see parades with Aladdin, Roger Rabbit and the Gummi Bears!

In recent years, I discredited those childhood favorites in favor of the 1990's Classics, because that was a chorus I kept hearing over and over again from both fans and so-called 'experts'. Everybody kept insisting the 1990 Classics were the best ever made, and those 1970's and 1980's movies were crap. Lately, I have stopped following this parroting choir and started to realize how much quality there is in those underappreciated DACs.

I haven't seen any Disney Classic since Lilo & Stitch. They just don't appeal to me, but who knows? Maybe the parotting choir about how bad Brother Bear and Home on the Range etc. are, also isn't true. I don't watch any Disney tv shows anymore. They dropped the bal consistently since the late 1990's. The only notable exception I make is Kim Possible. Otherwise, I don't care for poorly animated and poorly scripted junk like Dave the Barbarian, Phineas and Ferb etc.

I'm now making sure I get every Classic on DVD. I have waited all those years for the 'special editions' to come out, so I didn't need to 'double dip'. This also means there are a lot of Disney movies which I still haven't seen in English! (Although I know how the songs sound from YouTube, of course.) And I must say, some films even are better in a Dutch dub.

Hey, my name is David, and i'm 17, from the UK :)

I joined this forum earlier this year, after browsing for info on Sleeping Beautys Platinum Edition

My earliest Disney experience was when I got Beauty and the Beast on video waaaaay back in 1993 I think. I loved that film, it was my favourite, infact it still is my favourite. I loved the characters, the songs, Belle, everything about it. I used to watch it, rewind the tape, watch it, rewind the tape, infact I wore it out :( But my Grandad got me another one, for his house because he thought that my tape would break his video player  When my original copy died, I aquired my Grandads copy (Which is now back at his house)

Next I got The Jungle Book and Peter Pan in 1993/1994, i'm not sure. I liked Peter Pan, but I wasn't too fond of The Jungle Book. The next two I got were Snow White and Aladdin for my 3rd birthday in 1994. I loved both of them, but not as much as Beauty and the Beast, which was still doing the rounds. At christmas I got Mary Poppins, which was another favourite of mine. Unfortunatly, at some point I broke my Peter Pan tape, as I didn't realise that it was in the video player, so it got crushed by my Beauty and the Beast: Sing Along Songs. In 1995, Pinocchio was released, which was my mothers favourite. She sent my dad out to get it for me, but it was clearly for her  I liked Pinocchio, but it was 5th behind Peter Pan. I then got The Lion King for my 4th birthday. It was my brothers favourite, which made me dislike it lol. I prefered it to Pinocchio though. On Christmas Day, Sleeping Beauty was on the TV, and my dad recorded it for me. I LOVED it, Maleficent gave me a few months worth of nightmares though! My dad taped over it, which was really awful of him, and I never saw it again until 2002 :( That christmas I got Alice In Wonderland and Dumbo aswell, Alice I liked, but I hated Dumbo!
My cousin had Bambi and The Little Mermaid, and she was a good 5 years older than me, so she didn't watch them, so I "borrowed" them (they're still on my shelf lol). I loved The Little Mermaid, but Bambi bored me, and it was another of my brothers favourties, so I was biased against it. In 1996, 101 Dalmatians came out, which was another of my mums favourties, I remember her giving me the money for it, and it was the first I bought on my own :D Christmas 1996 came with Pocahontas and Toy Story, I liked them both.

So as of 1996 my favourties (In order) were;

1. Beauty and the Beast
2. Aladdin
3. Snow White
4. Sleeping Beauty
5. Peter Pan
6. The Little Mermaid
7. Alice In Wonderland
8. Pinocchio
9. The Lion King
10. Pocahontas

But now, 12 years later, I have seen every one of the (hand drawn) animated classics, (bar the "Package Films") and my order is like this;

1. Beauty and the Beast
2. Sleeping Beauty
3. The Lion King
4. Aladdin
5. Snow White
6. The Little Mermaid
7. Cinderella
8. Alice In Wonderland
9. Peter Pan
10. Fantasia

Not changed much

The first I saw in the Cinema was The Little Mermaid, which was amazing!

I nearly have all of them on DVD, bar the Package films, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Beauty and the Beast :( Oliver and Company, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear and Home On The Range

I can't really pinpoint when my Disney love began, but I'd say it was probably January 1995. My parents took me, a kindergartener, to Walt Disney World at that time. It was the time of my life. A little frightening, but also exciting, to a little girl. In the ensuing years I began receiving Disney movies on VHS and watching them. I also returned to Disney World twice, in January 1999 as a fourth grader and January 2006 as a tenth grader. I'm now a rising college sophomore who is trying to get all the Disney Classics and some live action films on DVD. I still live at home with my parents and am in no hurry to move out on my own. My parents love me with all their heart and I love them. Family is very important to us.

Hey, I'm YakkoFan725, My real name is Colton, I was born in 1998, I was in the hospital for 3 years after that. After I was taken home permanently, I watched Disney VHSs for a while, until we made the switch to dvd. I can really only remember watching Sing Along Song Vhss. My first theatrical Disney movie was Lilo & Stitch. The first Mickey Mouse Short I remember watching is "The Whoopee Party" (House Of Mouse: Dennis The Duck.) I also watched Playhouse Disney. Today, I am a fan of The Lion King, Oliver & Company, Bolt, & others.

Whoa! I just randomly found this thread! Since I never really did, I'll go ahead and introduce myself...

HI! My name is Zack! (Hi Zack!) I am 14 years old (15 in 1 month and 9 days), and I've been a fan of Disney stuff since I came out of my mom's.... belly. I've been looking at Ultimate Disney since 2005, but only discovered the Forum in 2009. I discovered the website through a Song of the South bootleg site (I can't remember why I was there. Haha). When I discovered the Forums, my love for Disney grew a lot more.

My relationship with Disney is definitely a love/hate relationship. I love animated features and occasionally the live-action features, and I love the parks (I've been to WDW 8 times and Disneyland 3 times). I hate Disney Channel. A lot. It's a disgrace to Walt's vision, and it is cheesy, cliché, and STUPID! Once they make another reasonably entertaining series, contact me.

I have Disney tapes, LDs, DVDs, and BDs. I started collecting LDs in January as just a thing for fun with some extra Christmas money. I haven't actually gotten anymore LDs since March, but I'd like to start up again.

These forums are very informative, and the members are (mostly) nice! I love it here! It's a lot better than some of the other forums I've been on. :)

Hi Guys, just a quick note of introduction from me.

I'm Greg, from Australia. I have been a lurker of this site since about 2003, and tried to become a member about a year ago, and today, finally, was able to log on (thanks Luke).

My story is probably similar to most of yours. I grow up watching Uncle Walt on Australian television with the Wonderful World of Disney, and the various different incarnations of it.

I used to love watching this show on a Saturday or Sunday night, hoping that the show this week would be full of cartoons, even if it wasn't I was just fascinated with Walt, he really did feel like he was my Uncle!!!!

As I got older, I tended to hide my love for cartoons, and lost touch with Disney. My interest reignited when I was 17, and my sister and I went to see Oliver & Co at the cinema, mainly because of my love of Billy Joel, but ended up becoming a fan of Oliver, and luckly got to enjoy the renaissance of Disney as it happened.

Again I lost touch with Disney after the Lion King, due to a busy life, but reconnected with it after I moved into a place with someone who loved Disney, actually he worked as an animator for the Sydney studio, and showed me Tarzan, which totally blew my mind, and that then started my obsession with obtaining Disney Dvd's.

I have every Walt Disney Treasure, every Disney Classic (48?) and other bibs and bobs related to Disney.

I love Disney, Walt has brought joy to so many millions of people over the 100 or so years since his birth. It sucks to see what some of the execs have done over the years, but I like to think that Walt still lives on in the Disney compny. As long as we have people like Roy Jr, and John Lasseter, there is hope that Walts legacy will live on.

A few of my favourite Disney things.
1. Pluto
2. Tarzan
3. Emperors New Groove
4. Goofy
5. Lady and The Tramp
6. Walt Disney Treasures!!!!
7. Disney Dvds/Blu-ray (just to keep both camps happy)
And the list could go on!!!

This site is such a great tribute to the man we all love, and the magic that was and hopefully still is being made.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to being a part of the discussion!!!

Greg.

Well, like a lot of people I grew up on Disney. My parents would buy the films on video-cassette and I would watch them constantly. In addition to that, I subscribed to Disney Adventures and I just immersed myself in almost anything Disney.

Entering secondary school, my Disney love started to fade and I slowly stopped watching the films. Just before graduating high school, I re-watched Aladdin for the first time in many years just out of sheer boredom and suddenly, my love for Disney was brought back and started going back and re-watching my favourites as well as Disney flicks I didn't even see in my youth. And now, a full-fledged Disney fan, here I am.

Hi there! I'm a new member! Hello to everyone!
Well... really, I'm not all that new. My account's just been activated, but I've been lurking about these parts for almost a year now. And I can finally comment myself! Hooray!

:pink:

I know how it works, I know all the in-jokes (lace collars  ), and I know "who's who" on the boards... of course, I have been an outsider looking in, so I probably don't know as much as I think I do....
Scaps has funny comments
Wondy displays our favorite WTFs
Marky doesn't like restorations... or bright colors... or DVDs... But he does like grain!
Enigmawing is a great artist
Deco King loves Snow White AND THE SEVEN DWARVES
The_Iceflash still believes in DVD (hey, me too!)
And... yeah, well, if I left you out, it's nothing personal... just got sick of trying to describe people in one sentence
So, ummm.... Hi!

I'm just your average, 17-year-old, Disney-obsessed Aspie girl... well, okay, I guess that isn't too average then :P

And, if I'm slightly annoying, I apologize in advance.

I mostly love DACs, Pixar's films, Tim Burton's Disney collaborations, the live action films with animated scenes/characters, and... Disney Fairies  But I'm excited to see what Disney and ImageMovers will do together!

I grew up with almost any well-known Disney movie that did not involve a witch with magic powers. That narrowed it down to Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver and Company, 101 Dalmations, and Pinocchio.
I think we saw BatB when I was, like, 1 or 2. I also enjoyed Toy Story a lot, as well as no. 2 later on. Watched the VHS's a million times each, as well as Peanuts.
2001 comes along, and I'm massively interested in DVD, starting with Roger Rabbit, continuing with Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove, Monsters, inc, and the early Platinums.
2002=Kingdom Hearts
That's basically my story.

Wingapo, everyone!

My name's Ellen. I'm 24 years old and actually first joined this forum back around 2005, I've just always been more of a lurker than a talker. I've recently started speaking up once in a while, so I figured I'd re-introduce myself. :)

I can't even remember the beginning of my Disney story... my mom wrote in my baby book that "Ellen loves Mickey Mouse," which is still very true. My first movie in theatres was the 1987 reissue of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs> when I was 2... I have a hazy memory of the theatre, but not much else. My favorite videos as a kid were various compilations of Fab 5 shorts, a tape of 3 original Mickey Mouse Club episodes, and the Sing-Alongs, which I kept buying up through Topsy Turvy. I watched Disney Channel a lot growing up, too.

I'm a Disney history and trivia nerd who loves Disney movies, music, and the theme parks, among other things. I am a D23 member, attended the Expo last month, and thought it seemed like heaven on earth.
