I won't be getting this, since I got the Blu-Ray, but I wonder if Disney will do a rebate program for people who bought the DVD packaging of the Blu-Ray but thought they were getting this? As in you mail in your proofs of purchase from both and get $10 back or something? I don't think there will be a huge outcry from people, but I think a significant number of people will have thought this is the set they were buying, only to find that they don't get the second disc of bonus features.

That's a good question. According to other threads there were plenty who were confused about it. I just wonder if that was Disney's intention (having people mistake that for this) or if they assumed customers would know the difference.goofystitch wrote:I won't be getting this, since I got the Blu-Ray, but I wonder if Disney will do a rebate program for people who bought the DVD packaging of the Blu-Ray but thought they were getting this? I think they intentionally tried to trick people into buying the dvd packed blu ray. These people will be ticked off at having to double dip when the 2 disc dvd with playable special features shows up in November. An awful lot of folks don't do research and are clueless that a double dvd without blu ray is 6 weeks away.

Well I'm defintaly getting the 2 Disc DVD Version, and I've got it on pre-order. Though I'm thinking I might also purchase the Blu-Ray fro the future, haven't decided yet though. At first I was a little miffed about the Region 2 DVD cover being different to the Blu-Ray cover (the DVD has the huge CGI apple behind SW) however the more I see it, the more I warm to it. Can't wait for it to come out despite already owning it on DVD, I just love adding new Disney DVDs to my collection
I love The Little Mermaid and Ariel

My philosophy is to purchase movies in the now. If you buy it for the future you'll never be satisfied. That's like me saying I'm not buying the Wizard of oz 70th anniversary release because the 100th anniversary release may be better and so on.

Snow White: Diamond DVD
Well, I collect every version of my favorite films I can. When it comes to the Platinum or Diamonds, I make a special effort to get those unless I really don't care for them or here they are bad (Don't care much for Jungle Book, though I would get it if my mom loved it, and I have heard and seen for myself Peter Pan's awful treatment and restoration).
But even though I don't have a Blu-ray now...I KNOW I will get one someday, even if that day is in like 5 years.
It's your favorite movies seen in the highest possible quality right now, high-definition. That is the point.

I think the restoration wasn't the issue with the PE Peter Pan....it was the lack of bonus features you expect to be on a Platinum Edition was lacking...which probably is an understatement......yukitora wrote:Huh? I thought Peter Pan had a wonderful restoration... good enough so it wouldn't need to be restored again for the DE...
one example of it was they used disc 2 to have the entire movie played again with sing along words on the screens...rather than have the a vintage christmas something related to peter pan or anything like trailers tv spots etc etc....Peter Pan Platinum Edition was one of if not the worst treatments in the Platinum Line....and they rushed it because TinkerBell movie was supposed to come out that year but it didn't until the following year

Well, not to veer wildly off topic here, but there's a huge dispute about color alteration on the Peter Pan PE...such as the always-green moss in the mermaid lagoon being turned into a "pixie yellow" gold among other things. But yes, terrible, terrible "Platinum" edition as far as the bonus features go.disneyboy20022 wrote: I think the restoration wasn't the issue with the PE Peter Pan....it was the lack of bonus features you expect to be on a Platinum Edition was lacking...which probably is an understatement......

If you've ever studied the art of Mary Blaire, she is famous for using unusual (and bright) colors. She designed the color palette for Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan and the restored colors represent her style. In my opinion, it's safe to say that the colors on the Peter Pan Platinum Edition are the original artist's intentions.JustOneBite87 wrote:Well, not to veer wildly off topic here, but there's a huge dispute about color alteration on the Peter Pan PE...such as the always-green moss in the mermaid lagoon being turned into a "pixie yellow" gold among other things.
