8000 Reasons to Love Disney

Post by Disney Duster »

Yes, yes we do. At least I always did the same as you did when I was a kid. And I also looked forward to the pumpkin-to-coach if it was in there!

The funny thing about Cinderella is that its a film I pretty much re-discovered during its 2005 DVD release. I had seen the movie as a kid but it didn't leave the lasting impression it does on me now. I knew about the Fairy Godmother scene (a scene Disney used A LOT during its Christmas specials), and remembered the working song (A Mexican kids show once has a Gizmo (from Gremlins) puppet singing the working song and thought that was hilarious as a kid), but nothing else stood out for me.

Like I mentioned, it wasn't until the 2005 release that I finally saw it as the masterpiece it is. Maybe its because I saw it at a time where I was losing hope for me and my family, and the magical elements made it easier for me to forget for a few hours my issues, but the simple but emotionally deep story, the visuals, the characters and THE ANIMATED had me in from the minute I popped in disc 1 till I was ready to see disc 2.

Its such an impressive film. It may lack the ambition of Fantasia, the whimsy of Dumbo, and the horror of Pinnocchio. But it makes up for it in heart, soul, faith and stunning visuals.

It has let such an impression on me that many of my stories feature Cinderella elements, especially my romance story. Its such an easy story to identify with and I believe that, in a sense, its underrated to most modern Disney fans.

I think, in lots of ways it's underrated by Disney fans simply because it's a much more subtle production than most others from the period.

Not to mention that most of us younger Disney fans grew up with the 80s and 90s film, and in comparison the princesses in those films act and react more loudly than Cinderella, making her look "weak" (and thus why we have so many OH NOES DISNEY PRINCESS RUIN GIRLS THEY TURN INTO CINDERELLAS! arguments.

I already shared reasons why I love The Lion King in my Feature Animation Marathon thread, and I don't have the inclination to copy/paste right now.

I listed the Remember: Dreams Come True fireworks display because of the inclusion of lights and sound effects from the hub area during the Star Tours segment. The rest of the show is great, but that moment put it over the top for me.

The reasons why I like about Disney is the fireworks. I've seen fireworks in Poughkeepsie earlier tonight since I was at Waryas Park while we had snack, I've seen fireworks since I was about 100 ft. away from setting it off. I was a little bit scared, but I'm okay.

I love the fireworks show that close, because it was loud. I love the loud noises and stuff especially the finale.

I've seen only one "Hidden Mickey" shown where it had waterfall effect on them.

Fireworks sometimes had "Hidden Mickeys" on different locations outside of the Disney parks, but they are local ones. The finale are awesome.

This was one of the shortest fireworks show ever, but it lasted about 5 to 10 minutes to honor breast cancer awareness month as part of "Think Pink" which was held in Poughkeepsie.

I've never brought a camera in to film it, so I left it there just to watch only one show. That's was it.

I hope I can see some more fireworks by next year when 4th of July comes. You might still see some fireworks including some "Hidden Mickeys" around town.

I have a video from the fireworks show which was taken from July 4th during a fireworks show in Cantine Field in Saugerties, NY. Here is the whole show.

303. Zorro!!!

Disney's version will always be the Zorro to me! I love everything about it (Bernardo, the sergeant, corporal Reyes), although the first season was much stronger than the second.
