In my opinion I don't think that Harry Potter will save Disney.
Everyone already read the book and saw the movie so, it won't have super-sizes ratings. Also it airs on a Saturday night families now days go out to the theatre.
I predict that about 10 millions people will watch the broadcast of Harry Potter.
The movie is great not really good, but fun for the kids to watch. :D

There's supposed to be a 10 minute preview of Prisoner of Azkaban after the movie, so people might watch it.

True, but this airing has 2 MAJOR advantages: the version of Sorcerer's Stone on ABC will be an extended version, with deleted scenes implemented back into the body of the film. I dunno if this will just be the DVD's scenes, or more that wasn't on the DVD (and I'm 100% positive there was more). The other thing is there'll be an exclusive 10 minute sneak peek at the third film, Prisoner of Azkaban, and there'll be interviews with the three leads during each commercial break (separate from the 10 minute peek). So I think this will bring in considerable ratings, but I dunno if it'll save ABC's current ones. Also, the movie airs on a Sunday (Mother's Day), not a Saturday.

actually, i implored the idea of harry potter saving ABC as a joke. that's the only reason they mustve bought the rights

Besides I thought the network premiere was gonna be on NBC becuase they showed all the behind the scenes specials for Harry Potter in the past

One movie one night can not save a television company, and if the directors of ABC thinks that they should not be in charge of a company like that.

But then, I do not belive that they do think so.

They will get a lot of viewers and they will make much money from this, but it will not go into history. 8)

Disney must have paid Warner Bros. a fortune for this, seeing as they would make more money airing all of this on their own network, The WB. Anyways, if ABC plugs their own shows enough during the movie, this could work out well for them by getting more viewers to watch their shows. I love the Harry Potter films and will definatley be taping this airing.

As a huge Potter fan, I'll DEFINITELY be watching this, despite the fact that I've seen it well over 100 times (no joke) and own the DVD. DisneyKid's right, there's def. more bonus footage. The "sneak peek" at Chamber Of Secrets aired on The WB after Reba or something like that, if I recall correctly. This is a big change from that. Goofystitch raises an excellent point- if this brings in a lot of people who don't normally watch ABC (which it surely will), then they can plug tons of ads for new programming and whatnot. I'm a little surprised WB let this go to ABC, I agree that they must have been paid a fortune, indeed.

There's also the possibility that people will just turn it on at the very end for the Azkaban footage.
