Video Camera Help

Post by PeterPanfan »

My birthday is a month from tomorrow, and I really wanted to ask my parents for a video camera. I love making short films, and with my crappy digital camera, it will be impossible to go any further than, like, ten minutes.

Sooo, since a lot of the members at UD are (sorta) tech-savvy, I was hoping some of you can point me towards the right direction of a good quality video camera. Not a mediocre one, please, or one that will easily break, etc.

Thank you! :D

Video camera huh? Well first off, how good of quality are we talking, SD or HD? Do you want your recored films on a hard drive, DVD, miniDV, or flash memory? Flash has the best quality and battery life but not a very long record time. I've heard good things about Sony's HD cams, Canon is supposed to be good too, but both are very pricey. I'm not too familiar with the SD cameras but they are probably more in the birthday price-range, although its possible to get some decent off-brand HD cams, if HD is what you desire.

Here's a website to help you decide:
