Blegh, I'm glad that wasn't the real game. First ones fine the way it is, second one wasn't as good.

I'm hoping this game comes out as well, it looks like it could be quite interesting. I wonder if that whale is supposed to be Monstro?

 OMG yea.

As for my WISH that the game would be the princes rescuing the princes, that's like completely seperate from what Kingdom Hearts is really about at all, coming up with their own characters and such.

I just mean...I wish they would make that game. Complete with crossing into other worlds, even with keys. It would be interesting if the stepmother's key was used. Though if that was like the original game, all Disney characters, we wouldn't have to worry about it turning into Final Fantasy wannabe.

I wouldn't mind having a 100% Disney Character/World only game, with crossing into other worlds etc. BUT I would not want the Princesses to be the main focus of the story, something similar to their role in KH would be ok since they didn't have tons of screentime/active parts.

I have to agree with Kram, some of that concept art was rather scary looking, the zombie goofy sort of reminded me of the Simpsons episode where they go to Itchy and Scratchy's theme park and the robots go evil >_>

How about a Lego Disney game, along the lines of Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones, etc...

Actually, a Lego X-Men game would be awesome, as well!

WHAT? That little itty bit they got in the games is all you would want?

So, does that mean you really dislike any of the heroines in Disney films that just happen to have been labeled Disney Princesses?

C'mon, it would be fun to have them explore worlds, sing to animals, help animals, use animals to fight, fight a little themselves, whack people with brooms, ride horses, dance, run through obstacles to get away from princes before midnight...

Hmmm...Duster's Disney Princess game sounds familiar...

Image

Moving along, another videogame website has found details, this time regarding the story. It seems to be a revenge plot...

“The story CVG describes had better be the real story. “We’ve also been told that it’ll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey,” according to the site, “presumably because they’re jealous of all his fame and fortune.” Lending credence to this storyline is the fact that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit can be seen on the rocket in the above artwork.”

Ooooh... Oswald's pissed off and is out for blood!

Epic Mickey Game

Oswald, you can't be pissed when the reason you aren't like Mickey is you were traded to another company!!!

Oh, and pap, and Chernabog, the game could still focus on the princes, along with the princesses. That was the original plan anyway. Think of Beast and Aladdin.

Yeah I know what you meant Duster.

And Oswald is suffering from older brother syndrome. You know how some celebrities have older siblings that are very obscure and unknown? Like Sylvester Stallone's older brother Frank? Same deal with Oswald. He was the first born, he made Disney some money, but got screwed over by Universal, forcing Disney to create Mickey, a younger, cuter character.

Years later Oswald is left to rot in some Universal backlot while Mickey becomes a corporate mascot.

You would be pissed off too if that happened to you.

Another thing... I was looking at the concept art and realized something. They remind me of Sid's mutant toys from Toy Story!

The mismatched limbs, the cutesy macabre elements, missing eyes and facial features and mechanical claws and tentacles...

OH MY LORD I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

Sid Philips grew up and hated toys so much that he took over Disney World and made it his own private twisted paradise!

Yeah...no.

That little itty bit? Considering they were somewhat an important part I don't really consider it an itty bitty bit. There was some focus on them, but at the same time there was a lot of focus on everything/everyone else as well. Which is what I liked, the balance.

I suppose it might be better to continue discussion of this via PM or email though :)

On-Topic.

A revenge story? I actually rather like the idea somewhat, the first characters that spring to mind are Clarabelle, Horace and Peter Pig. As well as Clara Cluck...perhaps they work for/with Oswald if they were to be included that is.

EPIC MICKEY IS REAL PEOPLE!!!

The November issue of Game Informer will have tons of info on this new game for Wii. Their website will also have an interview with Warren Spector.

The cover has also been revealed, which has Mickey holding a paint brush, facing off against what could be the game's main antagonist. The back cover also features twisted versions of the Haunted Mansion and It's A Small World.

http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/ ... ealed.aspx

Game Informer also has an exclusive website dedicate to the game, and throughout the month of October they will be offering updates on the game, including videos and screens:

Well, color me freaking excited!

I have to admit, that cover art looks pretty freaking cool.

I do not want to give my hopes up on the game, however. There's still a ways to go until it comes out.

Epic Mickey

Okay Cherny, I get it, you like balance. Well the original fairy tales Disney animated had balance of action, monster, death, and happy fairy princessesness.

But something you will love Chernabog...

On the BACK of the EPIC COVER are the wraiths from NIGHT ON BALD MOUNTAIN!!!!!! Will they and other things from that section be in the game?!?!?!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure forgotten characters will include those from The Black Cauldron, since that's pretty much a forgotten one. Though I don't wanna get my hopes too high.

Let's see.... the cover looks pretty sweet, and it looks like we'll be seeing Small World in the game, along with the Haunted Mansion.

Pray that you don't disappoint us, Disney.

While Disney supervised the project (and given the team the rights for their franchises) they have given Spector and his team full freedom on this project. The team has experience making highly acclaimed games (Deus Ex for the PC being one of them) so the project is in good hands.

Hopefully those are the ones from Night on Bald Mt. Of course, given the fact Haunted Mansion is on the cover, it's also possible they are some of the ghosts from it?

Also, my initial impression on seeing the paintbrush in Mickey's hand/ the villain itself (if it is the villain) was: Phantom Blot. But that's only because it looked like there were paint/ink blots on the cover etc. I'm probably way off, but like I said, it was the first thing that came to my mind for it.

Eurogamer has the first details!

The story will be that of revenge. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit ( :!: ) is extremely jealous of Mickey's success and the world he had created. Oswald runs a world featuring forgotten and obscure Disney elements, such as characters, theme park rides and such. Oswald has now summoned The Phantom Blot to take over Mickey's world, hence why we see the classic attractions twisted and messed around with.

Mickey will be using tools related to cartoons, such as pencils, brushes, pain thinners, erasers and many things.

Mickey will also receive his first makeover in YEARS, giving him a very retro look.

...I KNEW OSWALD WAS BEHIND THIS! I KNEW THAT HE WAS JEALOUS OF MICKEY!

Maybe letting Oswald back in was a bad idea... :P

This whole plot seems like a bad idea....but I will reserve final judgement on the game until it is released....but still....I don't have high hopes for this.....it just sounds to bizzare.... though the concept of Kingdom hearts when first released sounded bizzare too but its done very well....

The plot does sound bizarre but the reason I am giving it a chance is because Warren Spector has proven himself to be a great videogame storyteller. Deus Ex, easily his best game, has been praised for creating a great narrative without sacrificing gameplay. The story was fantastic.

Now, Spector is a HUUUGE Disney fan. If you watch the Game Informer interview he has a huge collection of Disney stuff and you can clearly see in his eyes that he loves Disney to death.

So with his skills as a writer and his love for Disney I believe that he can churn out a story that is very Disney but very Spector as well.

I have faith in the project, and I think Disney does. Otherwise, they would not have let him create a twisted story based around two of Disney's most iconic characters.

Somehow, to me, the game seems kind of similar to American McGee's Alice. Anyone here know the game?

As for the rating on this, I'm assuming it might be a T rating. M? That would be totally barbaric of Disney.
