Australian Disney Treasures in May - Updated
Well the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) has passed 4 discs worth of Treasures on the 5th of February, I've just noticed.
WALT DISNEY TREASURES- MICKEY MOUSE IN LIVING COLOUR DISC 1 Film (DVD)
WALT DISNEY TREASURES- MICKEY MOUSE IN LIVING COLOUR DISC 2 Film (DVD)
SILLY SYMPHONIES (WALT DISNEY TREASURES VOL 1- DISC 2 BONUS) Film (DVD)
SILLY SYMPHONIES (WALT DISNEY TREASURES VOL 1- DISC 1 FEATURE) Film (DVD)
So it definitely looks like we are getting them. Last I heard was May, and May Disney dates are anounced on Monday (I think).
All very exciting...

woohoo ... they better not release these two and then decide not to release the rest ... which I can see them doing for titles which they think may not be popular over here
I would've gotten them from amazon if I was such a collector two years ago and I'd get the next wave from amazon if my OCD would let me ...
'but they have to match ... they have to match' *rocks back and forth*

I suspect what will happen in relation to the first part is they will probably release Chronological Donald and Mickey In Living Color 2 next, as is the case with the European releases. It kind of makes sense, because I don't think that the Disneyland or Crockett episodes would have the same appeal here that they do in the US. Further, Disney Australia are releasing the Davy Crockett movies, so I doubt we will get the tins now (but never say never. I cite the Fables v Treasures case in the UK/Europe, and here too I guess!).michelle wrote:woohoo ... they better not release these two and then decide not to release the rest ... which I can see them doing for titles which they think may not be popular over here![]()

As for matching, I don't know if they will. I doubt they will be "tinned". $AU28.95 is incredibly cheap for a 2-disc set (given the $90+ price tag on eBay), so I doubt it will be a "tin". Look at whatever it is the UK are getting and chances are that will be us.
This is the one from the Brazilian thread. I suspect we will get something similar.
Then again, at these prices, it may just even be a double plastic case... which would be a shame, but the content counts most I guess.Behind the Panels - Comic book news, reviews and podcast

Well, BVHE have posted the cover scans (small ones) on their site for the Treasures:

These look pretty much the same as the European ones (above).
However, what is worrying is that under Number of Disks it says 1 !
Does anyone else think that this could mean Australia is being ripped off once more? The retailers are listing these as 2-Disc sets, though.
Like always, we will find out when they are released.

Ok, my "word on the inside" tells me the Treasure sets WILL be 2-discs in Australia, and that the packaging will be a digipack (not tins it seems).
Will be receiving cover shots shortly...

Hmmmm... interesting to know that Loomis has a "deep throat" at Buena Vista....Loomis wrote:Ok, my "word on the inside" tells me the Treasure sets WILL be 2-discs in Australia, and that the packaging will be a digipack (not tins it seems).

Pity re no tins.... soooo typical.... I just wish I could get Goofy in a tin at a fairly reasonable price... sighh. Loomis - does your 'contact' know when Goofy might be released ??
my kids have been playing the new Looney Tunes sets constantly this Easter and I wanted to get the Disney equivalents to show them what the opposition looks like - but I was surprised to find that the cartoons I remember aren't readily available
sorry to come in late on this and excuse my ignorance but if there is such a demand for these sets - as the prices on Ebay seem to indicate - why do Disney only make a limited number? additional manufucturing costs must be minimal
so I'm pleased to see that a couple of collections will be available here soon but I think I will also preorder the upcoming R1 sets from Amazon as well just in case these never make it here.

Ok, that sentence was wrong in so many ways.
I get bits and pieces every now and then through the site I write for (www.dvdbits.com) via the editor via the deep throat. He or she wishes to remain anonymous.
I'm doubtful Goofy will be released in the near future here.
The next two in the UK are MMILC2 and Chron Donald, so I imagine we will have the same ones...

Once again, I believe it will be identical to the UK release (which I believe is uncensored, as are all the European prints).Class316 wrote:
I hope the Australian Silly Symphonies isn’t censored.

Cool, I'll wait for conformation and then get it because it's cheaper than the European releaseLoomis wrote:Once again, I believe it will be identical to the UK release (which I believe is uncensored, as are all the European prints).
Also, do you have any idea if the R2/4 release of MM ILC is uncensored?
