well what is everyone's favorite Disney movie and why? I still haven't seen them all but when i do i will post back here....i'm starting my huge collection of all Disney animated movies so i will post back soon....

Sleeping Beauty will always be my personal favorite. Many I know faun over the beautiful artwork and style of the film, and while I greatly love Earle's work for it, I think it's actually the story that draws me in, even though it's received great criticism. To me, it's one of the most epically styled films that weave all the fantasy elements of what a fairy tale should be - prince and princess, fairies, evil witch, dragons, far off castles and forests. I also adore the characters of Phillip and the fairies, and the beautiful music that George Bruns masterfully adapted from Tchaivosky's ballet score.

Ditto CB! All of those are my favorites as well, LOVE Return to Oz so much! Also, Aladdin would have to be my favorite early 90's Disney film.

Okay, let's see.... I love Bolt because of its adorable characters and its touching storyline, and The Little Mermaid because of its songs and I've had a crush on Ariel for as long as I can remember (I know Ariel's just an animated character, but that doesn't stop me from having a crush on her.
), Sleeping Beauty for its great story, music and villain, The Black Cauldron for its storyline and badass villain... I have a long LONG list. XD

This must be the five-thousandth topic on the subject of best Disney film. But I'll play.
Well, it kinda changes from time to time, but for now, I'll put Pinocchio, since it ticks so many boxes; it has great animation, stunning mis-en-scene and art direction, rich characters and an intriguing plot. Like all the great fairy-tales, it goes beyond being just a silly whimsical yarn to be told before bedtime by having a strong, clear message, which underneath its layers of fantasy and fanciness, really has the ability to speak to modern people in their daily lives. Of course, many of Disney's fairy-tales and fantasies do this. But Pinocchio probably does it best.
Other favourites of mine include Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Fantasia, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians and The Sword in the Stone.

The Little Mermaid. It’s hard to pinpoint one reason. Of course I grew up loving it. But I’ve also come to appreciate it in so many different ways, having a mix of Greek, Arthurian and Christian (and American) ideas. And then of course it’s satisfying if just watched superficially, thanks to some of the best music and voice acting from Disney. Ursula is, in my opinion, almost more central to this film’s success than Ariel, though they are clearly two sides of the same coin (naïve hopefulness v. bitter cynicism). It relates to me on a personal level, with the struggle with family and overcoming selfishness (but also wanting and deserving independence). And to realize that parents, despite their flaws, have the best intentions in mind (and maybe to be a better parent myself).
No other film—Disney or otherwise—could ever touch me as completely as this.

Like most of you, I have SO many favorites... but when it comes down to it.... The Little Mermaid.
I was obsessed with this one since it came out in theaters. So, there's a lot of memories attached to it. I love the music, especially Jodi Benson's voice. It's probably the first Disney movie I saw in theaters (though, I might have seen Oliver and Company, but I'm not sure).
Close second is Beauty and the Beast..... I think

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs , Pinocchio , Bambi , Fantasia , Sleeping Beauty , 101 Dalmatians , Cinderella , Dumbo , The Sword In The Stone , Lady and The Tramp they're all favourites of mine , but Snow White has to be my all time favourite , however , I love all of these movies for lots of different reasons!

My favorite Disney film? Hard to say. Either Mary Poppins or The Rescuers. Two very different films, but they both hold a special place in my heart.
Poppins has the best musical score of *any* Disney film, and such great performances by both Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke. Their chemistry is amazing, and hasn't yet been matched. I love the wonderful characters, and the whole innocent atmosphere of the film.
The Rescuers is a favorite because it has so much heart in it. It's a very "small" film, that lacks the grandeur and the lush animation of earlier and later films, but I think that's part of its charm. Just look how effective the opening titles are. Much more warmth in it than the CGI opening in the sequel. And it leaves room to focus on a very strong story and the best characters ever. They're so nuanced and real and my heart always goes out to Penny. I should also mention Shelby Flint's wonderful singing performance.

Personal Walt Disney favorites (differs from a cinema "best of" list - - these are the films I tend to revisit more frequently and find endlessly moving, inspiring, entertaining and reassuring):
Sleeping Beauty - - The magnificent production design, music, animation, story, characters... beautiful and inspiring art. The scope of Technirama and the Walt Disney Studio at the height of its artistic powers.
Pollyanna - - The characters, the writing, the subtext, the acting, the production design, the tone - - and Hayley. I cry every time.
Swiss Family Robinson -- It always transports me to that exotic paradise where anything is possible. It's an escape from daily cares to a tropical Panivision epic of great actors, animals, gags and scenery.
The Parent Trap! -- More great writing/directing from David Swift. Great characters, cast and clever situations, Sherman Bros songs and double the Hayley.
Others: Song of the South, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan... lots more.

My Top 5:
1.Bedknobs and Broomsticks: A movie I have always loved and always more than Mary Poppins. I've grown to love it even more over time thanks in large part to seeing the 139 min cut ("mango wussle" and all Scaps!) but the appeal of the eclectic musical adventure with a more straightforward plot and exciting climax than Mary Poppins combined with my love for the songs have made sure that I still and will continue to love it for the rest of my life.
2.Sleeping Beauty: Like Bekdnobs something I have always loved but a new perspective (or scope in picture) combined with a greater appreciation for the art have made me love it more than before. In addition to that I find the adventure, humour and score more appealing than other Disney movies and more so now than before despite my changes in tastes over time.
3.The Happiest Millionaire: What will seem like an odd choice for so many people is only half as strange as why this film is important to me. Many times you hear of people saying how a particular film had an impact on their life and though this may seem like a strange one to have an impact on me, keep in mind I am a little strange myself.
I had no intention for it to happen, all I wanted was to see an Edwardian era Disney musical, but it's surface value appeal was perhaps the best way for me to address tough issues with myself that I might have wanted to ignore had they not been presented this way. In short, I needed Mr. Biddle to yell at me to not act the way Angie was prior to meeting him (some lines regarding that character downright disturbed me how well they fitted my life), I needed to know that I couldn't forever live in "a special world", that I can't be afraid about the future, feel good about going of to school, be ashamed about who I am (whether I feel like valentine candy or boxing gloves in a figurative sense) or worry about how my 12 pet alligators might freeze to death (OK not so much that).
I may cringe at a line like "there are two things I believe in, God and the United sates" (don't much care for either), but the songs (which I had time to memorize prior to even finding a copy of the movie), production values, cast, it's all great to me. I don't give a hoot what others say it's one of Walt's best in it's 172 min form for sure. I doubt anyone one else on planet earth will have the same connection I do to this film but I guess that makes it all the more special to me.
4.The Great Mouse Detective: It's so perfect for what it should be in terms of pacing, humour character personalities if only more time and money were spent on the production, but even it's limitations couldn't ruin great character design and experimentation with CGI. It was also my introduction to Vincent Price and for that I am very grateful.
5.Pollyanna: Perfection. There's no way to top the writing, cast, production values, direction, it's just amazing. The ending is perhaps the most moving of any Disney movie as I fully believe in the change the towns people have gone through and have experienced the effect of Pollyanna's enduring appeal/wisdom/life perspective with them thorough the course of this great story that could have very easily been sickening in it's sappiness but through the outstanding approach to the way the story was told I buy it 100% and I'm glad I did.

I have to say of all the disney movies I saw my favorite would have to be ~Nightmare Before Christmas~ because it's really unique....nothing like it...it has imagination to it which is rare in disney films with always being prince's and princess's...I wish they came out with a 2nd one like a lot of Disney animation flims! Why didn't they!?
