Who sings this version of "A Whole New World"?

Post by pap64 »

So while watching random YouTube videos I stumbled onto this anime music video which features a version of A Whole New World I had never heard before...

Who sings it? Where was it featured?

Here's the video:

I don't have an official answer, but it sounds like it could be from Disney Dreams, an original stage show performed on the Disney Cruise Line. The show involves a young girl named Anne Marie who dreams of flying and meeting Princesses and kings. She wishes on a star and when she falls asleep, the Blue Fairy comes and grants her wish, but she has to find the strength inside to fly before the clock strikes 12. Anyway, Peter Pan is her guide throughout the show as they travel through different Disney stories to make her wish come true.

While I don't remember this song in the show, it sounds like it could be a demo recording of something that was cut in the workshop phase of production. The dialog that leads into the song sounds like the dialog between Peter Pan and Anne Marie. The fact that the music queue even sounds like Tinker Bell leads me to believe this even more. And the female sounds like she is intentionally singing like a kid would. If that is the case, the demo soundtrack would have been sent around to many executives and managers, so it's possible that one of them fell into the hands of someone who published it online.

But that is just my theory and not an official answer.

It's definitely a rare rendition of the song, but would like to know how it got started.

It sounds like it's from the Aladdin Jr (The stage version schools can perform) Demo CD.
