Hellboy Reveiw (Spoiler)

Hellboy Review by Alex Pantoja (MickeyMousePal)

I just saw Hellboy today at 4:00 pm and it was amazing. I really enjoyed it to the beginning to the end. The only thing that bothers me was it was slow at the beginning.
I also received a free poster, comic book and small action figure of Hellboy. Hellboy is based on the Dark Horse Comic by Mike Mignola.

Cast:
Ron Perlman as Hellboy
Selma Blair as Liz Sherman
Jeffrey Tambor as Dr. Tom Manning
Karel Roden as Grigori Rasputin
Rupert Evans as John Myers
John Hurt as Professor Bruttenholm
Corey Johnson as Agent Clay
Doug Jones as Abraham 'Abe' Sapien
Brian Caspe as Agent Lime
James Babson as Agent Moss
Biddy Hodson as Ilsa
David Hyde Pierce as Abe Sapien (voice)

The story takes place in Scotland in 1944 during World War II. When the U.S. soldiers were fighting off the Nazi one of the evilest villain Grigori Rasputin, a Nazis attempt to unleash a demon from hell upon their enemies. Rasputin opens a dimension and that is when a demon is unleashed (Hellboy as a child) comes to Earth. Professor Bruttenholm takes responsible to take care of Hellboy.

Then the movie goes to the present when the U.S. government created a secret organization to fight paranormal creatures – the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.). Hellboy is really 60 years old but, Hellboy is still mentally and physically a teenager. Hellboy falls in love with Liz Sherman (a fire starter) and Hellboy thinks John Myers loves her. Liz Sherman has no love feelings for John, but she loves Hellboy. The movie has lots of action from the start of the movie to the end.
This is a must see movie if you’re a fan from the comic book. If I were a movie critic I would give Hellboy 3 stars out of 4 and grade it a B+. This movie reminds me a lot like Spider-Man and Batman plot that combines. The bottom line if you want to see a movie this summer Hellboy is a must see.

How can it be a "must see" and only rate a B+ ?

Are you saying that there will not be any grade A movies out this summer?

MickeyMousePal,
Don't let the nitpicky comments that Rebel dishes out all of the time get to you. While he does make some good posts, most of the ones I have read are designed to make other people feel stupid. Here is a link of the time he did it to me.

I rate it a B+ because it could have been made better with a little more romanic. I'm saying it's the best summer movie so far. I have not watch Spider-Man 2, Shrek 2 or The Punisher.

I'm saying Hellboy is a great movie that happens to take place before summer.

My Spoiler Free Review

I thought "Hellboy" was very well done. When I walked into the theater, I knew the film would be dark (duh! It has hell in the title), but it was much darker than I had counted on. I was actually scared during some scenes because the villian is so evil. The film plays like the other recent comic turned big screen films, and even repeats the same quote used in the begining at the end, just like in both "X-Men" films. However, "Hellboy" is a lot different from these other films. It is definatley more dark, and the story sucks you in more. This film is definatley worth a viewing and if you get scared easily, I would advise you to wait for the dvd so you can watch it in a brighter room and with a volume that is not so loud. I liked the way the filmakers chose not to show everything, but to let you hear it instead. These scenes remind me alot of the now extinct Disney World attraction, "Allien Encounters," probably because the surround sound was used well. I actually raised my shoulders to protect my neck from getting bitten during one scene, just like I did on the ride. I would give "Hellboy" a 4 out of 5 stars. The story was fast and the characters where well played, but it didn't leave me feeling that I need to see it again, or that I wanted a sequel like I did with "X-Men" and "Spider Man."

I thought that it was made very well and there was no need for extra romance. There are some movies where it is not needed, like Lord of the Ringe where Arwen was just a nuicense

I saw this film yesterday and liked it quite a bit. I love how Hellboy always kept cool under pressure and always had time for cigars and one liners. The CGI effects were excellent and the action sequences exciting. It dragged a bit at certain points, but overall I had a good time watching it. A solid ***1/2 movie (out of 4).

Why are you attacking me? All I did was ask for clarification because I did not understand what he was saying. Am I the only person who was confused as to why someone would rate a movie as a B+ and then say it was a "must see" for the summer?

As for the thread about Teacher's Pet, if my posts made you feel stupid then do not blame me. All I did was disagree with you. I never flamed you. Nor do I believe that I unfairly "bashed" the film. The trailers were enough to offend me; there was no need for me to see the whole movie in order to know that I would not enjoy it.
