20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that it's going to be releasing The Mel Brooks Collection box set on Blu-ray on 12/15 (SRP $139.99). The 9-disc set will include BD versions of Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part 1, Robin Hood Men in Tights, Silent Movie, To Be or Not to Be and Twelve Chairs. Of these, only Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs and Young Frankenstein have been released on the format previously.

I'm surprised they could get the rights to Spaceballs, but not The Producers or Life Stinks, which are also in MGM's catalogue. And I see Fox is still conveniently ignoring Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

Will these be out separately? I already have "Spaceballs" on BD; but would especially love to see "To Be or Not to Be" in high-def. You haven't seen anything until you've seen Mel and Anne Bancroft sing "Sweet Georgia Brown" in Polish!

"It's good to be the king!" And it's great that Mel Brooks' films are finally hitting the HD format! Still, how/when did Fox/MGM get the rights to Blazing Saddles?

I think it is a deal with Warner, the DVD box set included Blazing Saddles as well. In fact, it sounds like it's the same box set, except Blu.
