The original question was which character (DD or MM) is the more popular in your country. One could legitimately argue that DD is a more interesting character than MM. However, it's probably a more or less "objective fact" that MM is more popular than DD in the US and in most countries. It's just as certain that DD is the more popular of the two here in Norway. Mickey is the universal symbol of Disney and therefore huge in a global perspective. After all - "It all started with a mouse"... But in the comics I'd say Donald probably has the edge over Mickey. In Norway "Disney" is first and foremost about comic books, and that is what makes Norwegians somewhat special in this context. Of all the Disney publications in Norway the weekly "Donald Duck & Co" remains the most important decade after decade. That magazine was introduced in 1948 and grew in numbers throughout the 50's when the Great Carl Barks was at the peak of his powers, so to speak.

it's not really a fair question to ask.
Donald for the most part tends be more popular but Mickey is the one Disney really pushes because he was the first and walt liked him.
The company is known as the mickey mouse company so he is the one they market and put on shirts and etc. etc. It creates almost a nostalgia factor even though most fans { and animators} would probably tell you that Mickey really isn't all the dynamic or overly entertaining of a character. That's one reason why other characters in history have starred in more cartoons and {Arguably} better cartoons.
Mickey was the first though {superstar} and that usually stands out in the minds of most people.
It's the same way over at Warner Bros.where Bugs Bunny was pushed though Daffy Duck was the one is probably the more entertaining character.

Donald is my favorite too. Probably because of the magazine that he has here in Holland: it is very popular and almost every kid in this country must have read it at a certain point. I know that I LOVED it at the time and I still like to read it now and then.
It makes you wonder why they didn't publish a Micky Mouse magazine in Holland: Micky is Disney's 'flagship' character so I am not shure why they chose Donald over him.
