With there being dual releases of movies on both formats, it's very easy for there to arguments/heated discussions when one side is put down by another and one side gets overly defensive when something is said by the other side about a release. For example, one should be able to go into the Snow White thread and talk about the upcoming releases of both without it turning into an argument over the formats. I'd like to go into there and discuss the upcoming 2-Disc DVD but somehow asking who's getting the 2-Disc DVD inadvertently turns into an argument. I'm not sure whether a separate threads are the way to go or whether there should be separate forums altogether for Disney DVD and Disney Blu-ray as maybe subforms of the Disney discussion or something.
Anyone agree with this and have any ideas how to solve the problem?
Separate areas to discuss Disney DVD and Disney BD?

I don't think separate forums are the answer. I would favor having one thread for all the debating, and the discussion threads for individual releases can include all formats.
If people cannot exercise self-control and leave debating and sniping out of threads where it does not belong, then that is a problem with the posters and/or moderation, not the forum design.

There shouldn't be a subforum for Blu-Ray and DVD, at all! It would only make matters worse. Say someone's in a flaming mood, pops by the BD/DVD side, and a fight ensues. That's very likely to happen. Most definitely.
I could see some sense in seperate threads for DVDs and BD editions of films simply so everything is relevant to the said release, thus easier to find. But you don't have to ask a mod to do that. For instance, say if in the near future they announced (for a ridiculous example) The Little Mermaid TV Show as coming soon, you yourself could make seperate topics for each of the editions.

Agreed. I've been trying to find information on the 2-Disc DVD version of Snow White coming out and in the current Snow White threads every release but that is being discussed/info posted. I'd like there to be a thread for the 2-Disc DVD release so I don't have to sort through everything but to find any kind of news/discussion about it. That goes for any release that is being released on both formats. I still don't much about the Snow White 2-Disc DVD but I can tell you inside and out about all the other releases.UmbrellaFish wrote:There shouldn't be a subforum for Blu-Ray and DVD, at all! Perhaps I'll consider making a thread for the DVD release of Snow White...

Agreed. It's hard though for posters to speak their mind about something they have a concern over (exclusive bonus features, etc) without it turning into a debate/argument. They should be able to talk about issues they have over an issue they have about a release without getting attacked for it.BrandonH wrote:I don't think separate forums are the answer.
