'Hannah Montana: the Movie' was the top-selling title on Blu-ray during the week ended August 23, according to data from Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. Disney's tween phenomenon sold 50 percent more BD units than the second title in the charts, Universal's horror remake 'The Last House on the Left'.
Looks like their Blu-ray marketing is starting to work !!

Where on the site is that coupon? I can't seem to find it  (and I may just consider re-buying it on Blu-ray for $15, that's a pretty good deal).

I just read that "The Hannah Montana Movie" was the #1 selling DVD & Blu Ray last week. Wahooo!!! I'm also sure this success has garnered some more fans. I'd like to know if Disney has any plans to release her second season on DVD. I also hope they keep to making it a single set instead of the ridiculous "season 2, volume 1 & volume 2" sets like other companies have done.

Disney has released season two already. It was released in two volumes. There were plans to rerelease it as a complete season set but I don't know what happened to it...

I don't care if they release it in volumes - just as long as we get the season.

Agreed. SPOILERS; I didn't understood the deal with having that tagline. Although Miley was caught between choosing one of the two worlds, she ultimately didn't got to choose and practically choosed both life's. It was a stupid ending.

If you're expecting the movie to be just as the show, then you'll get dissapointed. If you're going into the movie with an open mind, then you'll get pleased. I didn't expected the movie to be as the show, yet I got heavily dissapointed and the movie made my interest for Hannah fade.

But you may like it.

To be perfectly honest, while I don't care much for Hannah Montana that review was garbage.

I am a reviewer myself (I review videogames) and from my guidance I have learned that if you want to tell people if something is good or bad we have to put aside our own thoughts and biases and focus on the product itself.

The reviewer spent most of his review making fun of Hannah Montana, never explaining if the movie is good or if it appeals to its target audience. Being a wise guy doesn't tell ME, the consumer, if the movie is worth it.

And his joke about how the movie teaches to hide your true personality is really stretching it. The concept of the series is that Miley is an average girl that wishes to be a pop star but wants to remain a normal girl. Its the whole point of the series. The stories revolve around how Miley can handle school, family and love while still being Hannah.

Its not a message, its a plot concept, one that's been around for ages (if hiding your true self is a bad thing then Zorro, Batman, Super Man, the Phantom of the Opera, Spider-Man and many others have some explaining to do...).

Sorry for rambling, but I feel that as a review no matter what you are assigned to review you must be neutral because otherwise the review is more about you than it is about the product.
I'm actually a reviewer myself and I'm often annoyed over the lack constructivism of many current reviewers. But that aside, I think the review was proper. I thought "Hannah Montana The Movie" was mediocre in many ways and I honestly think the review was suitable. "Hannah Montana TM" mostly deserve mediocre and bad reviews (and this comes from a person who used to be obsessed with Hannah Montana).

pap64 wrote:I just rented the movie and I agree that it is MUCH better than the TV show. The plot is more fleshed, the consequences of having two personas are truly shown in a convincing and dramatic manner and the personalities are more grounded in reality than the TV.

I, however, have ONE huge issue with the movie, and it deals with the ending...

HOW in the hell do I expect to believe that the whole town of Tennessee will keep Miley's Hannah Montana personality a secret? Really, in an age in which every phone allows people to send pictures and text messages in an instant I doubt something like this could happen in real life. I know that this is a Disney film, but considering the whole film is about rock star privacy I seriously doubt no one took out their celphones and took a picture of wigless Hannah for the whole world to see

Other than this good movie!
That wasn't the only plot hole in this movie... Beware of spoilers, for those who haven't seen it.

In the series, Miley is sometimes a bad friend, especially to Lilly. In this film, Miley arrived at Lilly's birthday party as Hannah, but without purpose and she still tried to apologize to Lilly. But Lilly was the bad friend in this film and told the reporter about where Miley came from. But somehow, Lilly agreed to come to Tennessee as Hannah and when Miley and Lilly hugged each other, Miley told her: "I'll never let Hannah come between us again". But just a few seconds later, Miley is forcing Lilly to be Hannah and still bosses her around when she's with Travis. What a friendship, eh? Their friendship didn't developed at all in this movie.

When Miley sang "Hoedown Throwdown", no'one were recognizing her as Hannah. Even not the kids in the audience and neither Oswald, the reporter. At least when Miley has sung as herself in the show, she's been recognized as Hannah immediatly, but in this film no'one could recognize her as Hannah (to her fathers relief, considering that he seemed pretty worried when Miley sang "Hoedown Throwdown").

Another thing is the notion of how Travis and Lorelai could not recognize Miley as Hannah. Yes, this has been pointed out before, but seriously - its pretty obvious to see that it was Miley in a disguise. At least this notion makes more sense in the show, considering that Miley doesn't surround herself with the same people than she does with in school (although both Lilly and Oliver has their own disguises).

And what about Miley's "Sometimes I wish I could be Hannah all the time" comment? Had she forgot that in one of the episodes she was actually Hannah all the time? And that didn't turned out well? Besides, the theme of the movie about "take the time to smell the roses and be a better person" has already been used in a episode.

And another thing; The tagline was: "She's always had the best of both worlds, now she has to choose just one". The film was also leading up to that point, too, but we all know what happened in the end...

SPOILERS OVER

I understand that people like the movie, but I disagree that it's better than the tv show. In fact, the movie lacks much of the spunk and humor of the tv show and was dull and boring. The film could have been a effective way to end the series, but now that a fourth season is coming up, it just shows how wasted this movie was.

Uhh, no. When she sang "The Bone Dance," no one knew that she was Hannah (except for Lilly and Oliver, of course). And I think there may have been another instance or two. It is perplexing that people don't put two and two together, but it's a half-hour kids' comedy. Deal with it. :p

And it's true- Miley isn't always the best friend, and Lilly isn't always the best friend (Miley is usually worse than Lilly, though). But just because the movie didn't further Miley's and Lilly's relationship doesn't mean that it's a bad film by any means.

The movie has a lot of heart in it. It isn't as funny as the show is, but it has the time to kind of show us another side of Miley (well, more than one side of her, since we see her Hollywood-selfish life, even though we've seen that on the show, but more, we see how Tennessee changes her for the better).

About the "Bone Dance" episode - yeah, you've right. Sorry, my bad. But Miley still got almost revealed by Rico and in the "Song Sung Bad", she got almost revealed by Ashley. In those terms, the show is actually more logical than the movie (and I used to love the show as well).

Yeah, the movie had it moments, but personally, I thought it was pretty dissapointing - dull, boring and sappy. Sorry for saying.

No offence, but I never claimed that the mentioned issue made it a bad movie - I just said it was a plothole.

The bottom line is; In the series, Miley got recognized when she's sung as Hannah, but in the movie she didn't. That means that even the show is more logical than the movie, is'nt it?

And besides, this movie tries to convey the message of the importance of being true to yourself, yet Miley in the end is encouraged to stay as Hannah Montana. That's hypocricy, but I guess you didn't knew that? Now tell me, how heartfelt is that?
