People may find this interesting:

Don't click on that tempting link at the bottom though, unless you want first season spoilers!

But the next two episodes, "The Moment of Truth" and "The Labyrinth of Gedref", are really really good. "The Moment of Truth", in particular, brings Merlin back home and we get to know more about his pre-Camelot life.
I saw those tonight and I agree, they were excellent. I particularly liked the ending of the "Labyrinth of Gedref" episode and the revelation that the tragically and pointlessly slain unicorn came back to life. I was initially really disappointed in Arthur for his cavalier and insensitive attitude towards the murder of such an innocent and beautiful creature, and I'm glad when given the chance to redeem himself after this wrong, he made the most of that chance and learned something from it. I thought that's how it would end, so the unicorn coming back to life on top of that was a nice surprise! (yes, I'm an animal lover, and unicorns have always been a favorite)

Only two more episodes to go, next week. As much as I was looking forward to seeing the whole season, it's kind of disappointing there won't be any new ones to watch for awhile.

I know, I wish there were more episodes beyond the 13. Then again, I'd rather have 13 episodes that ascend from fairly-good to excellent rather than a US series where you get 22 episodes of continually-fluctuating quality.

On the plus side, Season Two begins in the UK later this year, so maybe NBC will start airing those in January or so.

Well, the first season has ended it's run in the US. I thought it went out with a bang and I really enjoyed the powerful last two episodes, especially the finale. I was sad that Gwen's father died, though, (in ep 12) which I guess made me subconsciously fear for the worse for both Merlin's mom and Gaius in the finale. The final episode in particular was very epic and kept me guessing until the end how it would resolve.

It's great to have fantasy back on television. I've always been a big fan of the various Robert Halmi fantasy-based miniseries, but I mean as far as an "official" weekly recurring series on US network tv, it's been years!

Thanks again to Escapay for all the promotion. ;) It lived up to it in my eyes, and look forward to Season 2 (hopefully NBC will air it again in the states).

Yay! I'm glad to hear you really enjoyed the series, especially the last episodes. It's rare to find a series that starts good (but not great) and builds up to a spectacular finale.

I was also afraid for Merlin's mother and Gaius, especially since I originally heard rumors that Richard Wilson (Gaius) was only signed on for the season. A part of me is upset that Nimueh is gone, but then again, in a series about magic, anything can happen!

:D

Glad to know my constant promotion was able to get at least one UDer as excited for the series as I was!

I'm still waiting to hear when Series 2 officially starts in the UK, hopefully the US airings won't be so far behind like the were for the first series.

Yeah, I saw this on TV the other day and was surprised. I thought this would be on in January, like last year's was.
