Snow White Blu Ray Thread Without Blu Ray Versus DVD Posts!!
I guess the 2-Disc DVD isn't considered part of the "Diamond" edition. Perhaps they are keeping the "Platinum" title for the 2-disc DVD, or else just releasing it as "2-Disc DVD" like it says on the artwork at amazon.

I think the DVD release isn't mentioned because it's farther off. Perhaps it will appear on the site later. I'm assuming that the only Blu-Ray exclusives will be the obvious ones, like Disney View, CineExplore, and BD-Live. I would expect everything else to be in the 2-disc DVD, the same way they did it with Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio.
And I'm overjoyed to see the website finally go up! YAY!

Yes, but wouldn't you rather be surrounded by Disney Psychos than any other?Mike Villain wrote:You're all a bunch of psychos!!
The combo pack in the DVD packaging is the DVD with two Blu-Rays. The Blu-Rays will have all the special features, and the DVD in that pack will contain the commentary, original mono track, new music video, Princess and the Frog sneak peek.DisneyJedi wrote:Umm...... okay. Both combo packs come with two BDs and one DVD. And their special features lists have me so confused! X(
The combo pack in the Blu-Ray packaging (and thus, all the other Blu-Ray versions) is the two Blu-Rays and the DVD. The Blu-Rays will have all the special features, and the DVD is (I presume) a barebones movie only disc.

Actually, with the exception of the packaging, the two releases are identical. Both contain the 2-disc Blu-Ray with all of the bonus features, and both contain what is essentially disc 1 of the 2-disc DVD set. Both DVDs will contain the commentary, music video, and Princess and the Frog sneak peak. One comes in a DVD case and the other in a Blu-Ray case, but the discs inside are identical.Escapay wrote: The combo pack in the DVD packaging is the DVD with two Blu-Rays. Ah, okay. I was confused because on the site, when you click DVD Combo, it lists special features for the DVD. But when you click Blu-Ray Combo, the listing for the DVD just says "Full-Length Film" without any mention of the commentary or other stuff.goofystitch wrote:Actually, with the exception of the packaging, the two releases are identical. To break it down, on October 6th the Diamond Edition is coming to blu-ray. The blu-ray comes with a copy of the film on DVD, which is disc 1 of the 2-disc DVD set, which doesn't come out until November 24th. To get consumers to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack, even though they don't own a Blu-Ray player, they have deceptively offered the film in different packaging. The first is the blu-ray case that is advertised as "Blu-Ray + DVD." The second is a DVD cast that is advertised as "DVD + Blu-Ray". However, the discs inside are the same for both cases. If you don't have a Blu-Ray player and just want the 2-disc DVD, that will be available 7 weeks later. The reason for the difference in release dates is that Disney hopes this will cause many consumers to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo either in anticipation of purchasing a Blu-Ray player in the future or because they are confused and think they are buying the DVD with a bonus Blu-Ray, but the same price for both sets should cause them to realize they are the same thing.enigmawing wrote:All these versions continue to confuse me . . .
To make it more confusing, there are several other options for purchasing the film. You can buy the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack in a DVD case with a set of 7 Dwarfs plushes or you can buy it packaged with a story book. You can also buy the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack in a Blu-Ray case in a deluxe box set, that comes with a book, pin set, and lithographs.
I hope that cleared things up for you.

But we're not arguing "Bah, Blu-Ray!" or "Nyah, DVD!"
However, if you want film talk...
Um...
I'm not particularly fond of the movie, though I'll likely double-dip on it for the new documentary and featurettes.
And you already know how I feel about those Dwarf plushes, Soups. They'd make a perfect belated-for-20-years Christmas gift.

Honestly! Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Whether you support blu-ray or DVD, you're ultimately going to talk about how you liked the documentary, how the games play, and how the music video sucked. That's usually what all the hype builds up to. That, and the one-man war against restorations, courtesy of Marky.

It depends on which picture you look at though. So far, they are all the prototype mock-up. Sometimes, even the dwarfs change. But in many of the pictures, the DVD case inside is black and housed in a slipcover.JDCB1986 wrote:Looks like they are going back to white cases for DVD.
If you look at the plush set, it's in a white case (with no slipcover !!!)
And excellent breakdown Escapay.

Thanks, goofystitch. So long as it isn't a nervous or mental one, it's fun making/having them.goofystitch wrote:And excellent breakdown Escapay.

The newly up Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs website looks just F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S !!
The people at the Walt Disney Company really have pulled all the stops out for this new website !! It knocks spots off the 2001 website as indeed it should as technology has improved so much!
There are a lot of downloads , but most people have broadband these days so it shouldn't take too long with a good system!!
All the three dimensional effects are just magnificent , and it's certainly been well worth the long wait!!

They are not the same ones. The book that comes in the Limited Edition Collector's Set is considerably bigger and is described as having concept art and production stills with text about the making-of the film. The book that comes with the Collector's Book Set says it has "original artwork" and is basically a storybook of the film. It sounds a lot like the little books that came with the box sets of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Cinderella.sotiris2006 wrote:Does anyone know whether the book in the Collector's Book Set and the book in the Limited Edition Collector's Set are the same with only different covers?
