As a Christian, I am personally very excited for this movie! It's just a fairy tale. Thank God Oprah is in it! I can see an episode this Fall just for this movie, like Hairspray and Dreamgirls a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the clip!!! It's very adorable. :-)

I know I'm really late on this issue, but I don't mind this movie being set in New Orleans in the 1920s. Fairy tales can happen at any time, just have to dust them off, streamline them a bit. I was watching Coming to America the other night, and that one is sort of a fairy tale, especially the ending, which I think will be similar to The Princess and the Frog, and that took place in the 1980s.

Anyone this day and age can meet a prince or princess and live happily ever after!

A majority of normal religious people are gonna look past the addition of voodoo to the movie and just enjoy it as it should be enjoyed...a fairytale. Its only the wacko, extreme groups that go stupid over this kind of stuff. Disney has nothing to fear.

Yeah, I don't see it being a real big issue and more importantly I am sure the "voodoo" doesn't play a huge role in the film. It will probably just be mentioned while referring to the heritage and culture of New Orleans.

Controversy sales.

I grew up in an extremely religious household, a conservative Baptist household. I am now agnostic. I do believe in higher power, but why would a deity who cares about the creation be the way that Christians and the Bible describe him to be?

That said, it never even occurred to me that churches are going to get squeamish about this film. I don't doubt that they will, now that I think about it, but it never even occurred to me and I grew up in an atmosphere that brainwashes many. So perhaps the churches won't put up as much of a stink as predicted.

About time we learned what Disney has planned to promote the film at the parks.

And is that Tiana real or a cosplay picture? I ask because the picture is pretty low quality.

Sorry for responding again, but I found my favorite article about the Disney Princes:
http://www.retrojunk.com/details_articles/2006/

If you haven't read it you must. Its very fun and hilarious!

Anyways, I decided to do one for Prince Naveen, being the newest prince and all. Note I haven't seen the film so I am basing this on the little pieces of info I know about Naveen and the story.

So here we go...

Image

Hello all! I am Prince Naveen...of Maldonia!

Yes, everyone knows me as the very charming prince that got turned into a frog! And its such an exciting story!

As some of you may know, I visited New Orleans to find someone to wed. But New Orleans is such an enchanting place, filled with music and magic that I completely forgot why I was there! So while I was taking the rich culture I met this tall, lanky man called Doctor Facilier, a man that promised me that my dreams would come true. So falling for his smooth talking ways I followed him into his shop and experienced a nightmarish moment that turned me into a frog!

Not only that, my assistant turned into ME! What was going on?! It was a horrible experience that left me lost and scared. But I had to maintain my charm throughout.

So during my plight to solve this predicament I met this beautiful woman looking at the stars on a balcony. I thought she was a princess, not just because she was wearing a crown but had a beauty that not even a true princess could match. So I became drawn to her. I hopped onto the balcony and gave her quite a fright!

Tiana completely rejected me, a first for me! Not even my charm could change the fact that I was a slimy, talking frog! Once she calmed down I convinced her to kiss me like in the fairy tale and promised that her dreams would come true.

But imagine my surprise and disillusion when not only did Tiana's kiss failed to make me human again she turned into a frog too! So much was Facilier's trickery that Tiana was dragged onto his evil scheme!

We had to escape and we ended up at the dangerous but amazing bayou where we met so many great characters that helped us survive our froggy ordeals. Best of all, we learned about a voodoo priest named Mama Odie who could help us break the spell!

During this we escaped crazed frog hunters, befriended Louis a fantastic jazz musician and Ray the love sick firefly. But the best thing that happened was that I finally began to see Tiana for who she was; an amazing woman.

We both learn from each other. I teach Tiana that life must be enjoyed, to always have a fun loving attitude, while Tiana teaches me that life also consists of responsibilities, something I was ignoring despite my title was Prince of Maldonia.

Just as we began to accept our fates as frogs something magical happened; as we declared our love to each other we began to change back into our human selves! It was such a wonderful thing. That day I gained two very important things; my life and Tiana's love.

How is Tiana as a wife? I am very happy to say that despite her new title as Princess of Maldonia she is still the hardworking dreamer I first met that one night in the balcony. I helped her make her dream of owning a restaurant come true and she couldn't be happier! She is always working hard in the kitchen and making her customers very happy. The people, they love her. Her mother Eudora is also wonderful. Its too bad that I couldn't meet her father James, who was the one that inspired Tiana to dream big.

Our relationship has never been stronger. We are always having fun, never leaving behind our duties as prince and princess.

Our dream now is to have a couple of tadpoles running around, if you know what I mean ;) .

-------------------------------------------------

Not very good, but its the best I could do despite my limited knowledge and not diving into spoilers.

I wonder if that's a common thing in Brazil, to include the expected DVD release date on the theatrical poster?

that's odd that it has the DVD release even mentioned. Are you sure that's a official poster? I like it's simplicity, and I don't remember seeing as nice a picture of the mansion behind her.

Was anyone else expecting "Big Daddy" Labeouf to start yodelling at some point during that clip?

or am I the only thinking he resembled Alameda Slim?

Seriously though, the animation looks exactly like all the other recent handdrawn films before they got shut down. The flair, fluidity and comic timing remind me of the animation from Tarzan, New Groove, Atlantis and Home on the Range.

.
Yes, it does.

I wish it had the more realistic look of the classics before that era.

Little Charlotte looks exactly like baby Hercules and the father looks like the villain in Home on The Range.

Overall it looks a bit too "Cinderella 3-ish" and "Little Mermaid 3" for me,
The digital look almost doesn't look like hand drawn animation anymore. But I'll wait for the whole film first before I make up my mind.

Since when have you expected animation to look realistic? That's a pitfall for any filmmaker.

If it resembles some of the latter 2D films, I'm happy with that. Not everything done digitally looks bad, and films never (looks-wise) resembled their respective concept pieces.

And thanks, pap, for the article! It was a hoot! I wish they included Edward, though.

Maybe "realistic" isn't the right word.
I just find the styles of Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, much more attractive (although this are all different styles), than the styles of Hercules and Home on the Range.

And looking at the overall popularity of these films, it's interesting that they went for a look exactly like these last 2 films again.

Everything I learn about this movie makes it seem all the more funny and cute! I normally shy away from these sort of threads, threads for unreleased movies, because of spoilers. Oops.

Not sure if this has been posted... SPOILER ALERT!!! There are spoilers in the characters section that I didn't know, so be careful! It's not a video so don't get too excited!

This is the first time I see Ray with a larva. Could he be a father in the movie?
