My First Post-A Question

Post by Marianne81 »

First of all, lte me say that I think it is wonderful that I found a forum where I can talk about Disney movies. It's nice to know that there are many other Disney enthusiasts out there :)

I have a question I hope someone can answer, or at least attempt to. I saw that "The Moon-Spinners" is out on DVD, but that it's not widescreen and has no special features. This movie being a big favorite of mine, I was very disappointed. Should I hold out for the possiblity of a better version being released with at a least a couple special features(I know they could find at least a trailer), or just go ahead and get this one. I have the tape, but I really want to start buliding up a DVD collection of my top favorite movies. Ok I'll stop my ramblings now, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

T.T.F.N. :)

Welcome, Marianne.

I would be shocked if that film got any more of a DVD treatment than it already has. Some titles just don't have the mass appeal to justify a re-release and all that would be required of it.

So...purchase what you've found and enjoy it again and again. Although I completely empathize with you on the FS vs WS issue. I cringe when I cannot get a film that is Widscreen.

Enjoy the forums!

Welcome to the site, Marianne! Hopefully, you'll stick around. :)

indianajp is pretty much right on the money. If you can find it cheap, it's probably worth upgrading from a VHS. If not, wait for a price drop (which is sure to come in time) and then get it even cheaper.

It's a shame that they treat so many of their live action films like that. One of my favorites is "Cheetah" which is also featureless and a port of the pan & scan laserdisc.

I *hate* rewarding the studio by giving them money for screwing up one of my favorite movies...but if it's to be had for super-cheap, and the alternative is not getting to see or enjoy the movie again until the next format, it's a decision to make.

I'm sure the Moon Spinners DVD offers little over the VHS - chapter stops and the fact that it's a non-degrading format, primarily. So, if it's something you watch a lot, I'd think buying the crappy DVD is better than relying on a worn-out videocassette.

Thank you for the welcomes and for the advice. I'll probably keep my eye out for a price drop because I do like to watch it a lot. It is still better than a VHS.

Welcome to the forum!!! :goofy: :donald: :minnie:

I saw Moon-Spinners for 14.44 at Walmart. I don't know if/when the price will drop.

Thanks poco, $14.44 is not too bad of a price. I'll check next time I'm at walmart.

And thanks MickeyMouseBoy, it's nice to hear from someone firsthand that at least it's a good transfer to DVD.
