Hook, Hades, Jafar/Shere Khan, Prince John, Scar

Post by houseofvillains »

Does anyone notice a resemblance between these villains? I notice many.

Captain Hook and Shere Khan are two suave villains, who are powerful, dreadful, and menacing. They both make fearsome presences. They both have a hateful motive. They both want to murder young ones (a flying boy and a jungle boy). They both have fears, Captain Hook has chronomentrophobia (fear of clocks) and Shere Khan has pyrophobia (fear of fire); both expose them as being wimpy, which ruin their threatening reputations. The All Movie Guide lists "Peter Pan II: Return to Neverland" and "the Jungle Book 2" as similar movies.

Jafar and Scar are two villains, who are sly, sinister, and maniacal; others recognize them by these traits. They both have an ambitious motive. They both have suave voices, maniacal smiles, and long and unlikable faces. Others accuse them both with attempted murder and assault and battery. They both want to overthrow the kings, and murder the going-to-be kings. They both executed their villainous plots by being close to and trusted by the King (the Sultan and Mufasa). Andreas Deja animated both of them.

Hades and Prince John are two lords. They both have a sibling rivalry motive. Others accuse them both with treason. They both have servants. They both want to overthrow their siblings, and murder the opponents, of who will someday take over the heir of the rivaled siblings. They are both infamous and comical, though feared by others, but others also recognize them by their childish aspects – Hades for being hotheaded and Prince John for being a thumb sucker.

I also notice a strong resemblance between Captain Hook and Prince John. Captain Hook and Prince John are two lords. They both have a sidekick. They both are elegant, vain, comical yet sophisticated, and wimpy yet sinisterly intentioned. Frank Thomas also animated both.

Does anyone agree, or has opinions on these? Please share your comments, thanks.

I think one thing that clearly ties them together is an aristocratic nature. Either wanting it or being it. If you haven't mentioned that, yet, that might be your missing link.

That is true, I forgot about the aristocratic aspects, but let us take a vote. Who strongly resembles who the most? I will post my ideas (from most to least).

Captain Hook: Shere Khan; Prince John Scar
Hades: Prince John; Scar; Shere Khan
Jafar: Scar; Prince John; Shere Khan

What do you think? This has to intrigue someone!

Is no one else curious by this? I think it is very interesting. Does anyone but me have any input whatsoever? Please share if you do.
