Walt Disney Treasures:Number of tins produced

Hi everyone, havent posted in a while. I noticed on this site they said that the Donald duck treasure set is 250,000. I think thats the largest number of sets ever produced so far. I have three of the four sets on preorder since last September ( yes that long) and I look forward to getting them next month. Is it possible that they will sell out fast, since people have waited so long for these sets? Also I noticed that the Mickey Mouse Color 2 is only producing 165,000 sets. I hope its enough. I didnt order Tomorrowland, since Im only interested in the animated sets. I dont have any of the earlier waves. I just wanted to see what some of you thought about it.

i was thinking along the same lines.out of the 165,000 how many do amazon and other on line retailers get? is it possible not everyone who pre orders will receive their discs? i'm going to best buy on release day prepared to kick someone ass or rip tins from peoples arms.

I've had all four sets ordered since early August (within a day or two of when Amazon first offered them for pre-order), so I'm reasonably sure that I'll get mine. However, I am tempted to go to WalMart the first sale day and buy an extra set, if Amazon hasn't shown that they are processing my order for shipment. I can always give any extras as gifts later.

I GUESS that there will be enough stock for initial sales, but there won't be as many units available for later purchases. But it is hard to judge just how much demand there is out there....yes, "hardcore" Disney fans like this message board know about these Treasures sets and will grab them as soon as possible...but the general public and "borderline" Disney fans probably still don't realize they are available for sale May 18th.

Hey wait a minute my grandparents have a place in Tucson and that coincides with my annual vacation.

Please do not kick the fatass in the tyedye and/or hawaiian shirt.

hehe. noted. watch out for crazy dude with curly hair streamlining towards the collectible dvd section at the eastside best buy at 10:00 am on release day

i don't really imagine any violence in the works but if i see some kid with a mickey mouse shirt on giving me the funny eye out front while i wait for the doors to open, watch out!

Just checked my daytimer - I dont leave on vacation until May 20. I will be safe from wizzer. However, I want video of wizzer knocking over the kid in the MM tshirt.

I am torn about how to proceed myself. Everyone is ordering online but I have heard horror story about the online houses filling the orders in the past and have never had a problem getting them retail in the past.

Thats the same time I ordered mine. Are yours still giving you an estimated ship date of early December? Mine are, I wonder if I should call them to make sure there is no errors with the computer system that would delay shipping.

I would call and find out about that. Your comments made me go and check my Amazon order because I know for the longest time, it kept the estimated delivery date in December. But after checking it, the delivery estimate is dated 5/8 - 5/11, even though Amazon says that they will be released 5/18

Yes, Amazon is still giving my ship dates back in early December 2003. I did not worry about it because Amazon had done this before on items I ordered but were delayed and I still got them.

But I guess it wouldn't hurt to make sure that December ship date isn't going to delay the May shipment.

Amazon originally had the release dates as 5/4, so that is probably why your estimated delivery date is 5/8-5/11. It would probably be a good idea to check to just make sure the estimated delivery date isn't going to mess up the shipment.

I e-mailed Amazon on the Estimated Shipping and Delivery dates - and they adjusted my dates from December 2003 to May 2004. My Estimated Shipping date is now May 19, with Estimated Delivery date as May 21-22.

I too have my set on pre-order at Amazon - my shipping date also is listed as December 2003 - just emailed them to ask them to check and update - don't want to miss out on this set. I have all the others and fear one or more titles in this wave may sell out.

The trouble is, how sure can you be that the store is resiving what it ordered?

I know online stores that never recived the first Mickey Mouse box when that was released.

I'll be at my local Wal-Mart on release day...no worries about pre-orders and stuff. I don't think they will sell out on the first day, but if they do, then I have the Disney Store as a backup.

Those were the old numbers, before they decided to print larger runs. As you may recall, that wasn't nearly enough to fill the pending orders - the official explanation for the changed release date. So far, I haven't seen any figures on how many they actually did print.

That's not how I read it. Originally the wave III Treasures were posted on the Disney website as being 125,000 copies each - the revised numbers only appeared a few weeks before the intended released date.

I always assumed that the original plan for 125,000 was revised late in the day for the new figures, and when the crunch came, Disney found out they couldn't manufacture the required number of tins in time.

If this is the case, then I am quite worried - these sets have been selling well on Amazon.Com for an additional six months! I do fear that even with the revised numbers, demand will still vastly outstrip supply.

I ordered 2 of the sets (mickey mouse & chronological donald) from Amazon. I ordered the front lines from DVDempire. I emailed Amazon yesterday, and asked them why they didnt change the shipping date on my order since it still says est shipping date dec. 2003. They said they are aware that the date has been changed to May 18h 2004, and that it will be shipped when it is available. So I guess I have nothing to worry about, I guess they dont want to change the estimate shipping date for everybody. I usually never have problems with Amazon, so Im not worried.
