Whew! Got back from a nice trip to Comic-Con last night. It was insane.

First, I didn't get into the Disney 3D / Tim Buton panel. I got in line about 8:45am as I thought that would be plenty of time to guarentee a spot in the 6,500 person hall for the 11am event. "Twilight" was two panels after the Disney one, so all the fans lined up super early to guarentee there spot, and therefore took seats from people that actually wanted to see the Disney panel. I was extremely upset. This was the panel I was most excited about.

I didn't get to see most of the other Disney panels, as they conflicted with other things that I really wanted to see. My reasoning was that I originally bought my ticket for Comic Con to see TV shows and stuff that I wanted to see, and I'm going to the D23 expo in September. But I have now realized that was a mistake. Most of the TV panels were just Q&A's with the actors and they didn't show anything cool. And 80% of the questions that fans asked were really dumb. Sort of like an "I'm just asking a question to ask a question." Which was lame. I skipped the Disney Animation panel to see Big Bang Theory (which was one of my favorite shows) and I was incredibly disappointed.

Sunday is when I had time to see some Disney stuff. I went to the Phineas and Ferb panel, and it was really great. I think I was one of like 3 people in their early 20's (it was mostly Moms and their kids) but I enjoyed it just the same. I didn't know that the creators wrote for Rocko's Modern Life, which is a show I used to watch as a kid. They showed very funny clips and let us know what was coming up. And I have to say, for the Q&A the kid's questions were a million times better than the adult questions at the other panels.

I was also excited about "The Art of Pixar's Cars." However, it was NOT what I thought. I thought they would talk about the animation process and how things were created, then talk about the upcoming comic. The room was PACKED with people at the beginning. It turned out to be a marketing seminar on upcoming toys from Mattel.. and it wasn't even interesting. I didn't come to this to hear about marketing strategies. We left about 20 minutes into the panel (as had about 60% of the audience). Very disappointed in that.

Thanks for the report Arielle and I'm glad you had a fun weekend even if some of the panels were disappointing. Thanks for the reports from the Sunday panels. I couldn't find any info on them. The Art of Cars one sounds a like a huge letdown. The Phineas and Ferb one though sounds like fun. I heard that panel last year was a surprise hit and so this one was recommended by a few sites I read this year.

By far my favorite thing from what I've seen on the internet (besides the Tron traier) were the displays for Condorman, The Black Hole, Tron and The Rocketeer.

Nice to see Disney remembers that they made these films.

This was my first con, and we (me and my boyfriend) were only able to attend yesterday. We felt a little lost and kinda just wandered around after locating the booths we'd planned on seeing. We didn't really check out anything Disney-related unless you count Chris Sanders, but I've gotta say it was very cool to meet him in person. I got him to sign a print-out of a drawing of his I'd digitally colored (I can't wait to find a nice frame for it!), and gave him another copy as a gift. He seemed to like it.

Yeah, this is what pissed me off about Thursday morning and probably the most about Comicon overall as I'd wanted to see those Disney panels too. But oh no, the Twilight numbskulls were all out in force... sorry those who like it, but I think (to quote Stephen Fry) it's arse gravy of the highest order. The organisers should have kept the Twilight panel as the first thing on Thursday like as had originally been scheduled...

Bring It On (Rock the Mouse)
This is a video from the Comic-Con Masquerade. It is the performance that won Best Presentation. The quality isn't the greatest, but it's still fun. It features a large group of people dressed as Disney heroes, princesses, and villains with the battle between good and evil re-imagined as a cheerleader contest.

I caught the Masquerade playback to see some of these... I loved the Princess Bride skit, Skeletor "Womaniser" song, the Muppets sketch and the It's A Small World parody
