I told Aurora the other day at WDW she looked better in blue. She said she'd tell Merryweather that.

Pink or Blue?

Disneykid wrote:You know, if you time it JUST RIGHT, her dress changes blue right when the book closes. If you follow the rhythm of how often her dress changes, you'll get to blue right when the book covers her up, meaning she's forever in blue. :D Yeah, I analyze things too much...
Well, the dress is blue every frame up until the book is completely covering them. I say it either went on changing pink to blue ever after, happily, or it really did stay pink. The point is you didn't see the dress start turning purpley, to blue, before the book closed again, Disney wouldn't have bothered doing what was probably an expensive process for that last change you don't see, but point is she stays pink.

I prefer her dress purpley blue on a visual level, and rose pink on a symbolic level. Since the colors of the home video releases are always changing, I don't know what the right shades are, but the pink in the latest release looks good and to symbolize her newly awakened life, love, and happiness, it's good.

You mean like how she's all blue when she can't be with her forest friend but pink and rosy when she finds her love?

I still like blue better though. It just goes well with her.

Right. The dress is pink when Flora makes it. It turns blue just before she finds out she can't be with her beloved. Think of her walking sadly in her blue dress and cape, crying. Think of how the blue represents cold, quiet night in her cursed, sad sleep. Then think of how her dress turns pink when she can be with with her beloved and dances happily with him in the clouds.

But of course blue looks better on her. Though I do wonder if a really red pink would look even better.

I was browsing through this thread trying to find what I said, but realized I never posted here. :o

I think my favorite is blue, though Aurora definitely looks good in both. For some reason, she just comes off more mature in blue.

Now that I think about it (scanning some earlier posts on the subject), I wonder why we've never seen a red princess dress? Red is my favorite color, so I wonder why I've never noticed that. The closest we've come is Belle's beautiful Christmas dress (yes, from a sequel). Now, we've got green covered thanks to Tiana--can't wait for red, orange and purple now. I wouldn't put any color off, because I never thought yellow or green could make [really] beautiful dresses until B&tB and TP&TF. Hmm.

Probably because red is the color of passion/lust and Disney wants to keep their heroines as virginal as possible. Only Esmeralda had a red dress, and, coincidentally or not, it fit with one of the themes of Hunchback. I guess that's why Disney often opts for pink dresses, pink is a softer version of red. And it's not just red... have you ever seen a Disney heroine in black? Darker colors (like dark blue, violet, deep purple, dark grey) seem destined for villains only.

Back on topic: they both look good, but it's blue for me.

It's blue for me.
when I was younger I loved pink, I had a pink bed room, pink coat, pink quilt cover. But It was blue for me back then too.

It is nice in pink, I just think it look nicer in blue.

Blue all the way baby! It's not that I don't like pink, I just don't happen to like the shade that Flora uses in the film. If it looked more like the shade of pink that's used in the merchandising, promotion etc. it'd look much better.
