I work at Walmart as a cashier at the moment but I'm hoping that will change soon.

I just got hired by a marketing company to be an intern. It doesn't pay, but they could hire me full time when I graudate.

Just a tip for some of you getting into the working world. try not to keep quiting jobs a lot of jobs (dont mean fast food or retail) frown upon a lot of job changes. they would rather see some stability

That said, there are a great many employers who feel as though people who stay in a job too long are lacking in ambition. 6-18 months before tackling a new and improved position is often advisable for a career path.

I agree with you in some cases Loomis,If you area computer programmer and are going for better programming jobs that is a plus, but if you are going from jobs like Taco Bell, to Wal-Mart,to Subway, to Target, To Mcdonalds,then no they frown upon that

Yeah, that company closed July of 2007, and I've been jobless ever since. Damn economy.

Or maybe damn resume...? Ugh. I haven't bothered looking lately because I'm fed up with it all.

I guess I do, kinda-sorta. I do coloring for a comics website, but only get work on individual pics or issues as needed, so it isn't entirely steady. It's been a great way to gain experience though and has been a lot of fun. I've been meaning to get back into freelance commission work as well.

I've held a variety of jobs over the years, from retail to fast food to airbrushing to restaurant management to teaching to daycare . . . and right back to retail again, lol. After the insanity of my last job and some full-time babysitting it's wonderful to be able to slow down and do something I enjoy once again.

well i used to be a bank teller, it payed really good considering im in college. It's how i afforded my food, movies, rent, car note/insurance, cell phone and other things. As of 6 months ago i was pink-slipped

mostly because people stopped withdrawing their money and the bank needed to get rid of some folks. it's been really hard on me ever since, i have yet to find a job and now i am desperate

it really sucks having to depend on my parents again, considering i was basically on my own ever since i was 18.

gahhhhh. life.

I am a phone monkey for a magazine distribution company. People call us for magazine subscriptions. We use to deal with Disney Adventures till it ceased publication

But we have all sorts of magazines...everything from Mad Magazine to Penthouse, lol. I've gotten prank calls and obscene calls too. Had a man calling while watching a porn movie. I didn't hear it right at first, not until he said, "What's your name again....Crystal....Mmmm Crystal..." I hung up on him immediatly, I felt so violated.

I'm technically still a student, but because of my degree (French and German), I've had to do a year-abroad. I studied for a semester in Strasbourg for the French side, but decided to do an internship at a translation agency in Munich for the German side. I'm not really enjoying working in an office, so am currently pondering greatly on what to do next. I've got another year of uni, after which I plan on taking part in a programme run by the British Council to be a language assistant (somebody who gives smaller scale and more practical English language lessons in addition to the main reading/writing/speaking English lessons). I'd probably do that in either France or Germany (I could also chose Switzerland, Belgium, Austria or even Quebec or China). Of course, that system hasn't got the highest wage (around €750...though in fairness, I would only work around 12 hours a week, so it's only fair

), and since rent in Europe would cut that in half at least, I'd probably do something to raise money on the side like babysitting or teaching private lessons for around €10 or so an hour.

You should definitely come to Quebec!!!

To answer the question, I do have a job. I work in a hospital as a resident doctor. Even though I'm sometimes not sleeping for more than 24 hours in a row, I LOVE my job! Can't wait to be an attending though... and have my own residents to work for me!

Right now I currently work as a Supervisor at a Coffee shop in town. I was working part time at a CD store, but when I got the promotion I gave up that job. I'm not making the equivalent of both pay checks, but the hours are longer and stress is higher so I decided to give the part-time gig up.

I'm starting a new job in August. I will be teaching elementary school. More specifically, I will be teaching special education. My students have severe and profound disabilities. I am very excited to finally have a job. I know this one will be challenging but also immensely rewarding.
