[Blu-ray UK] Pixar Luxo Lamp Collection

Post by 2099net »

What is it? Er. Nobody knows at the moment, but a creditable guess is that its all Pixar's Blu-ray films to date (Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Shorts Vol 1) plus a replica of the Pixar mascot, Luxo.

Hopefully a similar set should show up in the US - after all, you actually have A Bug's Life released (but to date no Monsters Inc, although our Monsters Inc is released this coming Monday).

If this is indeed what the set contains and if it does come out in the U.S., then I hope they offer a mail in offer to buy the Luxo Lamp. I have all of the Pixar Blu-Rays and I'm not going to buy them again, but I would love to have the lamp.

Its probably more likely than not a collection of all their films as off the top of my head i carn't think what would cost £122.99 ($202) except a large collection of films.

I would personally buy it as although i did buy WALL-E when i first got my blu-ray it would be great to have all the films to date in one big box set, its how i tend to buy my films.

It may not be all the films, just the ones that have been released / announced for release. If so that would contain Bugs Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, Ratatouille, Cars, Wall-E and Pixar Shorts.

With a price of £122.99 and the averge blu-ray being around 15-20quid that sounds quite reasonable... expecially if it comes with some sought of luxo lamp.

This has just been posted onto HMV.
It looks like it contains about 6-7 blu-rays inside which could be

Cars, Ratatouille, WALL•E, A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo
and the Pixar Shorts - Vol 1. So basically all of their blu-ray releases from their first release (Cars) all the way to their latest release (Finding Nemo) scheduled for this year.

If this is indeed the box set its probably worth waiting until the end of the year to get all these blu-rays. Im an avid fan but only have Wall-E on Blu-ray at the moment and as it comes with the free luxo as well (an added bonus) its probably worth it. It is to say reccomended retail price of this product is £130 and amazon have it for £94.69.

Not sure I can dustify that double-dip, as I already own the Shorts, Ratatouille, Wall-E and Cars on Blu-ray.

Still, an excellent idea, and one that will no doubt be bigger and triple dipped when all the Pixar films are released on Blu-ray.

Well, this appears to be cancelled.

Amazon.co.uk no longer has a listing, and HMV now lists it as "deleted".

Presumably this is down to the legal action from Luxo.

Great pics, thanks for posting Navelludd.

I was quite excited about this but having had a good look it's clear that my kids would never leave it alone so finding a suitable place for it would be a problem and also there doesn't appear to be much room for future discs.
