are you sure these are going to be stripped down one-disc editions? the idea is starting to scare me. i called the 1_800 number and they had no idea what i was talking about. i sincerely hope that disney doesn't pull this one on us. especially since the previous special editions were very well done.

damn them. getting our hopes up for two discs and then ripping it all apart for one disc! of course i'll still buy it, but i won't like it. anyone else share my concern on this one?

The people on the 1-800 number don't know anything about anything, beyond what's on the Disney Videos website. Occassionally, they'll surprise us with some tentative upcoming release date, but in general, they're only good at taking information, not giving. They don't even work directly for Disney.

Even worse is the supposed email help line at disneys official home video site.- if ever you want an adventure down nowhere land that leads into a brick wall try emailing them!! I did some months ago with enquiries about the vault disney line (one would think pretty straight forward)----the response not only proved to me that they didnt know what vault disney collection was!!!! they tried to passify me with an australian phone no for buena vista :? (because thay saw I had an au in my email.) I had to explain to them that australia doesnt even carry the vault disney line and why would they palm me off to the australian division when my enquirey was quite blatantly about U.S. releases!!??.... This back and forth went on for weeks and for a while I kept all the transcripts to show as an example of customer service ineptitude!! But I persisted my enquirey until I got AN ACTUAL ANSWER TO MY QUESTION and do you know what it was..........'we dont know' In my persistance I had to educate them about the who, what whys and whens...
Of course I dont bother with emailing them any more after that experience- but if ever you do keep it up until you get an half decent reply, of course it is not the fault of the representative, but a service is a service after all.

It is starting to seem as though the extra features on a Disney DVD are something of a great trade secret. :P

In almost every region, we don't get a comprehensive list of features on catalog titles until they are upon us.

While the SEs coming out don't interest me at the moment, they were things I was meaning to check out in the near future. It would be a shame to see them as stripped down versions, as I know that a huge number of people on this forum are really looking forward to them.

I also share Disneyfella's concerns. I think they have done fantastic jobs on the recent SEs (both Vault and Vault-That-Are-Not-Vault), and it would be a shame to lose such a great formula.

To me, it is pointless on releasing something on DVD unless you are going to use that medium to an advantage. Otherwise, it is just the same as your VHS copy but on a shiny format.

Just posted the specs for these on the front page. Even if they are one disc releases, they seem pretty packed. Hopefully, not to the point of screwing up video/audio quality, though.

Reading the specs, it seems pretty obvious that these were 2-disc Special Editions (aka Vault Disney) that Disney droped at the last minute! Shameful!! Yeah, they are packed discs, but they could be even more packed if they were CE sets!
