Disney Treasures (Mickey Mouse, Waves 1 & 2)

Post by Bowie Fett »

Hello to all! I'm new here.

:)

Will Disney re-release "Mickey Mouse in Black and White" and "Mickey Mouse
in Living Color (Volume 1)" in the near future . . . maybe on DVD/Blu-Ray?

A re-release of Walt Disney Treasures DVDs has been discussed on these boards a lot before, but Disney has made it evident that the Treasures sets are a one time only limited edition set.

That being said, it is inconceivable to believe that all of the Mickey Mouse shorts will never be released again. It can almost be guaranteed that they will be brought out someday, but it won't be part of the Treasures set. Whether it is on DVD or Blu-Ray or a future medium that hasn't been invented yet, you will have another chance to own all of the Mickey Mouse shorts. However, there is no guarantee that this will happen anytime soon. It has been almost 10 years since Mickey Mouse in Living Color volume 1 was released. I'm speculating that a complete set won't be available for at least another 10 years or so. If it is important for you to own them, I advise you to track them down now. Mickey Mouse in Living Color volume 2 and Mickey Mouse in Black & White volume 2 are both available from many online retailers, including disneystore.com and Disney Movie Club, but you will have to pay above retail value to get the first two volumes of both the color and black & white shorts.

I had to pay $45 for Volume 1 of Black and White on Amazon. Talk about overpriced, but that was the cheapest.

This isnt really in this topic, but I thought I would ask it anyway. What Disney Treasures are the hardest to find? I know they are all pretty scarce, but, which ones are the hardest ones to locate.

I found a person in an antique shop that has like 6 or 7 of these, and I only have enough money for one, so I was wondering which of the treasures should be first priority. Unfortunately, I do not remember which ones he is selling.

EDIT: I just went to her little corner of the market, and bought some of her vault things. I bought.....

Lady and the Tramp: Platinum Edition- $35
Bambi: Platinum Edition- $25
Lion King 2: Simba's Pride Special Edition- $25
Walt Disney Treasures:On the Front Lines - $30

All the DVD's were sealed, and had their slipcovers and stickers. The treasure came in the tin and was sealed( included lithograph, certificate etc...). Were these good deals?

Also, she had 4 more tins available, Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol. 2, Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol.2, The Mickey Mouse Club, and The Complete Pluto. All for $30 dollars each and were in their tins and factory sealed. Good deals? ( Also, someone had a Fantasia selling for $30 bucks. Worth it, or just wait for Platinum?)

As of right now, I'd say the last Disneyland WDT and the "Dr. Syn: The Scarecrow" are the hardest to find, at a some what decent price anyway!

I just bought The Chronological Donald Vol. 2 for $33 at CDPlus today. It was kind of instinctive. Did I overpay for it? It came with Tin/Inserts and was new.

P.S. I live in Canada

$33 is about suggested retail price. I'd be comfortable with it.
