Looks like jrboy won't be hearing or saying "There's nothing to watch" anytime soon, provided he and his company are in the presence of his vast collection.

You can say that again! Holy crap, jrboy! I guess a congrats is in order for you, considering that is the most DVD and Blu-Ray purchases in one transaction I have EVER seen!

Anyway,

I haven't bought anything for awhile, and I've been meaning to get this, too:

$9.85 - Used (with $2.98 for shipping)

I don't normally like getting anything used; if I can purchase it new, I would much rather do that. But considering that if I bought it from Amazon.com (I got it from their marketplace) it would be $20 more dollars, so I am happy about that. I just ordered it so it should be here in the next week or two. Can't wait!

Well in my defense the money was willingly loaned to me, and I knew that the $20 would be easier to pay off than the $100+ for NYC.

Um, NYC is worth the $80 extra. Raymond isn't worth the $20 to begin with. :P

I FINALLY bought a BluRay. I held off till I felt it was worth buying it for the price. Walmart had Magnavox Blurays for $128. I got the warrenty for $10. I bought Transformers on BluRay for $30. And then the next day I picked up Inkheart. I haven't watched Inkheart yet though. But my only complaint was the unexpected extra costs.

I see the box on the player was clear, I needed to buy the HDMI cord. Okay, fine. $30 cable *grumbles* By the time I arrive home, the extra $30 was a distant memory, I got myself a BluRay and I am happy!!! I open the box, remove my DVD player from the top of my HD big screen tv and put it away and put the shiny new BluRay on top. Open up the $30 cable, again, forgetting now it was $30 extra and plug it into the back of the BluRay. I then reach down to plug it to my TV....Hmmm....Where is that connection? No...that's not it....not it either...where could it be? Suddenly I realize, it won't connect. I hook up the BluRay with the normal colored wires, Transformers looks no different from my normal DVD. *sighs*

I got out of work early the next day and go to Target just because, and I figured I'd ask one of the workers there about it. "Oh, you just need an adapter"....A $20 adapter. So I bought the lousy adapter.

My TV now has a working BluRay. And yes, it looks great. All I need now is surround sound and my living room is complete. We even got a new sectional living room set, very very comfy with easy chairs and such. Even places for drinks. The living room is perfect for movie watching.

In the end, the whole cable thing was comical, but I was annoyed.

So much for a $128 BluRay Player right????? LOL Nearly $200 later...over $200 if you count the DVDs I bought to make it worth it.

I explained to my parents and daughter how buying DVDs are gonna work now....if its just some comedy movie...get the cheaper DVD, if its got explosions, nature, or lots of CGI, its BluRay :P

I know I mentioned this much earlier in one of these threads, but, I like how some of the BluRays come with the extra DVD. It really makes the extra price WORTH it. Because now I know we can enjoy the movie in our own bedrooms or on the go in the portable DVD player. Especially the family movies.

The sad part, Siren, is that...

You could have bought an HDMI cable for 3 bucks

Yeah, I felt the same way when I first bought an HD DVD player. Costs add up, which is why it always helps to do the research. Just make sure your tv's properly calibrated, 'cause it'll help in the long run.

Yeah....because we all know the quality of the Blu Ray release of Meet Dave starring eddie murphy or Paul Blart Mall cop looks completly Stunning in 1080p HD and can't compare to Transformers in 1080P HD not to mention Pink Panther 2....I mean think of all the special effects....in those movies.....the sweat drops on Steve Martin....the dimples on Paul Blart or the shiny teeth of Eddie Murphy....:P

oh and btw how's this for logic on what goes on DVD and Blu ray and what is only released on regular dvd

Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red is due on DVD on 9/29 (SRP $19.98) from Warner Home Video. Extras will include commentary with Parker, writer David J. Schow and producer Robert Meyer Burnett, and the It's Not Real Until You Shoot It: The Making of The Hills Run Red featurette. No word on a Blu-ray edition - wish there was one. (Hint, hint Warner!)

But here's a puzzler... Warner's direct-to-video Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins IS being released on both DVD and Blu-ray on 9/22. Ah well.

OH yes because we need to see Scooby's Fleas in high def that you may not notice on DVD not to mention the Mystery machine.... :P

Btw My Recent purchase was from amazon.com...Roadside Romeo...aside from the differ looking dogs it has more special features than if Disney released it and it does have the Walt Disney Studios Logo on the box....but I think they let Yash Raj Films do the distributing of the DVD and its sold by amazon not a marketplace seller...and I think its a region free dvd....from the looks of it...

I wish I still had my Big Lots near me. Those are incredible prices for those box sets.

Anyways, I still have got no word on when my MST3K Volume 8 will ship. It seems both Amazon and DeepDiscount are "Temporarily Out of Stock" or "Backordered" of this title. It makes me wonder if it's discontinued.
