McVities Yog Fruit Digestives

These are new in the UK and absolutely delicious. They have already become my top biscuit based snack!
Digestives with forest fruit puree pieces and yoghurt flavoured topping.
The sheer fruitness of the puree combined with the crunchiness of the digestive base it a delight, topped off with the slightly sour yoghurt topping. Wonderful.

Yummy. I'd give these tasty snacks 4.5 lip-smacks out of 5!

Well I've just sampled some new Pringles infusions.

Crisps that aren't made out of potatoes!

Of course in the UK we call them crisps, but in the US you call them something different, i think it's "soccer".

Anyway they are made out of rice!

not potatoes, rice!

It's madness!!!!

Netty doesn't like them, but I do!

Cranberry and Orange Jaffa Cakes

You can't improve on a Jaffa Cake can you? I mean, it's pure buscuit/cake based perfection. I don't believe in God, but the existance of the Jaffa Cake is - probably - the only rational argument I'll ever hear for his existance. Jaffa Cakes are pure, snack based, heaven.

They have tried to change the Jaffa Cake - often to failure. Sure, Lemon and Lime, Berry Blast and Apple and Blackcurrent Jaffa Cakes are good. But they're not close to the perfection of the original and best Orange Jaffa Cake.

Until now. Now, everything we know about the world we live in is wrong. Now, my sanity has been shaken in a manner not unsimilar to that found in the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game when you see one of the unimaginable Great Old Ones from the dawn of time. Now, I am still on a drug-like high from tasting something better than an Orange Jaffa Cake.

A Cranberry and Orange Jaffa Cake. The tart sharpness of the Cranberry mixes perfectly with the citrus orange. I have tasted something beyond perfection. I have tasted something supernatural. If I die this second, I will die content.

I cannot rate this snack apart from "infinity" lip-smacks out of 5, but even this cannot begin to impress upon you, dear reader, the extent of mouth-pleasing pleasure I experienced.

Campbell's Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

Image

It's not a snack, and it's probably not new. I bought it yesterday when I was buying soup (I like soup a lot!). And I'm eating it now.

It's similar to the other cream soups and chowders, in the sense that it's made with milk and it's creamy. It has red bell peppers in it (the ingredients list says that carrots are in here as well, but I'm not really finding them)...wait, I think I found a speck of carrot. And I didn't read the ingredients all the way down, but I didn't see red bell pepper listed (but it just may be listed at the bottom), so carrots are supposed to be more plentiful than the peppers...

Anyway, it's such a good soup! I recommend it!

Well, I've recently just been living in France and I decided to sample a meat eaten quite a bit round here...

Image

Yep, I've had a little bit of lapin. And it actually tasted quite nice. :p Having said that, I've not had horse-meat, pig's ear, pig's heart, pig's trotter or calf's head, which I have also recently found in a supermarket over here, malheureusement. I have had quite a bit of sirop, however. It's kinda like a cordial. The best type of affordable sirop that I've found comes from Teisseire (their strawberry, lemon and orange ones are le hyper-delicieux), though I saw some in a fancy over-priced kitchen shop which looks pretty yummy. This is what it looks like:

Wow. You sure do move about, don't you Joe? :P Remember when we were both visiting Berlin during the same week (two years ago) and didn't know it?

lol...I do (both things). What's more amazing is that I am actually then going to be going to Germany come February and then back to the UK. That's the kind of life that doing French and German brings about... ;)

Also, today I found pig's brain in the supermarket (the supermarket in the city-centre mall where I am - Strasbourg - has all sorts of pointless offal for sale), which were quite small, actually. That's probably why they expect their houses of hay to be wolf-proof... :p

Well, I havn't had them recently but i've tasted Alpaca (llama), cuy (guinea pig), and dog. I had llama and guinea pig while i was in south america and dog while i was in china (i was tricked into it).

Alpaca- probably some of the best meat i've ever had in my entire life. It tates a lot like steak but isn't as rough to eat. It's just goodness, and if you are ever in Peru you HAVE to try it.

Cuy- Maybe it was the way i had it prepared but i didn't like it all that much. It seemed to have a pretty vinegar like taste. the meat was a bit bitter in my opinion.

Dog- I was really caught off guard and after someone told me what it was after my first bite it really took a lot for me to have a second. In the end though, it really doesn't taste bad. It was a lot like roast beef in appearance, but it tasted a lot sweeter. Almost as it someone had put sugar in it.

As for a food i've had more recently....

Blueberry Muffin Frosted Mini-wheats - I really like them. They have a sweet blueberry taste that isn't too overwhelming. I'm not too sure why muffin is slapped on the title at all. It could be because it is such a lighter blueberry taste, but that's how i would like it anyway. I would say that if you are a frosted mini-wheats fan you should give these a try. I would also suggest the strawberry flavor!

I'm eating a Hot Pocket panini. Deli-Style Ham & Swiss, to be exact. Boy, is it yummy. The bread is herby and delicious, and the filling is really yummy, with the ham and the melted cheese. Yum!

Here's more info:
http://www.hotpockets.com/hot/products/ ... asp?ID=418

It's more expensive than normal Hot Pockets (here, a box of Hot Pockets is $2.50, and the Panini was $3.19, but I had a coupon). Also, normal Hot Pockets have 2 sandwiches in the box. The panini box says that there are 2 servings, but there are 2 triangles of one sandwich. I'm eating both halves, partly because I don't feel like wrapping it up...I wish they were in separate wrappers...and partly because I'm a hungry girl. And partly because I'm going to see Australia in less than 2 hours, and it's over 2 hours long and I don't feel like buying food there...I'll bring food with me, but it's best if my tummy is full before going.

I'd like to take a break from reviewing DVDs and look at a new food item that I've recently discovered...

WALL•E Raisins.

If you're like me, you think raisins are okay. Not good enough to opt for the Raisin version of Pepperidge Farm's delicious Cinammon Swirl bread, but not bad enough to pick out of something exotic that they've made their way into. WALL•E Raisins, however, are special and grand. Eating them makes me feel like I'm in the future and alone and that mankind is on a luxury spacecraft cruise somewhere off in the distance. Do your typical raisins give you such profound emotions? I don't think so. But here's the best part about WALL•E Raisins... after you're done eating them, you can save the box. You get a picture of a character and there's apparently some game you can play with them. Now, I haven't read all the way into it, but I think the game probably conflicts with my desolate Earth loneliness feeling that stems from chewing those fruity gems. But tell me, would you save a typical raisin package? Not unless it had some pretty cool California Raisin attached to it. And when was the last time you saw something like this in your grocery store:

Exactly. So the next time you're thinking of having a snack or buying fruit, why not consider WALL•E Raisins? They're nutritious, delicious, and the boxes don't end up in a landfill somewhere for Waste Allocation Load-Lifer Earth-class robots to deal with. They end up in your house as free toys to play with!

You forgot about the Cars ones, man. I know the boxes don't turn into cool gamepieces, but they do have pictures of all your favorite Cars characters on them. And they're smaller. Ideal for those times when you just want half a box of raisins.

I went to K-Mart today (they're doubling manufacturers' coupons!!! :pink::pink::pink:), and I bought a few different varieties of Pringles; I don't buy chips too often, but a) I've actually been craving them lately, and b) I had to buy some anyway, because my parents are coming down and my mom wants some Pringles.

So, one of the varieties I bought (I bought 2 cans of this kind) is Honey Mustard. Honey Mustard Pringles. They sounded yummy, and they are so yummy!!! Mmmmmmm!!! I mean, they taste just like a Pringle that was dipped in honey mustard sauce, minus the wetness of the sauce. So good!

I bought a 12 pack of Pepsi Throwback today. It is basically Pepsi without the HFCS and has natural sugar instead. I think it is pretty interesting.

The time before last that I was at Super Walmart, I was in the frozen food section, and I saw peanut butter ice cream sandwiches. Ice cream must not have been on my shopping list, and I don't usually impulse buy, so I didn't buy them. But yesterday, I did impulse buy them. Yummmmmm!!! So yummy. I believe that they're Walmart's Great Value brand (they're in the freezer now, but I'm 99% sure that's what brand they are). It's a regular chocolate outside, but instead of vanilla ice cream, it has peanut butter ice cream. It's so amazing.

*edit*
It got a little less amazing as the bites went on. I think it's heavier than a vanilla ice cream sandwich. Still good, though, for a change of pace.

*edit, 6/16/09* They get better as you eat more of them. Not in one sitting, though. It's a very tasty, cool treat.

One of the places I volunteer has, for the past 2 times, allowed the volunteers to raid the candy bins after our work is done, and today I picked up a couple boxes of Reese's 100 Calorie Peanut Butter Wafer Bars made with real Hershey's chocolate.

Very yummy. I'm not sure how many packs are in each box, but there are 2 small candy bars in each pack. Very yummy, not filling enough. I'd still prefer a real Reese's, but these are very yummy. I think the boxes had a price sticker of $3.49 on them. I wouldn't pay that, but for free, they're mighty tasty!
